Brilliant! And think of the fun you could have with it . . . . 🙂
She’s fabulous. Now this is the right color mix and placement for a really spectacular red dragon. And those eyes! I would dearly love to be able to afford her, but she’s hit $2225 already and there’s just no way.
It would sure be keen if this paint job and similar eyes did appear someday on some of the others (I wonder if the definition of Spectral could stretch enough to use them? Probably not 😛 ). SilverArrow’s right, it would look good on the lap, too. Oh, well, I can dream . . . .
SQUEAK! I love the Coiled Mother! Please let’s see her come back, I don’t care if she’s production or direct sales, I would leap at the chance to buy her. 😯 😀 (And don’t you think she’d look stunning in Black Gold? Or Emerald Peacock!)
You haven’t seen me wistfully phoning my way down the Dealer’s List, hoping to run across one, any one, in somebody’s old store stock. I’ve called 59 shops so far and no luck, but a lot of, “Oh, we had one, but somebody bought ‘er X number of weeks/months ago.” 🙁 Clearly, Mama Coiled has Still Got It!
Oo! She’s pretty! Is she a metallic silver, or a gray? I love the distribution of the darker shading and her little strands of gold beads. Man, these paint up nicely! 🙂
Does anybody need a Rainbow Male? I believe I might know of a couple that are still in stores; haven’t seen them in person, but I’ve been calling around lately to find out what’s still out there.
Oh yeah. That is indeed a big spider. . . . And then I followed that link, and read about all the happy birds and lizards and things . . . until the photos at the bottom.
Hwaaa! HOLY BL****PIN’ FIRECRACKERS, BATMAN!!
That, now, that is a spider that would probably kill me via coronary if I ever saw one in my house. 😯 I thought orb weavers were big. I thought the tarantula that chased my mom across camp was big. I thought sun spiders were big and ugly. Ahaha. Knowing that there is a very large ocean between me and the huntsman spider is probably the only thing that will let me sleep at night.
My husband wants us to visit Japan someday. I would like to visit Japan someday. I hope Customs is understanding about my suitcase full of Raid. Either that or I visit the country inside a very large hamster ball. 😛
Regarding your concern about having a child when your husband is ill: How does he feel about your being pregnant? Is he happy too? If so, then it’s OK, because you both wanted a baby, and what your child will remember is a happy father. It kind of falls into the category of “take the happiness that offers itself, while it is there”: this is an important thing for a couple, and if time is uncertain then it’s even more important. And nobody knows how long they have. It sure doesn’t make it any easier, to know that your husband’s health is uncertain: that would be a burden for anyone, and I think you’re very brave. I wish I had some more constructive suggestion to make, but all I can say is take care of yourself and your baby. Help your husband by taking away that worry. And talk to him as often as the hospital staff and his need to rest will let you. He’s probably feeling a little isolated too, and knowing that you’re OK will be important to him.
Hang in there. You’ve got lots of family, by ties of blood but also by ties of friendship. If you feel that this isn’t the best time for your blood family to know about the pregnancy, that’s OK. People sometimes lash out at the wrong target when they’re upset and worried. Talk to us chickens instead. I can promise you I won’t do any lashing.

Is that boxed or “nekkid”? I was weighing my own last night, and got 10 pounds 2 3/4oz for the OW and 10 pounds 6 3/4oz for the Emperor. (I’m trying to rearrange the collection without busting the glass shelves in my cabinets.) Now I’m wondering if my scale is way off! It could end up being a problem if it is . . . some of those shelves are only rated for 11 pounds. Ack!
Oh geez, that’s awful. 🙁 Hang in there! Not being able to go to the hospital to see him is rough, but if you suspect that you’d fall asleep during the drive, then you’re doing the right thing. After all, he’d be upset if you ended up injured, and that wouldn’t do either one of you any good. Good luck!
