Wing claws done, tail scaled and cheek area detailed. I also “sharpened” the large neck ridges. All that is left now is scaling the wing fingers and an over-all detail and clean up. It took me a week of working two hours a day to scale the tail so I should have the wing fingers done… oh, next month some time? lol
I am not sure what I want to do with the wing fingers either. The scales I have on the wing shoulders are just too deep and blocky to carry through the whole wing. I am at a stand still until I can make up my mind about that.
He is so close to being finished now. I have started to look at various molding mediums in anticipation of casting him. I need something very good to pick up all those tiny details.
Cool!
Thanks for the compliments. I just finished up all the wing claws and am working on scaling the tail.
Kitty Wizard! LOVE!
Never mind. It seems all I needed to do to fix the problem was to spend time explaining it in detail then walking away for a few minutes. I swear my computer is laughing at me right now. lol
I’m loving the Male Dragon!
Update progress pics of Bugger. He has a new tail, I’m still not sure if I like it but it is growing on me. New eye, thanks Tohickon! New cheek area and a bunch more scaling. Remember, he is about the size of an old fashioned silver-dollar so those scales are itty-bitty and a bugger to cut in.
I still have a ton of work to do. Scale the tail, detail the new cheek area and eye orbit, scale the wing bones and a general detail and clean up. I also need to fix his wing “finger” claws. Still, I think he is coming along nicely. If you see anything out of place feel free to chime in. I’m a big girl I can take it.
I am eagerly looking forward to molding this little guy so I can have a bunch of copies to paint all sorts of colors.
Also, he isn’t really green. That came from the light I was using to help show up his scales.
Congrats. He is very nice. I have yet to add a dragon to my meager collection but someday…
That is it, there is no more. It is a simple short story.

“Good journey dear one.”
We keened in the night.
Our sadness heart-rending,
in the loss of your light.
“Good journey dear one.”
Too soon for goodbye.
“Good journey dear one.”
A world sent that cry.Very nice work. I really like the flourescent in between the scales.
Congrats to the winner and applause to the artist of such a wonderful piece.
Here are a couple of in progress photos. I have about 1/3 of him scaled now. Those tiny scales are a bugger! So far I have re-sculpted the head to make it more reptilian instead of horseish. I am planning on legnthening the tail and adding a fan to the end. The cheek will be added to, to bulk it up a bit and maybe a couple of small spikes added. I will add in the wing tip claws that were lost in the molding process. Also he will have glass eyes, er.. eye added.
Remember, he is just over 2 inches at the longest point. The itty bitty scales are a bear to cut in. I have decided to name this little guy Bugger!
I have a Kindle and LOVE it! Not only do I read my favorites but I can download ones that just came out instantly instead of waiting at the book store. Also, I download audiobooks to it and can listen whenever I want. Since Audible is part of Amazon I pick my two audio books every month and they download instantly to my Kindle. I am currently listening to The second Temeraire book.
