    Ok, you started it Hannah.

I searched the site and found their listing for canned Unicorn and Dragon meat.

    Ummmmm . . . .

Needless to say, some of the post your own photos and comments below them were quite comical.

Talk about your weird gag items.

The story was, Laundry was painting for me, but the cat said something mean to the sculpt, so it committed suicide. Laundry couldn’t paint a replacement in time, so Allie chimed in and painted me a penguin griffin!

Aaaaaah, Ha ha, Ha ha, HA!

What a great way to retell a tragedy.

The cat was snide to the sculpt and it leaped off a cliff, so to speak.

    Aaah, Ha, ha HA!

Cats aren’t mean, they’re just mostely naturally indifferent to any thing and any one (unless there is food or lovin’/pets involved), around them.

I’m willing to bet that Laundry grumbled a bit when the cat offended the dragon in to a suicidal state.

Awesome Sauce that Allie saved the day!

~Hoofer, who got a good chuckle out of that one

in reply to: PYO Unicorn Horns #922580

Ooooh, color me ignorant. I did not realize that a paintable horn was the same thing as the polished pewter horns being used for the new color schemes. I thought that the new horns were actually silver dipped horn, hence the shiny silver coloration. I did not realize that it’s just super polished pewter, in essence, creating a silvery look.

As for the new horns needing some sort of a base coat over the lacquered, polished pewter …. I am definitely not as artsy an individual as I could have been. I love art and used to draw quiet well. Unfortunately though, I put my pencils down, what seems like, a long time ago. So I would not have known that. Hopefully the painters who are painting these PYO horns know this tidbit. I know I would not have.

    Thanks for edimicating me. 🙂

in reply to: Gothic Unicorns #922552

Oh man, the first photo coloration on that Gothic is really nice. I also like the fifth photo. It’s the black and brown together that makes it for me. As for photo number two, I could so see that type of white with the brown on the Unicorns. The brown being the mane, tail, fetlocks and beard. With some black in between to offset the brown in to the off white. Wait, NO, don’t paint any more new Unicorn colors just yet. <>

Does anyone remember what the color scheme in the first photo was called?

Speaking of Gothic Goats, I mean Unicorns! Was the white color on them retired?

And what’s up with the black line of these fellas that you did in July of 2011?

I managed to get one, so I’m not exactly on a mission, but as I recall, the black ones were not Limited Editions, but you’ve yet to restock. I’ll chalk it up to oversight?

Speaking of Unicorns, my blacks arrived. Whoa! They are definitely nice with those silver horns and gee, what color would I call the eyes, blueish silver? The fact that they are all black really makes them.

Who knew back then that your horn woes would turn out to be such a great thing. Thanks a super bunch for being so flexible that you listened to us when we first started seeing the silver horns pop up on the eBay specials.

Because you considered our wishes, I have a super awesome silvery horned black Unicorn. I adore silver and prefer to wear it in jewelry. So yeah, black and silver with that eye color, just wow. I’m so easy to please!

Unfortunately I have to send the mare back, her horn was not set properly. I double checked the other two and all seems fine with them. She’ll be galloping back to you. And I see the Young mold made it’s debut, neigh! Finally, I’ll be able to own a black Young!

Oh sorry Katyana, I kinda SliJacked your thread (Side tracked + Hijacked)

jmoore, that’s one well fed billy goat. He looks great. So funny that he falls asleep in your lap. I can say that my horses never did that.

in reply to: El Unicorno Plateado Negro – The Silvery Black Unicorns #922363

ZOOOMG, THEY ARE SO HAWT LOOKING !!

Don’t panic, we plan to make unicorns in Jet Black and Snow White for a while. They are regular production.

    Ha ha, I didn’t panic, I purchased!

Soooo, any idea on an ETA for the Silvery Black Young to make its appearance?

I would have sprung for the whole family, since credit allows me to pay for them at my leisure throughout the upcoming year, but the new Colt and Baby mold were already sold out and the Young hasn’t made its debut yet.

And yeah, my inner voice stated/asked, “What the heck do I have all that great credit for?” And also, “They tell me that I have to use it or they’ll close my accounts.” Yay for internal conflicting logic and a great credit record!

    in reply to: Texting #921146

Your welcome for the stories. What’s the fun if you can’t share the mayhem?

