that was something i was curious about… with the move coming up and all, if there were any loose plans for retiring any pieces, or a color scheme on the note of out with the old in with the new. that’s my paranoia kicking in- i don’t want miss out on any pieces i still need to get of things that have been out for a bit. 😳 i still need a bad cat candlelamp, a wolf sconce and a couple more pieces in black gold, in regards to things that have been out for a bit… πŸ™„
i guess the same applies for some of the limited production out of stocks in the store still- white risers and sitters, the browns, the griffins, etc. have slowly been selling out- which is good. but which may we see again and which are gone forever… not like you guys don’t have ENOUGH to do and worry about already! lol! i totally get that you may not want to keep putting stuff in there when i would guess you’d ideally move as little as possible up to oregon, plus, keeping all the painters busy with producing the new red fires, etc. for the physical stores, etc. etc….

wow! 😯 both of these are REALLY excellent!! you can really feel the love, time and care you put into these guys with your clean detail. you chose some pretty complex and unusual color schemes and pulled them both off beautifully! i can’t decide which one i like more. i love the copper tones on the dragon and how you antiqued it so perfectly, and yet the griffins’ neck feathers.. well..dear god! i have NO patience for the griffins, so that is just out of sight to me! great fur antiquing, fab clean colors, super everything!
thank you so much for posting these, they are really great and really refreshing to see paint jobs executed so well and in super a different style! πŸ˜€

sooooo, where’s the plotting committee assembling? πŸ˜†

yeah, i really wanted one too, but they are sold out now. the lap sculpt really wears the color so well! she’s a beauty! we’ll have to settle for now with the scratcher in brown, unless anyone is looking to sell their lap down the line… πŸ˜•

this fella coming out really neat! nice shading on the wings….. and the scales, particularly the ones on the forelegs and back legs, have a real great polished wood grain effect! they are really looking like wood/smooth bark! sweet! i can’t wait to see him done! πŸ™‚

I can’t wait to finally get home and get my paws on my own Keeper! All these painted ones are inspiring too look at, but they’re making me desperate to paint my own at the same time πŸ˜†

yeah these are alot of fun to paint. there are so many options for how to paint them, its a little maddening trying to decide! plus, its such a big piece i kept rediscovering all these little places and nooks that i almost forgot about. you just keep turning and manipulating the piece and finding more little places. also, at least with the paint scheme/colors i chose, it really varied how the paint job looked depending on the angle you viewed the piece from. particularly those edged scales. the paint would look perfect along the edge from most angles, then slightly off from one other, so i kept rechecking each edged scale from each angle to make sure it looked right. those darn things are everywhere! πŸ˜†
anyhoo, this piece IS alot of fun and i’m sure you’ll have a blast when u get to start yours! hopefully that won’t be too long from now!! πŸ™‚ i am itching to start another, but of course i can’t decide what to do. πŸ™„

eeep! it really looks pink!? 😯 there is actually no pink anywhere, its all real reds/maroony reds, but the gloss finish on the lighter reds make it shine pinkish on the high points like on the wingweb ( i think that’s where it looks pink). gah! i don’t want it looking pink. πŸ˜• darn cameras. hmm i did take additional close ups that i think helped to clarify any questionable areas, but boy it can be a bummer how some of these can be such a trick to photograph.

yay! i think i finally finished this guy! i had been itching since i saw this piece to dark themed piece with red, so here he is. geez did it take forever to go over all the details and edging on this piece! just like nam said, this piece has a ton of tricky intersection points that could just drive you batty in trying to get everything clean around them if you are using more than one color! >.< soooo many tricky little busy places!
anyhoo, this guy is based in black drybrushed over with maroon on the highpoints. there are two shades of red: blood red on the dorsal and neck scales, and a bright crimson on the side-of-the-body/tail scales. the other color is a purpley burgundy and the accenting is all done in a gunmetal silver, which looks much brighter in the pics than in real life- the light box totally lights it up like a tree! this piece overall is a bit darker in real life, all the red is true red or deep red (not pinky) and has a glossy finish, but i think the finish lit the piece up in the pics and made it look amazingly matte. this fella saucy glossy! go figure!
yeah, so i think its done, i’m gonna live with it and see if i want to change anything, but i think i’m pretty happy as i am without opening a major can of worms in additional edging or underlining. see what ya think.

i agree with that. i went back and looked at the pic too and i think you can see those rubs on the back claws in the pic. of course, not knowing they were there you would have never suspected that those areas were rubs, just highlights or whatever. i think at least some of those rubs were there prior to being shipped, as i have accidently banged my windstones together on occasion playing with them and they never got a mark or flake. thankfully you should be able to fix 92% of that up with the gold paint pen! πŸ˜€ that little thing is a miracle worker!! you’ll see!

big BUMP!!! so what happened with this fabulous dragon of yours? did you manage to sell him, or is he getting ebayed? this dragon is really fabulous ( i keep having to go back and look at him) and i was really curious as to his fate. i wish i had money to bid, but i’m po’! lol! anyhoo, my bottom line was that he is just really, REALLY beautiful and i truly hope you got or will get some big FAT money for him. both he and you don’t deserve to have him go for peanuts. i wonder how it would do on ebay, but ebay has been quite wonky in prices things have gone for lately πŸ˜• …..
