This is terrible… horrifying, really. I just stared at that last picture for about 5 minutes. And it’s already been pushed under the rug by the media? AND the people “fixing” things are just sitting around with their heads up their backsides instead of actually working to contain/clear up the oil? Sickening. :puke:

For those of us nowhere near the Gulf Coast and with little money, is there anything we can do to help?

I would think with Star Wars your name would have risen in popularity. 😀

In Star Wars it’s spelled Leia, and has been in the top 1000 six times. 911 in 1978, 922 in 1980, then dropped off the top 1000 until 2006-2009, where it was numbers 963, 945, 934, and 822. /nerding 😀

It’s gotta be that or Urinary Tract Infection. Maybe that’s what you get instead of a degree? 😆

in reply to: I STARTED IT! AND…A BIT OF ADVICE #812732

There were two times I visited/considered private (for profit) schools, and both times I got a bad feeling that they were out for cash. I don’t know about the first (a massage school), but the second was an art school that a couple of my friends attended. They found out when they were almost done with their degrees (and I think it was 4yr programs, not just 2yr) that the school was NOT accredited. Sucked for them big time, and I was sooooo glad I decided not to attend!

One of the trade schools that has commercials on tv all the time makes me snicker, tho. I forget what it stands for, but they’re “UTI”… 🙄 😆 How can they call themselves that and take themselves seriously??? I can’t take them seriously, that’s for sure! I crack up every time I see one of their ads.

    Edited because I can’t spell.

in reply to: Dragon Sculpting #811509

I’ve noticed one thing that hasn’t been mentioned about clay sculpting yet. If you need to do something utilizing both thick and thin areas, such as a horse, you would make the thin areas out of solid clay, but for thick areas like the body, you tightly crumple newspaper and coat it with clay, leaving a small hole or two in a discreet location for air to escape. That way you can have a thicker body but not have the piece blow up. The main reason pieces blow up is that air pockets in the clay expand as it heats, so if you have holes the extra air has a place to escape. This is one reason why ceramic sculptures often have a large hole in the bottom (the other main reason is a lot of them are made in bulk via slip-casting). And the newspaper? The heat of the kiln burns it to ash, leaving your sculpture hollow.

    😥

That’s terrible! And yes, this is why my cats are indoors only… that and because there are always creeps out there who think it’s ok to kick or throw things at outdoor cats.

I once happened upon a cat flailing in the street. It had been hit, and I stayed with it… had never even seen that cat before, but I still cried like crazy.

I don’t understand how anyone can be so callous towards animals, ESPECIALLY their own pets! If they care so little for them, why do they have them at all?