My booklet of odd crap keeps getting bigger and bigger. Who knew some random pizza guy was going to text me the first time I order one from town. If only the lotto worked that way for me! Even though it was more than a year ago, I still have that pizza guys text on my phone, just because even to this day, I myself barely believe it happened.

Copper, for some stupid reason, the you tube link you posted didn’t work for me.

    Toopid interwebs!

Speaking of cell phones and the interwebs, one of the funniest sites I like visiting are the cell phone auto correct websites. OMGawd is that some funny stuff.

Lokie, I definitely understand where you are coming from. I have a bud that was riding with me in my pick-up. As we were cruising down the road and he was fiddling through stations, he commented on my clock being the wrong time. I sighed and acknowledged that I had zero clue how to set the clock on my radio. That I had owned this truck for 8 years and that to no avail, I have tried EVERY button combo I could think of in order to properly set the clock on it. After more attempts than I want to admit here, I finally gave up and resigned myself to always having the time incorrectly displayed on the screen.

Well now, let me just say Mr. Smarti Pants with his Smarti Pants phone absolutely impressed the begezus out of me.

The dude whipped out his smart phone and went to I’m guessing some website and proceeded to look up the brand and model of my radio and within 10 minutes had my clock set. I was like, “Whoa, now that’s some impressive ” And yeah, it was a button combo that without the manual, I was NEVER going to figure it out.

Now let’s see if I remember what he showed me when it comes to our infamous time change, which is right around the corner.

Yeah, I am very impressed by them, especially after he did that with his. But personally speaking, I truly have no need for them, yet.

    in reply to: Texting #921073

As long as we are lamenting (or praising technology) I am on the side of the fence of despising and appreciating them. I despise people that use them improperly. I appreciate what they offer.

I dodged the cell phone bullet until 6 years ago. Even then I only had a Tracfone (minute) flip phone and used it either for quick heads up that I was on route or emergencies; which fortunately never occurred. The phone became necessary 3 years ago when I had to ‘ring’ my boss every morning to come unlock the front doors.

Soon afterwards, my friends started texting me. Although I was patient with the whole flip phone, press, press, press, to get to a letter of the alphabet, I definitely realized how slow texting was on my flip phone and knew deep down that I had to ‘upgrade’ to the sliding qwerty style of phone.

Yes, I have had a few of my friends try and woo me over to the darker side of technology as they praise the power of their fancier ‘smart’ phones. My response has always been, “For that price?? Until that sucker can give me a back rub, it ain’t so damned smart. Thank you, no thank you!”

They also try and woo me over by telling me how ‘little’ they pay per month to have all that fancy stuff. I happily remind them that my ‘triple minute’, slider phone averages me $10 a month while they are billed $50 to have a bunch of fancy stuff that I will never access.

When they hear how little I am averaging monthly for my cheezy slider, they usually glance down at their over priced technology and I see a look cross their face. Oh yes, the look of indecision when they realize that they might be paying a little to much.

I also remind them, each and every time they have to plug theirs in to a charger, that mine needs to hit the recharger at max, twice a week. They’re like, “Twice a week?!?!” And I repeat, “At MAX usage, yes, twice a week!”

The funniest part of them trying to woo me over? When I hear them griping about something not working right, venting their frustration as they are trying to do something and their “Smart” phone is having a conniption fit and not working properly.

Oh yeah, I take that moment to nudge and jibe them, giggle a bit at their frustration and remind them, “And you hound me to buy in to that crap and it’s causing you this much angst and woe? Remember, I paid $30 for my POS, got the triple minute bonus with it, average $10 a month in total billing, barely need to recharge it and it works like it should.”

Less is more people, less is more!

I fault NO ONE for having one. What I do fault is rudeness.

If we are sitting at a place, having lunch, dinner, a drink, what have you & your phone goes off, excuse yourself if you MUST respond to someone else. If you don’t, I consider it quite rude, only because I would NEVER do that to someone.

Also, I have no idea what this is about, but I see it all the time nowadays. If you are sitting at a traffic light, squeeze up to the car in front of you, don’t sit 8 cars back while you glance at your phone. What in blazes is that crap? Traffic is super heavy and absolutely horrid around here. For someone to be sitting 8 cars back, that means others trying to get to a turn lane can not begin to get near it. And because that person was so far back, it caused a bunch of people to not be able to get through the intersection.

