I bet $427- that is my official bet

Is there some reasoning behind that particular number? Just curious…
December 29, 2006 at 6:58 pm #520603None whatsoever, it’s all perception really- her last one sold for $355 and change and the copperplate is gorgeous, and like Melody said, her work keeps getting better, I think with the intensity on this board someone will be spending a lot of money, not to mention the very fact it is “private ids” will probably increase its value even more because clearly Windstone is very interested in this piece and its success to go to the extra effort to list it as confidential- to me that screams “rare collector’s item” and even if someone isn’t sure why it’s so valuable they will probably chip in on the price. We’ll see- I think it’s fun to bet on the prices of things especially if I get close to it :p
December 29, 2006 at 7:02 pm #520604Cheryl, if I were you I would remove that post and ask Mimi to do the same… You’ve just told everyone here, friendly or not, how much they need to bid to outbid you by just $1.00.

Those are good points! This griffin certainly has gotten the most pre-auction discussion… 🙂

Nah, things can change in an instant Little- in 6 days I may decide I can put off a bill until mid-month to buy this piece. Always subject to change- besides, it could be a decoy 😈 Ya just never know- I’m CRAZY like that :p

December 29, 2006 at 7:27 pm #520609I really like the royal Ki-Rin, I wonder is Nam will be painting other PYOs besides griffins soon?

December 29, 2006 at 7:35 pm #520611Well I can see the bad and good points for it being private.
Bad:
We can’t see who is bidding and who wins it.
It is too bad that it has to come to this without it being so serious or things taken wrong.Good:
We can’t see who is bidding and who wins it, but Windstone will get more money MAYBE.

It is too bad that it has to come to this without it being so serious or things taken wrong.THANK YOU for being the one to say that!! I completely agree, it’s something that months ago was playful and fun- then got taken to seriously. And the topic that got deleted wasn’t even so much about ‘dibs’ or not on the griffin as it was about the green coiled mother!
December 29, 2006 at 7:43 pm #520613400 bucks and more for a 30 buck sculpt? Yeah, it’s pretty, but that’s more than the big griffin males went for.
Dang American keyboards. I can-t tape on these things.
Anyway, that bid seems somewhat extreme to me. Even if I couldn-t do PYOs myself and bought them, I-d never pay that much. But all the better for Nam. Go Nam ❗December 29, 2006 at 7:44 pm #520614Well if I don’t win I guarantee I’ll keep the pictures and someday try to paint it on my own.
But I would like to thank you GB for putting it in perspective- that was awesome! 😀
December 29, 2006 at 7:45 pm #520615Well to me I was just having fun and then someone took it wrong and too serious and probably complained. I just state my opinions and I know everyone has their own. This is the place that I come to to express myself because I don’t have that many people to express them to. Even if I just say something and no one responds, it makes me feel better to get things off my mind.
