You should be able to get copies of your images either on film or cd. Just ask and if they say no you can say you have a right under the HIPPA laws to have your information that they have.
Typically, you need to ask the medical records department for those. They have to give you a copy, but they can charge you a reasonable amount for getting you copies. “Reasonable” might not be the actual word the legislation used, but something along those lines. It has to be proportionate to the actual work required to make and send the copies.

FWIW, I was told by several doctors at the hospital for the pulmonary emboli that I needed to get and keep a copy of the medical records with me at all times, I tried, but they were going to charge me over $100- money I didn’t have, so it never happened. Drag0n may be able to get a CD of her X-rays, but they may be more than she can afford. I think the hospitals operate on *they* own the records, not you.
How long ago was that? Before or after HIPAA? I think it was HIPAA that introduced the requirement for providing records at a reasonable cost.

It was in September of ’14. Maybe $100+ is considered ‘reasonable’ to well paid hospital, government and insurance employees. Certainly after emergency vascular surgery they had to fly specialists in from Shands for, a week in CVICU, and multiple procedures, there would have been an encyclopedias worth of papers. For me though, it’s a huge chunk of my income and if I did that, I might as well forget eating or paying some bill.
I do think Drag0n would have an easier time getting a CD of her xrays as opposed to actual films.
I don’t know what the doctor/hospital integration situation is where drag0n lives. Here a lot of the doctor’s offices have a connection to the local hospital and can access xrays and other information directly.
No idea. Funny thing is my brother in law is one of the ER surgeons there and he’s also been less then helpful in obtaining information. I feel like they don’t even know their own rules and obligations.
My chiropractor said he could request them directly if needed. I signed the necessary paperwork giving him permission so. *shrug*
For now I’m just trying to take it day by day. I’m marginally improving here and there but then I do something stupid because I am who I am and I can’t just walk by something and not fix it or clean it. I have too much integrity in my job I, but at the same token I try to test myself a little and see what I truly can and cannot do. Also I have 7 animals to look after and you can’t just ignore things like the litter box and the daily “hck hck hck hck HAIRBALL” soaking into the carpet.
I will say one thing. I have NEVER dropped so many stupid things as I have when I had this issue. I rarely drop anything… I’m organized and fast paced. I talk fast, I move fast. I’m not used to doing everything in slow motion and I’m suddenly like Mandy McFumbles and every 10 seconds I’m dropping a pen, my cellphone, sunglasses, papers are flying off my desk, random crap just randomly falling out of my purse! It’s like WHY?! I do not want to bend over and pick this stuff up!
OMG! I was getting out of my car (which is a struggle in itself) so because I’m wiggling around trying to get a grip on my car to pull myself out of it change was falling out of my pockets, I’m hunched over having to brace myself against the pavement while I’m picking up the change and my phone falls out of my bag. I get the stupid phone and I my bottle of soda pops out from under my arm and it rolls under the car. Cane smacks against the ground behind me from being leaned against the car from when I was initially trying to get out of the car and I’m screaming “SERIOSULY RIGHT NOW!?” in a pool of scattered belongings. It’s freaking maddening.

Dreamscape, Orion, Poison Dart, Fireberry, Spangler + Tigerberry DragonsAre there adjustments in your routines you can make to make things easier for yourself? It sounds like you have more than enough battles to fight, if you can find places to save effort, you can focus more on the big battles.
Raise the litter boxes up so you don’t have to bend over (set them on a big bin?), or switch to a style that is easier to clean, or see if there’s a super-long armed scoop (or make one: duct tape + a pole + your usual scoop). One of my cats eats wheat / cat grass and that seems to prevent her from getting hairballs, the other always hacks up on small area rugs – so I always keep grass and a few washable small rugs scattered around.
For the car – I know they make swivel seats and suction-cup grab bars to help you get in and out. “Whatever Works” is a fun catalog to browse through for a lot of reasons, but I know I’ve seen mobility aids in it. I don’t know how good they are, but couldn’t hurt to consider.
For dropping stuff – roller bag! You might be able to find a cheap one somewhere. Or a roller cart. It can’t fall far if it’s already on the ground, and it might be easier on your back to pull or push along, than carry that weight. At the very least, a zip-top bag that you can close. Can you find a fun lanyard to put the sunglasses on? One of those grip-things for your cell phone? At the risk of sounding preachy (and I note you’re only a few years older than me, so I’m just trying to think how I’d try to deal) – take a moment to breathe and center yourself between tasks. Deal with getting out of the car. Then grab the cane. Then deal with grabbing the rest of your gear.
Final thought on the dropsies – get a distance-picker-upper-thing like people use for picking up litter, or grabbing things out of tall cabinets. And you’re an artist – I bet you can turn it into your Fetch Familiar with a little paint, eyes, and fuzzy fur. If life’s throwing you hard balls, you might at least have a little fun throwing curve balls back.

That is well after HIPAA was passed. The “reasonable” requirement is that they aren’t supposed to charge more than their actual estimated costs. I suspect that a lot of that cost was a “per page” cost that is based on only copying a couple pages. In reality, the expense of copying is a setup cost + a much lower per page cost. I guess that is how they can get away with charging so much. I bet if someone were to sue over it, the hospital would be required to change the formula. Of course, it costs a bunch of money to sue in the first place.

