Gah! They are all so gorgeous!! I love the picture of the last palomino that you did with the sun setting over her shoulder – it looks perfect and so realistic!

I continue to love love love your style of Kirins.. and I continue to be SO happy with the one that you made me. Aiakos is still my favorite and he sits on a shelf next to my computer so I can adore him daily 🙂 I have yet to get some spray on conditioner though!! Both he and Amalthea could use a little grooming XD

Wow, we sure have been keeping you busy! lol

*happy dance* I love my unicorn, scenceable! And I looove seeing all the pictures of other peoples equines as well. I think you could sell prints of some of the more artistic ones-really! The photos are so beautiful and look so real.

I love the Winter lore Kirin you did-he/she looks so wise. And Rhythm the Kirin foal too-he looks like a fairy ^_^ love it!

Sometimes what I do is just mush some conditioner onto my fingers, get it a bit wet, and run my hands over their hair a bit. I have a really old spray bottle from spray conditioner I bought a couple years ago and have just filled it up with water and actual conditioner. Real spray on conditioner is pretty expensive. 🙂

Thanks again guys, I never used to do outdoor photos at all but it’s been fun getting different ones. I just wish I had a better place to take them, as of now I end up walking down to the park which is always full of kids and stuff. Wish I had a backyard! Hehe

You do absolutely lovely work! I’m especially crazy about your Ki-rins! I will definitely commission one or trade for one at some point! I just have to give my CC a little bit of time to recover.

There’s something about Gala that really delights me, but they’re all beautiful! Thanks for posting; life hasn’t left me enough breathing space to visit your Facebook page recently. 🙁

scenceable your work is completely fantabulous!!! When you sculpt a new “friend”, do you start from scratch or do you work over some kind of base or skeleton? The two that are running together are right spot on the money. Completely, utterly perfect! How long does it generally take to create such lovely pieces of art? and what are your commission fees like? Thanks for sharing such a marvelous talent with us!

She actually has a tutorial on how she makes these from start to finish! I think it’s on her deviant art page maybe? I read through the whole thing and was tempted to try one on my own but I’m pretty sure they’d pale in comparison with her beauties XD

AHA! I found em 😀 Hope you dont mind me posting links to these Scenceable 🙂

                    Thanks so much everyone! 🙂

That tutorial certainly explains the basic process but it’s from 2008 or so and my techniques have changed a lot. Since then I’ve put up a little baking clay tutorial on deviantart here: http://scenceable.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d41ooc6

I also have a website with information on commissions as well as a big FAQ section that answers a bunch of stuff and has more tutorial links. It’s here: http://quequinoxart.com/

Twindragonsmum- I make them from scratch 🙂 I’m never sure exactly how long they take to make. I usually work on several at once and so usually it takes me around 4-6 weeks to get once done. I would say maybe 10-15 hours for each one maybe.

I’m starting my last year at university this week and so I closed commissions for now. When I reopen it is likely the pricing will be different. Right now the average prices for equines are $120-$160, will probably go up to $150-$200. I’m not really sure yet though how I want to do it though, I’m not really thinking about them much right now 😛

I will still definatly want a pair of Kirins from you sometime after you reopen 🙂 Ive found that the hair on the unicorns gets fluffy if you touch it a lot. At least Autumn’s Requiem does..I like petting her 🙂 I will have to get some conditioner to put in he hair so it wont loose that lovely wild curl it has.

Crowfeather, I haven’t, though I really want to do a portrait of Zenyatta sometime for a friend of mine. An artist named Nina Kaiser did a gorgeous bronze of Zenyatta and the horse’s connections had a contest for fans to win a copy of the bronze. Well my friend got second place in the contest of thousands of people, it was cool but kind of sucked to get that close and lose! So I was thinking it’d be nice to do a painted with hair version for her. But it would take a lot of time and I haven’t got around to it. I need more practise with portraits anyway so it’s a good excuse! 🙂

Well, maybe your friend will let you babysit the bronze for a while so you can mess around with a few practise sculpts. I bet you would make an awesome Zenyatta! You could always grab a sketch book and go down to the track and watch a morning work for inspiration. Don’t sit that close they may try to put you to work, lol. 😉

Aw no, she didn’t win the bronze. She lost and got second by a very slim amount, it sucked! I think the bronzes run like $1300 so I couldn’t have like, bought one for her either haha. I love watching the horses workout at the track, but woodbine is like 3 hours from here so it would be quite a trip to get there.

Are you near Fort Erie, or any of the smaller tracks? Bring your camera, grab a pitchfork and a muck-basket, and lend a hand. Then they will let you take all the pictures you want. Racehorses look most real coming off the track after a morning workout. Thats when the heart and soul shines through. ..and P.S. , I reread your post about your friend finishing second, and not winning the bronze. LOL, I gotta start paying attention.
