Glad you got your refund without argument from the seller. I know you were hopping mad over it, but from what you’ve written about the whole fiasco it seems like on the seller’s behalf, simple ignorance mixed with good intentions caused this. I’m really sorry about that ‘repair’ job though. Hopefully this seller learned that buyers like things as-is and doesn’t do something like this again.

I’ve had ok luck with matching Emerald for tiny areas. I use a very fine gold metallic along with the green acrylic to get the tone right. It’s not factory exact, but extremely passable if it’s a small area.

I used Windsor and Newton Finity and Golden brand acrylics. Nothing beats factory paint though, for matching ease. 🙂

In addition to these good recommendations, I swear by Beacon 527 multi-use glue.

It’s about the consistency of thick corn syrup, not too runny, soaks just enough into the gypsum, has a comfortable ‘working time’ so you can make adjustments after you stick the broken piece on, and since it dries with a flexible, silicone-like bond it’s basically shatter-proof. It’s my favorite!

It used to be called Bond 527 so it might be found under that name too. It is the same formula though.

My very first job as a student computer lab assistant included helping students with floppy disks. I can’t tell you how many tearful students cried tears of joy when I ran Norton Disk Doctor on their corrupted floppies and saved their important research papers and whatnot. It was my favorite part of the job.

Unless you’re running a very old machine, you might not have the program, but it has been incorporated into Windows software. This article should be helpful:

            Best of luck!!!

(Oh–the instructions on running the Windows-incorporated version of NDD are at the bottom of the article, BTW.)

I have a soft spot for Dadaist art. 😀 The Dadaists, Futurists, Surrealists, even the Pop Art movement all have that wonderful irreverence toward the hoity-toity art scene, such a wonderful defiance and contradiction of their world. Some really amazing thinkers and nonconformists, those artists!

Talk to one of the homeless people. That can actually be extremely interesting. Do be mindful though. Not all, but many, people who live on the streets have some personal problems. So be aware of your boundaries and personal space. I have had some amazing conversations with homeless men and women. Their stories are usually as fascinating as they are sad.

                  I have a weeny whine.

Been very mindful of being “PC” and wishing people a Happy Holidays this season. Every single person I’ve said “Happy Holidays!” to has responded with “Merry Christmas to you too!” And after all the rants I’ve been reading online about how people don’t CARE what other people say, I was just starting to think it was silly.

So I went to pick up an art print from a local artist as a gift for my mom, and as I thanked her for meeting up with me, I just went “ah fuggit” in my head and told her to “have a Merry Christmas!”

                  Her response?

“Thanks, and Happy Holidays to you too.” (emphasis hers)

Well best of luck with your refund. It shouldn’t be too hard. Don’t let it lapse more than 90 days though, I learned that the hard way, LOL! A different seller kept putting off refunding me, till it went past 90 days, then ebay has no obligation to help me out and they basically got away free and clear. Grr.

It really seems like this seller isn’t familiar with ebay and thinks it’s more like Cragislist, where it’s a lot more Wild Wild West and sellers can relist or change conditions if they want. Sorry it didn’t work out for you though.

That being said, you enjoyed your time with him. Don’t lose that. Looking back on it and seeing it in a new light doesn’t change the fact that you were having a good time at the time.

That is so true. What we did have, at the time, was enjoyable, and I remember thinking that our time spent together was really ‘good for me,’ made me want to be better. I liked that a lot.

Thank you all so, so much for your kind, thoughtful, and WISE words. <3 You have no idea how much they helped, and helped me to sort out what I am feeling and what I want in the maelstrom of emotions. Dang emotions. 😛 I did read each and every one of your messages and found so much clarity and warmth there. Thank you so much!

I got to see him last night, and tell him some stuff that had been on my mind. And thanks to you guys I was able to express it a lot more clearly!!! Sad, but good conversation and I feel better having talked to him face to face. (He lives about 40 minutes away so we talk on chat a lot. The breakup actually happened over chat.)

Some of the reasons he had for me not being serious relationship material were mentioned too. Listening him talk out loud about it, I could see him realizing that those issues weren't quite the issues he thought. Interesting to see the gears turning there.

He's off on a trip China for 10 days or so. Some time apart will be good for us. I'm gonna focus on my family and friends and last minute Christmas shopping. And a repair job if I survive the mall!

Big, big hugs back to everyone for your helpful advice and kind words, I am just so repeatedly blown away by how wonderful and supportive you all are. <3 <3 <3 I love this place. 🙂

Aw thank you! I know 3D is, like coconut, a very divisive topic regarding whether people like it or not. 😉

When we first started doing some tests on 2D animation, I was offended as anyone. Then when I saw how respectful we had to be in our process of the original art, and how good it can look when it’s done correctly, I was…..(wait for it!!!)…..converted. (Groan!)

Lion King 3D was the first big mainstream 2D animation conversion and I was curious to see how it would look, since Disney converted it in-house. No offense to Disney, but my company can do that stuff cleaner and better. Getting a chance to prove ourselves is exciting.

Oooh, TDS I get SAD really bad too. I feel for your family! I always have a little personal mini-celebration on the Solstice. It is funny how something so simple as amount of daylight can affect some people so much. 🙂

Yeah, she just got back to me, said she meant to have a reserve of $400 and will refund my money…I didn’t think a seller could just do that.

                              Actually, she can’t.

In the same way that you have to pay if you win, no matter that you got carried away and regret it now, a seller can’t refuse to ship if she doesn’t get the price she wants, that what reserves are for. And “I’m sorry I forgot to set a reserve” doesn’t cut it.

On the other hand, there’s really nothing that ebay can do to force her to live up to her obligations. They can close her account as sanction, but that doesn’t get you anything either.

                              THIS.

My very first Windstone ebay purchase was a Male Ki-rin. I paid something like $160 for him, which was a very very fair price. The seller immediately messaged me after the end of the auction saying, “Oh, I expected to get $300 for him, I’m not going to sell him to you.” (Not only was this insulting, it was inflated, as an entire Mint Ki-Rin family sold that very same week on ebay for $280.)

I kindly-as-possible informed her that this was a breach of ebay’s guidelines, let her know what a “Reserve” was and how she should have set it beforehand, and that we would need to take it up with ebay if she wanted to back out of the contractual obligation she’d put herself in by listing the Ki-rin.

She ended up sending him to me, badly packaged, and he arrived so damaged I worked out a refund. All-in-all a frustrating experience.

But no, what this seller is doing to you is not ‘legal’ on ebay and she has every obligation to sell the dragons to you for the price you bid. She doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on if she wants to cheat you out of it. You already went above and beyond your obligation as a buyer, by offering to pay more than the final price.

If you want these dragons, ebay will be on your side, but OGs are common enough that if it were me, personally, I would continue my search elsewhere. This seller obviously isn’t familiar with ebay or Windstones and it might be more trouble than it’s worth, just to end up with them arriving broken from bad packaging, or having to hold her hand through the whole process…
