So a friend happened to favorite several items on etsy which shows up in my feed so I investigated further, I’m genuinely unsure if this is appropriate use of windstones hence my posting here, but she uses the statues in several pictures to promote her own products https://www.etsy.com/shop/PurplecatCreatives this caught my eye especially, I can’t find this griffin as a windstone candle holder but if it isn’t authentic it’s most certainly a knock off. https://www.etsy.com/listing/90795095/mega-jar-body-butter?ref=shop_home_active Again, she’s selling her own product and just using them as props, I’m not sure how the rules fall on something like that.

That etsy store belongs to forum member purplecat. If you scroll down to the bottom of the description on that item page, you will see that she credits Windstone for the Hippogryph candle holder.

Oh okay well I’m glad. Like I said I wasn’t sure if that fell under any grey areas. Sorry purplecat =)

This looks like a recast. First I thought repaint then, I noticed the white bare patches and realized that they dont look like chips, but bare plaster…

I’m not 100% sure, but based on the eye and jewel color, I believe this poor guy is a really, really bad re-paint of a white dragon. Ugh! It’s painful! Usually on recasts, there’s oddness going on with the eyes, and I don’t see that here.

I was eyeing this guy too, the poor poor thing =( Not only is the paint horrible but it doesn’t even appear to have a protective coat. That gives me hope it could be repainted but ugh almost 30 bucks for shipping? I do agree the eyes make me think it was a majestic white male… at one time.

Only 30 bucks shipping? You guys are pampered 😛 Would cost me 45 from Windstone though if the seller’s marking the shipping up I’d probably get charged 50-60 bucks shipping if the seller was willing to ship to Canada.

The shipping is for expedited priority shipping. The seller might be willing to ship standard although it isn’t offered in the listing. Just gotta ask 🙂

it just seems really rough edged if you put the pic up next to a normal male. beside just saying they could have popped the eyes out for cast and ordered more..not saying ti would be possible, but still quite sad.

Ms.Melody,I came across this on Ebay.I have one of your Razorbacks and am always looking for one more for Amber{she was born in Arkansas.GO HOGS!} so when I saw this I jumped for joy.BUT…at closer inspection,I said WOW!This thing isn’t from the same batch as mine. The snout is all wrong,it’s eyes are wrong ,tail and hooves look a little off.It does not have a pad so I was wondering if this was a prototype or such? DO you think someone broke the snout and then made another one?The snout color is way different from mine also. Thanks for answering.

Bodine – That looks like one of the original batch from when they were first offered. They didn’t have pads and were stamped on the bottom. They would have been painted a bit differently from how the small batch of leftover castings from the factory move a few years ago were painted (they were painted well over a decade apart after all). The eyes that were used originally had a paint that, over time, pulled away from the eye (I don’t think they were fired on like the paint is now or it was the paint used). I’m sure Melody can confirm, but I think you have one of the really old first ones offered. 🙂

I can confirm that this is one of the original ones. They were painted more reddish than the newer ones. They also had copper eyes and just a stamp on the bottom. I have one just like him. 🙂
