oooh i think i’d like him! hmmmmmm. i’ve been trying to get him for a while, just to complete my original family. hmm what can i do you for? i don’t have anything broken and i only have one unpainted pyo. hmmmm…..gotta think of what i’d offer…
lol! thanks ddvm! 😉 hee hee. yeah, i have watched alot of other auctions go up up UP the last hour, especially the last 15 minutes.its so fun to watch all the snipe masters go at it on some hot pieces!!i’d check the bid list and so many would have happened in the last 15 seconds you’d think i missed a half hour!lol! alls fair on ebay though; if i was worried about not getting enough for him, i would have kept him. it all works either way; if it goes for low, it still gets you out there, you get good feedback and someone will see your stuff in person and hopefully want more.. its a good investment.i have sold pieces on there back in the day that i sculpted from scratch, slaving for a week or more to have it sell for $25.that hurt, but the peeps liked the stuff and came back for more so it worked out.
i wish he looked more true-to-life in the pics, but we all know these guys photograph funny anyway.this fella ends tonight, so if anyone is interested check him out! hes at a lowly $41.00 , so if you like him you could get a real deal! i spent a whole day alone just on the gold feather edging, darnit! his colors are much more vibrant in person as well, very royal. just thought i’d bump this up, since some peeps lose track of when auctions end, especially since this one was a 5 not 7 day listing. thanks!
lol, on the note of the scratcher, hes from the grandio sale i got last week, man i love the ruby, pics do him no justice, hes like a big ol piece of candy! yummas! must have more rubys and more scratchers! it an awesome piece really, you must have one! i’ll put on my orientals too, i just have the babies for now, i’m trying hard to get the others darnit!

hmm perhaps a happy medium is getting the ruby sun dragon.. hmmm, i’d love him emerald but ruby could suffice… for now.. hmm.[/img]oooh , now that sounds juicy!!! how cute would those little fledgling lion cubs be!!! awwwwwwww!
won! glad one came up for you, they are all stunning in peacock! i got lucky then; i got both an emerald and a peacock young mint in a shop for list price or so.. 65 each. i have to get the ruby to finish them off, since i keep losing the regular orientals- darnit!! you got a prize rusti with your peacock sun dragon- hoo wee! you next to never see those!
wow, how about all that huh? well that makes me feel better i think! 😀 thanks guys! i think thats so neat that the subtlely different paint finishes can reflect when they were painted!
i know with my gargoyles they have really different paint jobs, the new ones being very glossy with alot of warm brown, but the old ones are very matte and very “black and white” feeling. there is the nicest tiger cat down the street from me in a shop, super duper dark like someone rubbed him with charcoal and a dark nose instead of the ivoryish, blushing color. it is so awesome but the guy wantes 3o bucks for it plus tax. a little steep but it is gorgeous and so different! i might break down and get it though….awwwwwww glad you guys like! i had it soooooooooo set in my head that i had to do him in natural colors, from the yellow eyes. then i was like, you know, with the soft feathers, im going to have a miserable time doing the detailed banded feather thing.. why don’t i just do a tone gradate one and just see what happens…i’m still super new to these -the griffin is #6 for me- but i’m getting less intimidated/afraid of them. the rest of you must feel like they are all an old an old pair of shoes with how many you’ve done! what fun though, i can’t wait til then …i love that this has really been helping my painting skills, i normally didn’t put too much worry into my painting, i was casual, but this has been really educational! it helps to justify time spent on these instead of my own sculptures!
you could always mix the gold and silver or mix pearlescent white with gold to make a pale ,pale gold, or brush over the gold with pearl white…. think of the white curls and their softer pastel gold… that way the silver wouldn’t fade into the white or look too gray, and you’ll have a little bit of pop from the gold to contrast the purple…… hmmmmm….
hey there! i just put this fella up on ebay, for those of you who like purple, etc. hes a soft feathered griffin, my very first one i bought with metallic violet, purple, pinky-goldy-purple and gold. very flashy! see if you like him or what you think! i will have a matching dragon before toooo long- he’ll wear this color pattern even better. he’s very shimmery!

sorry the pics are all in a row, i’m not great at posting these yet!wow ski you did a great job, you have come such a long way! good for you! you must be thrilled!!
yes, i have some real variance in my regular unis too, some are real white and my newest, the grand, is real BEIGE, but it was clear it was the paint. is a tough call on the gothic of its discolored or not. it does fit him though, an antiqued tone for a medievaly uni.
well, i got a second gothic unicorn over the weekend and i was shocked when i opened the box! my old one was very ivory colored, (i got him off ebay a year ago with a broken hoof.) but never thought anything of it as i never had another to compare it to…. but he always looked ivory compared to my other regular unis… anyway i put him next to the one i just ordered and wow! the new one is beautiful white, like all the others! i’m not sure what is up with my original one.. did they paint them differently at one point or was my old one smoked on and cleaned really well? he had NO odor of smoke at all or tackiness but his felt has a little color to it, which could be smoke or just dirt n funk from a previous owner. couls he have yellowed in the sun? its consistent over the whole piece though. hmmmm.
anyway, i just thought i’d post it cuz i was shocked by the difference in person, though it may not show up super duper well in the pics, which are a little gray..i’d love to know what y’all think!
[img][/img]its not you emerald. my dad says purple is the one color that doesn’t like to show up in photos (unless its by itself). when we shot one of my dragons, it came out all blue when it was mainly purple… he thought the pic was fine til he looked at the dragon again and he was like “hey, where’d that PURPLE come from?! awwww geez!” lol. same goes with fabrics too that he’s shot, like antique textiles, the purple likes to go either blue or pink depending. its just a plain ol’ trouble making color; you gotta know how to work it, plus it really depends what other colors its with in the pic. pain in the butt 😛
SOLD to whippet unless something exceedingly crazy of the charts happens!