    Again, what is THAT crap?

Yes, I have received phone calls and texts while sitting in bumper to bumper traffic at a red light and took a brief moment to see who it was or what it was about (txt) and then PUT THE PHONE DOWN. I do NOT respond to texts and unless it’s a quick call (it’s the person I am heading to, wondering what my ETA is) I also do not answer the phone aspect. If it is important, they will leave me a message and I will call them back as soon as it is safe to.

Fortunately, everyone that has my number operates the same exact way that I do. If we are driving and it rings/a txt comes in and the person does not have the blue tooth technology, none of us will answer or text back until we are safely parked somewhere.

Why oh why are people finding it SO hard to put something aside, forgo the immediate reaction to respond, until it is much safer? I just don’t understand. It’s like they feel that they are absolutely OBLIGATED to respond, the world will absolutely EXPLODE to oblivion if they do not respond, no matter how dangerous it is to them and the people around them.

Meh, what’s a person to do?

    NOW FOR SOMETHING LIGHT!

This is one of the more fun moments that have occurred because I carry a cell phone, that would have never have happened ‘back in the day.’

I was heading in to work. It was 6:30ish in the morning and I was standing on a Ferry Barge that takes me across the Potomac River from Maryland over to Virginia, which is where I worked.

I was enjoying the sunrise, sipping on my coffee, standing outside my vehicle, just soaking in the moment and preparing myself for work when my hip rings. I think to myself, “Who in blazes is calling me at this time of the morning?”

As I flip it open, I see that it is my boss. Why is he calling me that early? Because he wanted to catch me before I got to the building so that I could drive over to the Post Office to pick up the live baby chickens.

Yes, in case you did not know this tidbit, newly hatched, peeping like crazy, extremely hungry and confused baby chickens COME IN A CARDBOARD BOX THROUGH THE MAIL SYSTEM. How else do you think those huge hatcheries get their ‘goods’ to people?

Oh yes, I could not help but laugh at the strangeness of it all.

I am in the middle of the river, halfway between two states on a VERY OLD, barge system & lo and behold, technology catches me in my quiet moment of sipping my coffee, enjoying the sunrise that mother nature has to offer, so that I may go and pick up a box of newly hatched baby birds.

Here’s another oddity that happened with my phone.

PLEASE NOTE: Trust me when I say that I am not making this up!

We had company and I didn’t have anything defrosted to cook. So I finally decide, after being back here for almost a year, that it was time to order in a pizza from town and go get it.

Sorry, it’s way to small of a town for deliveries and technically I am on the back side of town, so am excluded from any possible deliveries. No biggy, it’s a 6 mile drive with zero traffic at that time of night. Yay for small towns! Yes, I am very used to the small town way of things, which includes no deliveries.

So I give them a quick ring to place my order. I then head in to town to pick it up. Just as I am sitting down and handing out pieces of the delicious pie to everyone, my cell phone receives a text.

My first thought was, “Figures, just as I am about to plow in to my pizza!” My next thought was, “Huh, who the heck can that be, it’s almost 8:30 at night, I’m not expecting contact from anyone I know.”

I open the text and again, I am NOT making this up, it is from some random pizza delivery guy and he is desperately trying to find his customers correct apartment number, so that he may deliver their pizza, because the one that he has is most definitely NOT the right apartment number.

I stare at my phone in absolute disbelief, glance over at my pizza, which is ready for me to plow in to and just start laughing.

I responded to the individual that he not only has the wrong apartment number, but that he also just texted an incorrect cell phone number and yes, I let him know that I already had my pizza in front of me. Now to get to gnashing on it!

Ah, life in the modern world. Such strange things have happened to me as a result of having a phone on my hip.

    ONE MORE!

As much as I hate the thing, I did get in the habit of wearing it on my belt throughout my day. So I figured it would be a smart move to set the sound to vibrate while I was at work, just in case it did go off. A few days pass by and my phone is it’s normal quiet self, just hanging out in its holster.

As if picking up live chickens didn’t give it away, yes, I do a lot of odd things at my job. One them is that on occasion, I have to go outside and exchange a bottle of welding gas. Some are basic gases that are non-explosive, however, some are highly explosive.

