I really like the drybrushing and the card symbols!
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

June 1, 2009 at 12:57 am #760899I like how the griffin is turning out. I was hoping the PYO griffin I ordered would have shown up this weekend, but no such luck.
June 1, 2009 at 4:24 am #760900I hear ya. I sent off payment for 2 boxes…Got one, and somehow, I haven’t seen the other yet…Last one first, first one last. 😆 My PYO’s are in the 2nd box…I jsut finished painting my upstairs hallway. What a pain to paint such big rooms…BUt what a break due to lack of details! XD
Thanks everyone! I like him alot too! I like The Gambler (Makes me think of Kenny Rogers!). Although Casino has a nice ring too… 😀

June 1, 2009 at 12:42 pm #760902I like the card inspired griffy! Very cool.
June 1, 2009 at 3:29 pm #760903That griffy is really cool. What a neat idea – and very well done 😀 !

I’m thinking, “Aces”, or “Poker”, or “Black Jack”, but a couple of those actually could be used on other paint schemes about card playing…I don’t know. 😕
But here are a couple updated photos. I still am contemplating what to do with his flights so far…What I had in mind might be complicated enough to keep him on a shelf unfinished until I work myself up to it. 😳
Bright outdoor light.
Indoor indirect light (North window).
Off-side indoor indirect light…(Who’s that in the background!?!?)Gamblers would love him! 😀 Will you be keeping him or selling one day?
He has a chip out of his eyebrow on the red side of his head. It’s not a MONSTER, but its still pretty noticable (you can see it in the last pic). I hadn’t planned on selling him. I just wanted to see what I could do with a themed Griffin. I mean, I’ve done hawks, and parrots, and on and on. (Jewel was one of my favorites I did, along with Sunny.) So, one night Scott and I were over at his cousin’s house, just hanging around and watching him play online poker. I though, “What a cool idea, a card themed Griffin.” and when we got home at 1am, I sat down to a piece of paper, and doodled out the idea I had for him. I was looking for something to do with the powder pigment Griffin, and this is what happened to him. I have a nice bunch of powders, but I am intrigued, and mortified of them at the same time. If I get the chance to put in a big order for PYO’s then maybe I will have one extra in there to play with, and try it again. but until then, I am gonna just stick to the paint in tubes. 😉
I am however working on a Mardis Gras theme for a Griffin, I’m more in love with painting them than anything else, so I will skip the dragon and leave that to DM! 8) I also have ideas drawn out for an Egyptian Griff, and a Grapevine Griff…Alot of ideas bumping around in there, even a tropical themed one. He’s next on the slate when I finish Mmloda’s swap piece. Unless I get more single swaps. I also want to paint a Griff to match each of my kitties. 😳June 2, 2009 at 7:13 am #760905That’s such a cool idea, WSC, and you pulled it off nicely. He looks great.
June 2, 2009 at 3:13 pm #760906Thanks GB! 😀
I must confess…Those card marks, while not photoshopped, are another form of a cheat I guess. They are now painted, but at that time weren’t. I put them on at dusk at a cookout/campfire. What can I say? I suffer from social awkwardness at times, and its a getaway there too. lol (Although someone suggested I put a thong on him, and garters… :nea: )However, I am thinking I might put a tiny black bowtie on him when he is done. 8)
Hint**(Sharpies are nice for more than just drawing photos) 😳June 4, 2009 at 5:26 am #760907Hey, if it gives the desired effect go for it!
I’m in favor of the bowtie idea.
I just noticed Master Boreas in the background. Looks like he’s getting along comfortabl with your flock of griffins.June 5, 2009 at 2:44 am #760908I *will* get your box shipped out tomorrow or Tuesday (failing tomorrow). I promise!
June 8, 2009 at 9:56 am #760909He is really cool looking, you did a great job on him!

June 8, 2009 at 2:18 pm #760911Yeah, WSC asked for a Prax-style griffin. You still have my most popular piece, lamorte. 😀
