Here is my in progress hippocampus. Surprise! He’s blue! :bigsmile: The detail on the base is just phenomenal. It is taking me way more time to do the work on that, but I’m loving how it’s turning out. Sorry for the creepy no eyes.

Here’s my fall swap. My swapee pretty much gave me free rein, but mentioned that she like paint jobs based on animals or natural patterns. I had this idea in my head for awhile, so I went with it. The pattern is loosely based on some different color morphs of leopard geckos. The eyes are by dreamingtree and he has a Siam colored jewel. I named him Firestorm, after one of my favorite super heroes from Saturday morning cartoons.

Guess. :bigsmile: Blue of course! I got some from Dreamingtree, just a slightly different blue than the ones I got with it.

I really like the dreaming tree eyes I’ve seen people use, I need to eventually get some for myself!

Not sealed yet, and the eyes and jewels are not glued in, but I had to see the whole thing together! The pics are a little washed out; it’s hard to get good lighting during this time of year and I am NOT going outside right now and freezing my tushie off just for better light. I swear, I spent more time on the rock than the hippie. I LOVE how it turned out though! The sculpting on this piece is phenomenal! The white fin parts are pearly, as well as the fetlock hair on the lower legs. I added some light pinking to the white snip on the nose, but it is hard to see. This is the first time I did a base in black (the hippie part) and then did the blue over that. It worked wonderfully! I knew that antiquing it might be a tad bit more difficult so I tried this way.

You did a great job! I love the blue sheen to the tail! And I agree, I think the rocks and corals were harder to paint than the actual hippocampus!

I am waiting to get one and my colors are blue and white also for the body,but teals and white instead of the rich blue you used and opposites in placement.Or so I hope.They are such a lovely sculpt,can’t wait to get a couple.Every act matters.No matter how small💞
