Mimi if you get brave and paint a PYO, let me know how it turns out….guess I’m the hold out….I have no plans to even try….I am not the least bit artistic… 😆

Were you on last night – my time – when the record was set of 31 users? If not, anyway, that’s why this thread exploded.

    #520753

It would be fun to see who the 31 users were…I know I was on at some point, but I’m not sure if it was at that exact moment…

I know I was one of them, and Ski was one of them, and… That’s all I can remember. But quite a few of them were guests, if I remember right.

There were about 15 names on the bottom. Cheryl, Frozen, Whippet, Mimi, Me, you, Copper, I think, Dragonsjade, Silver, I believe… and a few others… It was fun!!

I logged on and got to check every once in a while but was in training most of the night. Maybe I was counted since I was at least logged on most of the night

But wait — Cheryl and Nirvana are trying to get us sucked into World of Warcraft! If I get sucked into that there will never be any time… 😆

I would put the PYOs ahead of gaming, Mimi. On the PYOs you have a beautiful finished product at the end. Much more satisfying than some silly digital score that a hacker could just as soon give you in ten seconds as you could make it in ten hours.

I know what you’re saying…but for me it might turn out to be “hideous mess” instead of “beautiful finished product”… 😆 To be honest, intimidation factor is pretty high since I’ve never done this kind of thing before. I wish I could just jump into things like Ski…sigh…

Ha, I’m the same way. If I ever do try this I’ll definitely let you know how it goes!

It was…the posts were coming in faster than I could read them!

I had to go back on this topic about 6 times per page! I would answer something and then realize that it was talked about above, then I would see someone who had quoted something and I was like…”I dont remember reading that!” It was quite a night. It would have been perfect if something would have been put up last night. We would have been talking about it all night! Im glad they are waiting till the new year, though…I had to go to bed!

And I had to get back to working! I was trying to get to the point where I had read all the posts so I could log off (since the posts disappear when you log off) but it took me quite awhile, with all the new posts coming in.

I’m right there with you!! Maybe one day but I’m not holding my breath for that day to come

Holy Cow. Talk about having to catch up. hehe.

I do understand everyone’s opinions. I think being in the forum has given me more info, appreciation and understanding a artist’s time. As water put it, if you break it down then artist don’t get paid that much. On the flipside, I had the same idea as others….I thought $400 for a PYO was priced really high, but if you look at it is a OOAK and no one else will have it then it should go up in value and it is worth it in the long run.

exactly but you are still subject to what someone else will pay you for it

Mimi – just speaking from my own experience, being intimidated by the prospect of painting one of these beautiful sculptures is totally normal!! I sat at stared at the first 5 or 6 PYOs for literally hours before I started on them, too scared to pick up the brush! 🙂 But you’ll never get to see the pretty griffin or kirin or dragon that you can make until you’re brave enough to risk “ruining” it – and it’s not all that bad, really – in the worst case scenario, all you have to do is paint over it. All you’ve lost is the time, and that’s not really lost because you spent it learning and getting better!

😉 You should definitely try and paint a few. And even if you get a little discouraged, KEEP TRYING! It’s so worth it!
