So my wolf is coming soon and I have been looking at paints for him. I’d like to do either a gray or brown/umber scheme. I have been checking out my Michaels & AC Moore. I have narrowed it down to Folk Art craft paint or Liquitex. I like the color selection of the folk art, but I feel wierd using them. I want to use the higher quality paints, but I’m not much on color theory and blending different colors together, etc…Is this pressure all in my head, did you guys feel the same?? I’m much more decisive on my brushes! I will be getting those at AC Moore, they had a much broader selection of Taklon materials at better prices and seemingly better quality.

Ah, there are different kinds of paints? 😳 Oh, I know you guys are laughing now….So, they aren’t all acrylics? I only know about house paint…Ask me how to paint your bathroom, and I can tell you. There is gonna be a BIG learning curve here, I can see it already

in reply to: A dumb question about ordering PYOs #525768

Hey nightcrow, I just emailed what I wanted and my paypal address to service@windstoneeditions.com and it was easy as pie! They sent me an invoice and I’m off and running..

Bought and paid for! I don’t think I even rank as amateur, is there a pre-amateur? 😆 So whats a good paint to start out with? Maybe not $10 a tube/bottle…Do I use a primer of some kind? Oh boy..now the questions start!! 🙄

I just emailed my order to Windstone for a PYO Wolf..I hope I don’t make too much of a mess with him 😕

in reply to: Anyone have any phobias? #524919

I used to be very phobic of spiders, even tiny tiny ones. Then I lived in Phoenix, AZ for almost 4 years and learned what spiders were really all about. I’m not bad now, cause I know we don’t have too many black widows here in NH 🙂 I dont like heights at all. We went to Vegas, to the hotel/casino that is really tall, I can’t rmember the name…It was aweful, we were with friends and family and I was the only one who didn’t want to be there. My husband was mad, it was a scene… 😳

And Ski, I’m right there with you on the food thing. My hubby has to clean the sink & drains…It’s funny, he can’t clean the bathtub drain. The hair grosses him out. My daughter has very long hair, and I were extensions, so it really collects…

in reply to: What's anyone reading? #524768

I’m gonna look into the Dragon Quartet, thanks! Yup, I’ve got some Terry Brooks under my belt, as well as the Kushiel stuff….I have passed up the new Kate Forsyth for some reason, I dunno know why…These are all great suggestions! I have to go to Borders or B&N now, I’ve read most of the stuff our library has….

in reply to: Anyone on the East Coast? #524819

Hey, I’m in New England too! No conventions for me either, not really my thing…

in reply to: What's anyone reading? #524761

Oh, gosh, where to start….I have read Robert Jordan ofcourse, Michelle West, George Martin, some Marion Zimmer Bradely, The Hickman sisters Bronze Canticles 1 & 2, Anne Mccaffrey Pern up to The Masterharper of Pern(which I just can’t being myself to read because I love Robinton)…Um, some Kristin Britan, Anne Bishop, The Witches of Eileenan(can’t remember the authoress). The Rhapsody series, haven’t gotten to the Assasin King yet. I read The Daughter of the Forest and hated it…And ofcourse Mercedes Lackey. Loved her books with Andre Norton. Read The Belgariad & The Mallorean, read David MacFarlan…I read Jennifer Roberson’s Tiger & Del series and some of the Cheysuli…I think I read some Charles Dickson(??), not sure if that’s his name, about a couple seperatley getting “sent” to a different place and the man gets plunked into the body of a dragon, the woman falls into the wrong hands ofcourse…ther is a magician, a knight, a wolf, etc..invovled..

I LOVE George Martin, he isn’t fluffy at all…Michelle West is good, but gets long winded like R. Jordan….Anne Mccaffrey is ofcourse great, but she lacks the “adult” side of Fantasy I like(no real grit…) Oh, I don’t care for Tad Williams.

I like fantasy, magic, dragons, etc…I don’t a lite read every now and again, but do prefer books geared towrds adults instead of young adults….

I’m on the hunt for a new fantasy series while I’m waiting on George Martin…Any recommendations?

in reply to: First PYO Dragon… and one Winged Wolf.. #524556

Oh they look great!! I LOVE the wolf so far!

in reply to: Anyone work with Art Clay or PMC? #524541

How long did it take you to get the hang of it? 2 of the 3 peices I made today broke while I was sanding them before firing. Any luck with actually bringing out a mirror finish? TIA!

in reply to: On a scale of 1 to 10…. #523958

Truth be told, the griffin is what I really want to paint, but I have virtually NO painting experience…So I’ll start with the wolf. I always try to start with the advanced projects and I get frustrated because I don’t know what I’m doing…

Thanks! I’m gonna go by my local Michaels this weekend and cruise the paint isle…

I love learning new skills! 😀 🙄 My husband will ask me where to clean a spot in the basement for this project 🙄
