The Trip

So I’m officially on the trip! It was delayed for a day – when I saw my oncologist I was still dehydrated so he gave me more fluids and changed some meds. He stopped the Tarceva which seems to have been making me really sick and not helping. I’ve felt much better since I came off it. I just have a b ad case of laryngititis – my friend Sue is driving across country with someone who can’t talk!

Yesterday we made it to the beginning of Skyline Drive at the Shenandoah National Park and did the first 30 miles during sunset. It was spectacular – the foothills were shades of purple and the views were incredible. We also saw a bunch of deer – fortunately none ran into the road in front of us,

Today we might try to check out a cavern and finish Skyline Drive then head to Knoxville.

Hopefully I’ll be able to post every couple of days.