I’m not exactly a timid individual when it comes to doing stuff, but I am definitely aware of what a bottle of explosive gas this size could do to me if it ignited. Ok, so don’t smoke around the darn thing, easy peasy. If it’s not leaking and there is nothing to ignite it, no harm. But, I definitely have it in my mind, as I start to handle them, just how dangerous these items are if the wrong conditions occurred.

So yeah, this was a relatively new task for me. I unlocked the cage and opened it wide, it took me a moment to recognize the proper gas and bottle size that we were exchanging. As I reached forward to grab it, of all moments to have it happen, my phone vibrates for the first time ever.

I had yet to feel what it would be like for my phone to vibrate me and yes, because of the exact moment that it did it, just as I was almost touching a highly explosive bottle of gas, it scared the begeezus out of me!

I did the classic jump out of my skin, had an audible, “Oooo!” escape my lips and yes, my hand froze and refused to go near the bottle, that is, until the brain kicked on and over rode my fear of what the hell that buzz I just felt was.

Since I had a very obvious, visible AND audible reaction when that thing decided to tickle me, the individual looked over at me with concern in their eyes and asked if I was ok.

Ahhhhh, HA HA HA HA !!

I couldn’t help myself, I started laughing like crazy.

As I composed myself, I explained what had just happened.

Yeah, he got a chuckle out of it too.

Life has always been fun and full of surprises, but I had no idea how much my cell phone would add to it.

    ~Hoofer

Oooooh, seeing them like that, both photos, really makes the difference. Alt-Tab helps, opening up two screens to view them next to each other is the best.

I really don’t think they look that similar Ms. Melody. The two color schemes that Pam posted are definitely different.

That Silver Grulla is amazing with all the extras added on to it. I am referring to the extra shading of the forelock, mane, tail, leg feathers and the hooves being a different color, including the ear edges being a different color. It looks fantastic with the gold horn offsetting the coloration. I suspect whatever color was used for that Silver Grulla is what you all are referring to as the ‘warm’ colors.

On the other side, the Blue Roan is also gorgeous. But it also looks to me like it would take less work as a production piece, so perhaps less money to purchase. There is no ‘extra’ shading going with it like the Silver Grulla and the color (what I suspect you all are calling ‘cool’ colors) looks fantastic with the silver horn.

I think the Blue Roan can be improved upon with a different brighter, shinier crystal. I have no idea the multitude of colors you have to choose from in the crystals but, the one in the photo appears to be a darkish purple. I think a brighter color would look better than the darkish one that was used.

Seeing that photo, I still regret missing out on the Grullas.

    OMGawd are they gorgeous!

    ~Hoofer

It’s probably a RSN kinda thingy.

I suspect the idea of the poll was for accumulating ideas for later.

Ya know, when they have all that free time to paint EVERYTHING.

    Ohhhhh, Ahhhhhh, Ohhhhhh, Ahhhhhh!

    Unicorns!

Linda’s Love is gorgeous, just like the other one you did with the scenery.

I’m not usually a fan of the fantasy style, but yours are so amazing with all their detail work.

I was nicknamed, at one place I worked, Arora Borealus(sp?). I figured it was because I can be quite multifaceted with my personality, but they corrected me and stated it was because how vibrant and shiny (positive minded, positive influence to those around me) I can be.

    It’s long overdue.

    AMAZING WORK!

Sunrise Horizon. Amazing scenery on her/him.
Penelope (Grey w/pinstriping) we’re discussing a possible new line with silver horned Unicorns, grey w/white mane & tails! Imagine that. :->
Peacock Eye Wip – OMG I missed buying that one (IN A HEARTBEAT, if the funds allowed it) Do you recall how much you sold her/him for?
Peacock Eye Green – Lovely, but not as keen on the Greens, definitely a BLUE woman.

All of your Keepers, Wolves and definitely the Foos. Here’s a tidbit for you, I never really cared for the Foos until I saw the ones you painted. OMGawd! That’s how I imagined they looked back in the day, when they were first created for the Dynasty’s, with all their vibrant colors, standing guard over their masters in the Orient.

    Oh yeah, your work, AMAZING!

Warm regards and you all have a BEE YOU T FULL day.

    ~Hoofer

And Hoofer finally Neighs in! Yay for Hoofer LUV.

I think the blue silver dapple would look nice if they had a white blaze and socks… make ’em pop and look different than the grullas too. 🙂

Actually, since you added the white blaze/socks (GREAT IDEA BTW), the blue silver with whitish mane and tail would definitely be AWESOMESAUCE.

