Like that Keeper a lot but your wolf grabbed my attention.I love that idea.Where’re the bats?LOL kidding.It reminded me of a “Batman” wolf.
Haha, I should paint a wolf with bats! 😀 that would be pretty cool 😀 I’m really happy with how this one turned out. It is a commissionable paint scheme too, if anyone is interested 🙂

Here is my newest Keeper, “Catcher”
Catcher is base colored with tea stain, to which I must have been using the wrong kind of tea or something, because after an evening of thinking I was staining him all pretty with depth and detail, the next morning he looked like he was almost the exact same color overall! *giggle* so I decided to try something new! and added india ink to him… I was very happy with how this was working, and the colors I chose reminded me of Navajo jewelry, so I ran with it!
The fun thing of painting with india ink is how unpredictable it can be, making each piece it’s painted on very unique and completely unable to duplicate perfectly (I also had to pray I didn’t make a mistake, as I was staining the dragon, not painting him, undoing something wasn’t an option!)… as you can see on his horns, there are areas where the color didn’t take, leaving a nice texture (I like it anyway) it is all in how the gypsum is going to react in absorbing the ink, after working on this piece, I figured out many ways to work with the ink on the gypsum and how to control it better! So I’m looking forward to working with this medium again in the future 🙂I’m mostly certain this dragon is now done! I’m going to look him over real well and make sure I’m not forgetting something, since once he’s been clear coated I won’t be able to apply anymore ink to him…
he has details done in silver, inspired by most Navajo jewelry being silver with turquoise and some reddish brown stones… he has metallic teal eyes (not glued in the photos) and his Keep is a sterling silver dream catcher that I made… the dream catcher isn’t quite done yet, the silver feathers I was originally going to use hang too low on it, so I need a trip to my bead store and see if I can find something nice and unique to hang from the dream catcher that won’t hang too low! lol.. so right now the dream catcher is only hanging by the dragons paw with a twisty tie XDHe will be for sale as soon as he’s finished (within the next couple of days) so if you’re interested in making me an offer, please feel free to send me a message! 🙂
The photos are a bit bright, it was super windy out when I went to photo him yesterday, so I wasn’t able to get into the right lighting.. and of course today was super gloomy, lol!

The work in progess of my newest lil project (well, one of four current projects lol)… He started life as a completely different piece, but the black base didn’t look quite the way I wanted with the orange for the particular dragon I was working on… but I still really liked the look! So I figured I’d start over on the other blank keeper I had, and run with this guy..
I’d show off the one that this was supposed to be like.. but I wanna make him look a smidgen less messy before he makes his debut ;p lol! lil snot has fought back a bit more than the others lol! and the other two can’t be posted here…Anywho, here is my Halloween dragon! 🙂 I’m currently calling him my Trick or Treat dragon, but I’m open for other name ideas! As I think there is something better suited for him… I just haven’t thought of it yet.
Also just noticed I never did get a photo of the fully finished Treasure Map Kirin posted.. (along with a couple others that have since been finished *slaps hand* bad me!)

Bodine, I really love how that Kirin turned out too! (Hence why I’m surprised I never got the finished photos up!) I had the image in my head, but he really worked with me and turned out better than I had expected! I keep telling myself I’m going to buy another Kirin PYO to make one for myself! except I want a lil sea monster on his map as well.. maybe a ship, if I can somehow find the space! haha XD Maybe I should make a map one and a pirate one as a pair? *Giggle* that’d be quite cute if I could figure out how to make the pirate one look.. pirate~y? lol, without an eye patch.. OH, maybe a lil bandanna on the head? XD oh goodness.. someone go catch my imagination for me?? I have so many ideas to paint already! haha
I love the old world aged parchment look you achieved on the Kirin! VERY nice. The map looks just like an old style treasure map, right down to the compass points. And the accent colors look great. Congratulations!
I like the orange and purple on the dragon too. You’ll have to post more pics once you get the Keeper’s eyes in!

So here I present, Maleficent! A while back I was watching Sleeping Beauty and decided then and there that I really wanted to do a Maleficent dragon… once I finished my last commission, Desert Sunset… I went all crazy painting this girl 🙂

Face, Tail and Wing details:
She has Dichroic glass eyes, the following photos show a bit of how they change color (Can glow a bright gold with a very light hint of green, to bright green, and forest green all the way to royal blue!), but doesn’t capture how radiant they really are! I almost didn’t order dirchroic for her, but I’m beyond happy that I did!