I’m sorry too that you’ll be leaving. But I can’t fault your logic. It is so darned hard to walk away from a Windstone (or any other beautiful collectible) that one has been wanting . . . and it seems as if there is always another one to want next. I know that little problem well. Sometimes one has to just say, “No more.” And it’s rough when that happens. 😐
The very best of luck to you in your future house hunt, and I hope that you are able to both save enough for a fine home and continue to develop hobbies that you will enjoy very much. Hang in there!
These poor critters! 😥 I guess all I can say is hang in there, GB and pegasi, and best of luck with these guys. What an awful experience, having what was supposed to be a happy new addition arrive all bashed up. 🙁 (I’m going to fret even more now when something’s in the mail–unless it’s direct from the factory! Feeeeeed the paranoia . . . ) I hope the repairs and restitution proceed well for both of you.
Toxoplasma is a very small parasite that lives in many, many cats: it behaves itself just fine for the cat, but it’s very rude when it gets into other species. And it loves to get into other species! The biggest danger is to ladies who are expecting, because if the parasite enters the body during that time, it can travel to the baby and–sorry–get into the baby’s brain or other tissues and cause major problems. It is possible for one’s cat to seem absolutely healthy and still carry the parasite. The parasite lives in the cat’s intestine, and “lays eggs” (they’re not exactly eggs, but close enough) that are passed in the stools.
There are two things one can do to protect oneself and one’s unborn baby. First, it’s critical that the litterbox be cleaned at least once every 24 hours, and preferably every 12. This is because it takes 24 hours for the Toxoplasma “eggs” to become capable of infecting a host. It’s also super important to never feed a cat raw meat, because this can be a way for cats to get Toxoplasma in the first place. (Apparently the reason Toxo likes to get into species other than the cat, is simply in hopes that the new host will someday be eaten by a cat. Well, it more or less hopes.) And yeah, this means that a cat that catches rodents or birds can get Toxo from one of them, too.
Airborne? I wouldn’t put it past the little devil. It’d be best if you didn’t have to handle the litterbox at all, but I realize that doesn’t work out for every family. A mask is a good idea; you might check with your doctor regarding what particle size it needs to be able to filter out. Toxo “eggs” are 10 micrometers in diameter, but I don’t know what that translates to in terms of what mask type you’d need.
It’s more dangerous to have a newly-infected cat than one that’s been carrying Toxo for a long time, because a newly-infected cat releases gobs of Toxo “eggs” for about three weeks. A cat who’s had it for a while doesn’t have as many “eggs” in its stool.
Okay! More than anybody ever wanted to know about Toxoplasma. I hope that this is more helpful than disgusting. 🙄 If anyone wants to Google the subject, its full name is Toxoplasma gondii.
Yeep! I just finished reading the Spectral thread, and I am modifying my request. I do not want to stir up the pot again! I’ll PM you with what I would hope to see, and you can tell me if it’s OK or not. Sorry to have posted here before reading the other thread. 😳
purplecat wrote:No, not OOAK, I just labeled her as a test color. I needed to see if the colors would work together for a repair and repaint of a poor broken spectral. I don’t like putting colors on a large dragon without knowing they’ll work. dc_1961 (right handle??, I remember email but not sure on her handle??) had first dibs so she’d have a matching set. Ember dragon test is already on her way to her new home! I’m planning on trying this color on other molds or perhaps pyo’s with blue eyes. I did label this one #1 just in case I made me one. I’ve got a damaged momma and male on the way….I may do one of those in the “Ember” color……just a thought.
Heh–well, you’ve probably noticed my slobbering all over the Spectral pictures by now, too. This really is a stunning color scheme in just about any size. Would you accept another commission sometime? I’m going to go see if I can find prices listed somewhere–I know I saw them.
Melody wrote:The jade ( dark green color without any brighter green highlights) was “officially” put on the Oriental, the young Oriental, and the Coiled dragon (that’s the cowpie with the globe).
Cowpie! I laughed so hard I startled the cat. I would never call that limber fellow a cowpie (a world class Twister player, maybe . . .). Now I have to go look at my little guy and try to keep from imagining the kind of cow that would drop a peacock-colored scaly pie with eyes. And a globe. 😯 Moo!
