Thanks Tig3r. Good to know someone was routing for me lol. And Kim, I’m not sure if I’d call 25% higher then the retail a “good deal” but, then again I didn’t go and literally get a small personal loan to buy that piece which for this auction, that’s exactly what I did. That’s how bad I wanted it. (Am I crazy? Yea probably a little bit) but I’m just really sore about it. I’m sure as soon as I miss the cougar announcement I’ll have something new to whine about. In the mean time I saved the pictures from the auction to my phone so I can at least admire it that way.

I just saw thaw sale price on that Ori. Wow Drag0n. I’m sorry you didn’t get him. I rememember those high prices auctions, Drag0n. And I admit you outbid me on several of them. Please don’t think everyone of those was still bidding. You and I like some of the same things, and I’ve paid some crazy prices for a few of my pieces. Hugs. Peacock Sunburst Griffins come to mind. We love you here. Please don’t let a few bad apples poison your joy. Or a few crazy collectors who love something as much as you do. It hurts to loose something you love, but I have faith that Melody will always paint something new that I love….maybe even more than something I already love.

Thanks Setsuna, The Peacock Sunburst griffin was the first “big” windstone auction I won if I recall. That was easily 10 years ago! Wow! I remember the good old days when I didn’t have a mortgage and could throw thousands down on pieces. Back when I didn’t have a car payment. LOL! Adulting is no fun!

and yeah, and since I love the old animals, I collect pctures as well but I don’t have a bobcat…..

Am I right that the photo shows bobcats that were sold about 2006? Those would be old unpainted castings that Windstone found when packing for the Great Move to Corvallis. Melody painted them and they were sold on ebay.
Presumably there also are some original bobcats that were sold in the 1980s as part of the original animal line. No telling how many of those exist, but they’re rare!

For anyone who doesn’t know – You can identify original animals from the 1980s by the Windstone Editions stamp on the bottom (no felt). Old castings that were painted later and sold on ebay have a felt pad.

not sure of the age of the picture, 2006 would’ve been long before I came to the forums, I didn’t get here until a month or two after I got married in 2011….I probably found the picture in an old Ebay cart thread back before photobucket stopped letting things be free to upload or letting pictures been remotely linked…..

2006 sounds about right. I can get you the exact date when I get home. Windstone found a few unpainted bobcats when they moved. 10 were painted like you see in the pic. There was a black one. I think that was all of them.
In addition to the bobcats, Melody found a few bears, a lion, some prototype baby kirins, and two proto-prototype baby kirins.

Interesting … I did not know about the kirins. I believe there also were some scratching dogs, frogs, and cats.
