I’ve never heard of EMT before, so it may not be common in the States. Maybe they thought you were proposing one of those scams, where a scammer sends (bad) overpayment and asks to be refunded the difference which the seller sends in legit money, only to lose both the goods and the money?

It doesn’t excuse their dumb knee-jerk reaction, but it may explain it.

I laughed a little. But I actually feel kinda bad, I hope I haven’t seriously ruined their faith in humanity or something.

Anyone had anything like this happen? I don’t think I’d feel comfortable making the transaction with them regardless anymore, but I’m wondering how I could at least make them feel better.

That’s probably the sweetest thing I’ve read in a week. And more charitable than my reaction would be…

Whether or not you dinged their faith in humanity, you restored a little of mine.

Aww, bright-eyed little babies. They look like they’re getting beautifully socialized, and Mama cat is gorgeous. Thanks for the pics. 🙂

Hmm, several options, can’t promise their effectiveness for you and your specific situation, but they’re worth considering.

One option is EFT, it’s a kind of hmm, westernized acupressure that can be self-applied and used to release harmfully excessive emotions.

Another option (which works beautifully for some, but may horribly backfire for others) is to imagine and wrestle with the absolute worst case scenario till you reach acceptance of the possibility. For example, I don’t have to do much public speaking (or even speaking in small groups) but considering the possibility that I might come across as an offensive gibbering idiot and get booed offstage, raises some anxiety even as I type this, but it also allows me to examine that fear, say ‘hello’ to it, and then temporarily set it aside as needed.

According to tracking, mine’s due Monday. So, I’m watching the mailbox like a hungry hawk. I’m sure many others are in the same boat.

I’d be completely astonished if given several days, those seriously beautiful brown unicorns don’t get several very handsome trade offers.

My very favorite is the brown colt with the blanket of bright blue dapples, followed by the Autumn leaf in front of the class picture, but I’ll see what happens. I tend to fall in love with whatever I get anyway, so, *shrugs* )

For those of you who do have the Golden Fluid Acrylics, can you tell me if the 1 oz bottles are ample paint enough to do a couple of sculptures, provided I have the GAC 100 & 200 mixing materials and the drying retarder?

Yes, easily. I’ve been in several swaps and have used it for several non-Windstone projects and still have plenty. It’s amazing how far twenty drops of GAC and 2-10 drops of paint in a bottlecap will go. (after the first coat of primer anyway… it’s amazing how much the raw gypsum will absorb.) I mostly lurk, but am looking forward to seeing your work. 🙂

Good pick! Handsome sculpt, a particularly nice Old Green paint job and he’s in lovely condition! That fellow has the heavier eyebrows which the earlier male dragons did.

I took Jennifer’s recommendation for the Golden fluid acrylics, and I’m not that experienced a painter, but I really like how they work. They are super-concentrated so I recommend the GAC 100 and GAC 200 to thin them, and they dry lightning fast, so I recommend the retarder to extend the working time.

The one technique I know, is to start with a light, sometimes slightly metallic base coat, then add translucent layers of color on. It’s super-simple and gives the final piece a nice glow.

Well, I have one recipe, one recommendation, and some musings.

The recipe (I apologize, this does have dairy.)

Several spoonfuls whole, plain, unsweetened Greek Yogurt (slightly sour, but rich and fairly easy to digest as dairy goes)
A tablespoon of Chia Seeds (Superb, shelf-stable plant source of protein and Omega 3’s.)
One sliced banana (or other soft, seasonal fruit. The sweetness will counterbalance the yogurt’s sourness.)
Mix and eat. It’s a stone-simple breakfast. Adjust ingredients to taste. Add a tiny bit of sweetener or more fruit if the Greek Yogurt is too much.

The recommendation, is to get a Vitamix. (or another high-end blender. Nothing so expensive as a cheap blender as they’re near useless so you’d have to buy a high-end one anyway) They aren’t cheap, but last I checked, they offered reconditioned ones on their site with a warranty. That’ll get you green smoothies, soups, sauces, etc.

For green smoothies, I recommend spinach and banana as a nice starter base, as spinach is a mild-flavored green, and banana is sweet with a smooth texture. Beware of too much fruit, due to the natural sugars.

Some people juice (like a green smoothie but without the fiber) and it’s a way to get super-concentrated nutrition, but IMO it’s far too concentrated for most people to handle easily.

Regarding meat, (I apologize for any distress or irritation anyone feels due to my bringing up the M-word and hope it doesn’t start some horrid debate) some people like my aunt, do absolutely beautifully on a high veggie extremely low-meat (or no meat) diet (and there are all those lovely high-protein plants). Other people on such a diet, turn into twitchy space-cadets and start looking at dog food and road kill the wrong way… If you respond like the former, then more power to you, and enjoy! If you (like me) respond like the latter, you may need to introduce some high-quality, pastured, grass-fed organic meat into your diet. (it’s vastly different from the feedlot stuff, it even smells different)

But the best thing you can do, is after eating something, keep track of your mood and energy levels for several hours afterward. Your body will tell you what you need.
