Some of the online places are allowing us to send in a Death certificate and copies of proof of who we are. It all needs to be sent certified mail, so one more thing on the list of “to do”. Others say that once we can log in with his passowrd they will allow us to make any changes we might need to on the account or to close the account.
The out of town credit unions, it is depending on what their company policy is. One is refusing to even talk to us until we are physically standing in front of them with an original Death Cert and the originals of proof of who we are. The other two are going to reluctantly allow us to mail the information into them.
His wife is on the physical, non internet accounts in most cases, but because he was the primary account holder they really dont want to work with her without all the proof. Mostly I think, because she let him do everything financially and so they have never seen nor actually dealt with her before.
I do know that this is stuff we all have to deal with, as I stated in my first post, I intended my post more as a plea to be sure people have left their information where someone they trust can find it. Doing that isnt going to save anyone from needing to deal with this someday but it may save your loved ones weeks or months of stress as they try to search out where everything is.

Lisa, we have already went to some of the local businesses but he has accounts in small hometown credit unions that are over 5 hours away. So its not easy to get to them and they refuse to talk to anyone unless we are there in person. And several of the online accounts aren’t willing to speak with us until we can find his passwords. So yes, there is a lot we can do by going to places of business, but with so much being online now a days, dealing with this stuff is not as “easy” one might hope it would be.
I do understand the buisnesses point of view with so much identity theft, but if we had any idea of where his account information is, this would have been just a bit less stressful on everyone involved.
Bodine I sure hope Uncle Donnie’s brother can get everything sorted out before much longer.

We are all still reeling from it and will be for a long time. He was a very kind and loving man that always did his best for everyone he met, not just his family.
My whine is more of a plea to everyone out there with loved ones. Please, please make sure that all your paperwork (insurance polices, bank accounts, wills and such) are all put into fireproof safe/box and to let at least 2 people know where it and the keys for it are loacted at.
My Father in Law did NOT do this. We have already spent over a week going thru 4 different buildings just to find the basic stuff and we still can’t locate several very important accounts, accounts that we know for a fact that he had.
This type of search on top of what is already a stressful situation is very difficult on those who are left behind. So please, if you haven’t put any thought into something like this, do so now. It will save your family so much extra stress at an already bad time.

I specially asked the seller if they were aware of how fragile Windstones were and if he knew the proper way to ship them. He stated that he did.
The scratcher arrived in a single box wrapped in a plastic grocery bag, no peanuts and the box fit so tightly that the scratchers horns had poked thru the box durning shipping and were lost in transit. His wings were broken off, his neck was broken and his entire head was what I am assuming the powdered sugar in the grocery bag was. I was hreartbroken. I contacted the seller, he requested that I return the scratcher and he gave me a full refund.
About a year later I found another that was at a much more reasonable price and the seller knew how to pack correctly. In the long run it all worked out for the best.
I do however contact anyone I buy Windstones from in eBay (unless I already know the seller and their packing procedures) with a message explaing the correct way to ship a Windstome.
Please don’t feel stupid though. Almost all of us have had the same thing happen at some point.

I was lucky and got all my top picks and they will be in their forever home once they arrive!

I try very hard to not add a bunch of apps to my phone and I refuse to even use Facebook, basically because I was worried about things like what has happened with FB recently and everyones information getting hijacked.
Is this possible with instagram? Do you end up getting a lot of spam type messages? Is it a chat app or just for photos?
