I was lurking this thread and found out the item is still up for sale even now in 2016:

        Disgraceful! 🙁
That someone would blatantly and boldly make a mold of another Artist’s sculpture and sell it to promote others to copy!
Did you send this information to John? They have an ironclad Copyright Infringement case here!

Completely awful for that eBay seller to do! 🙁

IN SEARCH OF MY NEXT GRAILS:
Black Peacock & Butternut Adult Poads
        Kickstarter 'Rainbow Tiger' Bantam Dragon

Not yet, but that was a surprise to find. Now that I see that mold that explains the googly-eyed Mother dragon a couple pages back. Look though the string of relistings from the previous page I found it from. you’ll see at least one of their molds sold. I suspect that “Mother” dragon came from this mold.

I was wondering why the eye was cracked and why there was so much glue around the jewels. They probably had attempted to mash the eyes and gems (I’m guessing flatbacks) onto the round surface over the eyes and gemstones. Since that generates a gap, they had to fill it somehow. This explains the glue overflow.

I don’t have the budget to buy any of the dragons on ebay, I just add them to my watch list to see what sells and how much. Fortunately I had a real one on my watch list to compare the fake to. It was really interesting. lots of casting flaws and bubbles in the fake that weren’t in the original. That’s another interesting thing to observe. Even the PYO dragon I got showed very few if any air bubble holes.

Speaking of the Mother dragon fake. It is still up for sale.

This might explain why the right eye is chipped and cracked. If it came from the fake mold above, they would have to carve out the eyes in order to put a new set in. It looks like they forced the fit too much with the right eye.

This thread is EIGHT! (wow!) years old now, and getting quite long and hard for the forum to handle in some ways. The original post is also long since missing, sadly! I’ve started a new thread for us here: http://windstoneeditions.com/the-windstone-forum/topic/reports-of-fake-knock-off-windstones-and-general-infringements/
