Heck, my first two PYO griffins intimidated me, too! Don’t feel bad. 🙂

I sat at stared at the first 5 or 6 PYOs for literally hours before I started on them, too scared to pick up the brush! 🙂 But you’ll never get to see the pretty griffin or kirin or dragon that you can make until you’re brave enough to risk “ruining” it – and it’s not all that bad, really – in the worst case scenario, all you have to do is paint over it. All you’ve lost is the time, and that’s not really lost because you spent it learning and getting better!
😉 You should definitely try and paint a few. And even if you get a little discouraged, KEEP TRYING! It’s so worth it!

Thanks for the encouragement, guys! Painting the PYO’s does seem like it can be a lot of fun.
Ha, I can just see my first PYO…covered in so many coats of paint that he’s almost unrecognizable… 😆
December 30, 2006 at 10:15 pm #520768I can see the same thing about my first one. I’m usually very good with colors but I’d like to watch someone and see some techniques first

I felt the same way! LOL I still get that way with simple things like blank canvases sometimes! LOL
December 31, 2006 at 3:42 am #520770Someone has to buy PYOs from those of you who paint them….that’s what us non-artistics types do best…we oooh and aaah…that’s our job… 😀

Oh my! At least two people want it really bad… I think its safe to say Jen will be getting a little Christmas bonus. I wonder if it would have gone this high without all the hubbub before the auction. This griffin is infamous.
December 31, 2006 at 5:12 pm #520774Holy cow!! My ‘bonus’ won’t be that much, but how flattering nonetheless!! I don’t know if the bidders are anyone here, but if so, I’m very honored! I hope it pleases whomever wins it as much in person as it does in photos!

My art: featherdust.comDecember 31, 2006 at 5:17 pm #520775It is the best one you have done so far, in my opinion, but that someone has $500 to spare right after Christmas is a wonder!! Unless its Christmas money… Then someone is just getting their Christmas present!

If that’s the case, then this is a good example of unexpected benefits coming about!
At any rate, I’m really glad that Nam’s griffin is doing so well. And it makes me feel like I got a bargain! 😆
December 31, 2006 at 8:30 pm #520777It’s beautiful, it’s gorgeous, I adore it, but that is just too rich for my blood so one of those two who have that kind of money is NOT ever going to be me. Good luck Jennifer- I’m glad you get paid 😀
