Thanks – I was wondering how long it was proper to wait before asking! 😉

I just rediscovered the Windstone CafePress store with all kinds of Christmas gift ideas. It looks like you can have a Pearl Secret Keeper on a tee shirt, even if you don’t have one on your shelf! 🙂 The path is Windstone Home – Website & Dealer Catalog – Cafepress Store.

Wasn’t the poll also at the beginning of the user control panel or the private messages section? I remember seeing some announcements there as well as on the Forum itself.

I did a search on “eye socket” and I found a couple of posts about eyes not fitting windstones because the eyes themselves are handmade and can sometimes differ just enough to make a difference, but I’m too terrified to try the other eye in the socket, especially since I can definitely see some raised part in the socket that I don’t remember being there in my last PYO.

Purpleturtle – what did you use to scrape out the socket? If I can correct it I don’t want to bother Susie.. I know she’s probably pretty busy.. but at the same time I don’t want to wait until it’s too late! 🙄

If you search “eye stuck” and “remove eye” you will find other posts on this topic. The message seems to be “Use great care in removing the eye”. I can’t tell if you were able to get yours out or not.

Unfortunately, what one person sees as cheating is seen as “smart” or “clever” by others. I’m with you though – everybody SHOULD play fair. And I agree with those who have said “Karma will get you”. :snappy: Too bad it seems to take so long sometimes!

As far as actual cake recipes, I don’t seem to have any in my recipe book >< I'm pretty good at spotting good ones though, what kinds of cakes would you like to test your decorating skills on, Lupin?

                Yay Recipe!! 😀 😀 😀
Pretty much anything but Carrot Cake & Cheese Cakes, the 2 types I Don’t like! I”m hoping to find a Cinnamon/spice cake recipe like I grew up with some time, & My Mom’s Choc Cake made with Mayo, she hasn’t seen the recipe in nearly 3 decades(may be more, since she can’t remember making it since I’ve been born.).
I figure start with Shaped Pan cakes & then start Slab Carving after a while, & bit of Confidence in my Icing styles, & Techniques.
Maybe the weekend, I’m planning on trying to make my first bit of Gingerbread(that I can remember & that’s solo on my part).
We go to my Uncles Christmas Eve party, & I want to bring a Gingerbread house with us this year, or a “Cake House” we found a Cake Pan that’s shaped like a house we thought would be fun to do(especially in that cinnamon/Spice cake, I think it’s also a Pound cake type)!
I used to think that Gingerbread used Molasses, but the recipe I have uses Honey, so I’ll see how that works out!

OK – this is a chocolate cake made with mayo, but I have never tried the recipe. However, it is from one of those recipe collection cookbooks that organizations put together and sell – in this case it was a school – so it should be a “family tested” recipe.

                DEVIL FOOD CAKE
                (Economical to make)

                Grease and flour a 13″ x 9″ pan.

                Sift together:
                2 cups flour
                1 cup sugar
                1/3 cup cocoa
                1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
                1/4 teaspoon salt

                Add:
                1 cup cold water
3/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
                1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat four minutes [my note – I expect this is the time for beating with a mixer, not by hand]. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees F. Test for doneness.
Frost with your favorite white icing [after it cools].

If you try it – let me know how it comes out. 🙂

I have been watching the RF Sitting Spectrals and Risers in the store and the number available is going up  I don’t know if more are turning up as boxes are unpacked at the new factory, or if stores are returning unsold stock, or what!

Compared to the rest of the world we’re awfully young still and our artists (and public) haven’t had as much evolutionary time to develop our own mythology and Art to grace it… Just a thought 😳

That’s a great point! It’s almost like our society missed out on a lot of that… and its too wrapped up in the here and now to focus on mythology and fantasy of the past.

I would suggest that the West is the American mythology (or fantasy), especially the Noble Indian and heroic cowboy, and that this accounts for the popularity of Western art. Fantasy as exemplified by dragons, faeries, unicorns, etc. is an European/Asian artifact. Just out of curiosity, what happens if someone marries fantasy with the West by painting Sasquatch, a dragon as “Spirit of the Badlands”, unicorns among the redwoods, or something like that?

At the moment in the store there are 14 phoenixes, 17 unicorns (I think) and 7 dragons. Jackpot! 🙂

The “possible Windstone” information was in the original listing. It sounds to me like somebody who doesn’t know what he has and is making some guesses. He would expect people who do know about Windstones to know if the crocodile is or is not a Windstone, and whether or not they want to bid. Not an unusual way for an ebay seller to approach a “mystery piece”.

I never even noticed that the “official” Windstone auction photos all have black backgrounds. I can identify the “official” listings by title syntax, but I look at the titles first and the photos second. Since the idea is to get as much money as possible (isn’t it?), I think the background should be whatever shows the piece to the best advantage.

Hieronymus Bosch, or is that a different type of fantasy?

I saw a very clever pumpkin-with-stem design this year. It was very cute. The maker carved eyes and a mouth at the stem end of the pumpkin and had the long curving stem as the nose. Sort of a Pinocchio effect, at least in the daytime. I didn’t see it lit so don’t know if it worked after dark.