Well, just another week and a half until I have an actual appointment with an actual doctor so that’s exciting.
Very good advice on all whisker hunter, I did get a “grabby” thing for around the house. I actually have been using it to help put on my pants in the morning. Things are getting a little better each day. I’m still far from 100% and I’m still getting a lot of odd tingling feelings in my hands and arms. I have figured out I can’t lift of my feet from the hip, keeping my leg straight, but if I bend my knee I’m getting more movement then I was. My back is buldging now in the upper middle area. No pain, but its just odd. The chiropractor said it is a muscle spasm, but it doesn’t feel like to me. I dunno. Ugh.
The suction cup grab bar is a really good idea for the car. I might try that!
On the work front the mistress of misery goes on another two week vacation after July 4th. Fine with me!!! Buh Bye!

She’s been there less than a year and has already had one week’s vacation, is expecting to go on vacation again in August, AND she’ll also get two weeks vacation after July 4th? FOUR WEEKS in one year? Well – the year isn’t over yet, is it?!? Do you think she’ll rack up another week before the end of 2019?I work for a Non-Profit and get 5 weeks a year vacation, but I’ve also been working there for almost 15 years…. WTF?!?!

If you think having a lariat or eyeglass holder or whatever they’re called would help, but you can’t find any you like – I make jewelry as a hobby, and could probably make something in your colors. I’ve seen “helper” necklaces that use a keychain ring as a “pendant”, that the glasses are then tucked through, or what I think of as the “classic librarian” style that use the little loops to attach to the frame… um, what word? side thingymajig. I also can do keychains. A magnet keychain might be useful – clip one side to your belt or purse, other side to your keys, then instead of dropping your keys into your purse you just let the key-half snap to the clip-half, and the big magnets are pretty darn sturdy.

Just an update. Had my official Dr.’s appointment and WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!
The Dr. didn’t even check me over, do a physical, take blood, do ANYTHING. It’s been over two months now since I hurt myself so with the physical therapy I am moving pretty good right now, it’s really only major bending, lifting, or getting up from a seated position that is still really causing me noticeable discomfort, (ie. wincing from sudden stabbing or unexpected pain) but I am still going to the chiropractor twice a week. So the guy checked my reflexes by hitting my knees with the little rubber mallet thingy and rubs my elbows and says I am fine. Exact words “Dr.’s don’t treat pain, they treat sickness and you are not sick.” I asked for a referral for an MRI so I could find out what is causing this pain, whether it be a pinched nerve, a slipped or herniated disc, sciatica, whatever and he said it wasn’t necessary I just need to exercise more.
Really? I move like a turtle so how the hell am I supposed to exercise more? So he says I just need a better diet, but he would gladly write me a referral for a breast reduction, but I certainly don’t need an MRI. Freaking kidding me?
Then he asks, (which I knew was coming) When the last time I got a PAP was and that’s been over 15 years and you would have thought I told him I ate a gallon of bacon grease for breakfast, lunch and dinner. OMG! We need to get that looked at right away! I didn’t come in here for that! I know it’s been a long time, but my periods are normal and regular and I’ve had the same partner for over a decade. How about we talk about my debilitating back pain that kept me out of work for almost two weeks which is why I am here. Nope. Make an appointment with my gynecologist and let me know how it goes. Have a nice day. What a freaking joke!In the meantime, I am now ULTRA pissed off at my coworker. Not for anything she did at work, but she has been haunting me for a kitten. The cat at my sister’s work had babies (just a feral cat she feeds) and though she has been trying to catch them it’s been too difficult. She can get the mom, but of course doesn’t want to leave the babies without their mother so she keeps letting the mother cat go again but she can’t catch the babies. (She’s a smart momma cat honestly and gets the food out of the trap and brings it to the babies rather then the babies go get the food themselves) I honestly wouldn’t want to give her a kitten in the first place cause her two kids are mental. I told her that the kittens were feral and even if we did catch them, they would need to be vet checked for diseases and could have fleas, etc. She’s like “Oh, I don’t care. I’d bring it to the vet and do all that stuff.” but nevertheless, I just didn’t want to get involved because I just had a bad feeling about it. We didn’t catch the kittens anyway, but even if we did I would have been really reluctant to give her one.
So she finally gives up on waiting on me and goes and gets a kitten from somewhere else, telling me it’s a shelter kitten she adopted. This was right before she went on vacation. Well, like an idiot yesterday I ask how the kitten is doing.
“Oh, the kitten died”
“WHAT!? What do you mean it died!? What happened?”
“Oh I don’t know. It just sat in a corner looking at the wall for 4 or 5 days and kept throwing up blood and when I got home from shopping with the kids the other day it was dead.”I had no words. I visualized myself punching her in the face in that very moment. My car payment flashed before my eyes and I managed just to ask her why she didn’t bring it to the vet!? and she literally said I didn’t have time. YOU WERE ON F%&*#@ VACATION! She didn’t go away to Aruba or something but because she was moving into her new home she and her husband bought she didn’t have the time to tend to a 6 week old kitten that was obviously suffering for DAYS. I felt sick. She was more upset the vomit stained her new carpet.
I want to grab her by the back of her head and smash face into her desk until she throws up blood so I can ask her if she thinks she needs a doctor. I literally had no idea I could hate her more then I already did.