I can see white knee high socks, with black just above it for the offset of the color of the main body.

I can also see a dorsal strip that matches the dark/black layering above the white socks, which would be offset with the whitish mane and tail. You could blend the white tail to the dorsal strip going down the tail dock with black (top and side area) for separating the body color from the white.

The mane could have the dorsal stripe into it too, at the base, since it comes out/stands up from the neck.

    To reiterate:

A muted silvery style body, which blends with the silver horn.

    White (perhaps even creamy) mane/tail.

White socks and blaze (blaze optional) aka eye candy.

A much darker color, we’ll use black for argument sake, for shading above the socks, the muzzle, along the base of the mane, which would be the length of the neck and would drop down into a dorsal strip to the tail and then shade the area atop the tail, which would offset the main body color and the creamy/white tail.

The hooves would have to be a silvery color that matches the horn, just cuz.

Rich brown eyes or possibly deep blue, who knows. I’m not big on the light blue eyes, it’s a me thing though. If you had the light cream/brown eyes, those would probably look hot too.

    ~Neigh!

in reply to: The dark side of Hoofers and stuffs #916506

Thanks Etruscan, I added the two baby Hades Pegasi to my collection and that Rising Spectral.

WOW is he awesome. One word came to mind when I saw it, HAWT!!

Now to find a photo of the Hades mother Pegasus and Griffin.

Those zombiecorns are just freaky deaky to look at. It’s the milky white eyes for sure.

I can so see the Hades collection all together and lit up with some candles in a dark room. The flicker of the candlelight bouncing off their blackened bodies and flashing in their red eyes. OoooEeeeeOooooo

    ~Hoofer

Well if the jewel color was changed for these store versions of the white secret keepers, then why can’t the jewel color be changed so Black Grand Unicorns can be released in the store? *Pretty please!*

Why oh why did I click on this thread?!

    Black Grands . . .

What horse nut here doesn’t want the Black Grand to complete their black herd?

I was a tad bummed when I realized how few black Unicorns were actually sold during their Brick and Mortar days, especially the Black Grands. I recall a response from Ms. Melody several years back about how the black Unicorns did not sell as well as the whites and that the few black Grands that did go out to Brick and Mortars were like a market test.

I have no idea how long the black Unicorn family was offered, nor when it was retired. But I do know that none of the free WE catalogues that I would grab when I saw them at the Wicks and Sticks showed the black Unicorns, only the white ones. Until I discovered the WE website, I never even knew of the black Unicorns.

Who here remembers the Black Grand that sold on eBay for something like $1k?

I sometimes find myself pondering if that guy made it safely to it’s new owner.

I’m not so sure Ms. Melody wants to reopen up a stated ‘retired’ line. Like a lot of you though, I don’t see the complications with remaking the black Unicorns. Although I’m sure they have their reasons. I’m just glad that they have a workable solution to their horns.

in reply to: Pegasus Colours #916251

I would LOVE if you did Blue Morpho pegasus after you finish the dragons.

Me too, but my pocket SO would not. I’m still making up for the buying frenzy I did earlier this year. I’m not regretting it. My thoughts, why work your butt off if you can’t allow yourself to enjoy SOMETHING?

I’m hoping the crickets in this thread are a representation of a ‘surprise’ for us Hoofer lovers. I know I find myself checking the WE site several times a week, just to keep in touch with all the kewl, new releases.

The Blue Morpho color scheme is such a huge hit. I am so happy for Windstone. Speaking of which, I saw a gorgeous blue butterfly last week at the back end of my barn just flitting around. It had black points and prominent black circles on its wings. I just stared at it thinking how wonderfully happenstance it was that it was flitting about and yes, I thought of Windstone and Brandi’s work as I watched it do its thing. I have NO idea what kind it was, but it sure had the coloration of the blues in the blue morpho color scheme.

    Bumpity, bump, bump, BUMP!

    How about moar Pegasi Buckskins?!

How about Grulla(ish) Unicorns with perty shiny SILVER horns?

    Hoofers need LUV.

    ~Hoofer

I think we should do unicorns with the polished pewter horns. I like them. Maybe a new regular color? and pyos??
    whadoya think?
-but the important part is we have -HORNS!! HORNS!! HORNS!!

You KNOW what ‘I’ think. :->
