So, so, so, so excited for the oriental still (though I get wanting to make the horn placement easier, but I can hardly wait!) I am definitely looking forward to the hippocampus too, though, it is flipping adorable!
About 40 miles is the furthest I’ve gone. (That’s how far I live from the Windstone factory. I know, I’m very lucky!)
Fledglings.
My collection is more than 20 fledglings, (I need to actually count them, but they’re all boxed up just now. 25? Something like that. I have them all, except the new shell pink.) then one baby dragon test paint, a pair of dragon bookends, a claw candleholder, and my new secret keeper. That’s it! So… yeah. Nearly entirely fledglings. Oh, and some PYOs, of course, though I’m trying to sell most of the painted ones.
I tend to mostly finish mine in a rush after starting. I do have one that’s half done, but I suspect it’ll get completely painted over, as I stopped because I didn’t like how it was coming out.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I’m definitely in. I will find the time somehow. Thankfully the deadline is late enough we’ll be all moved into the new place by then.
Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. 😀
The factory visit was successful, and as it was a stop on a longer trip up to Seattle, my new Windstone had a bit of an adventure.
I had to unpack her and stare at her as soon as possible, of course, so she spent a few days sitting on a friend’s endtable. Said friend was very jealous, and said she’d keep her if I left her behind! But she got packed up and came back with us last night. Now she is still in her box because we’re actually just starting a move, and she is a huge pain to pack and unpack, so she’ll be staying boxed up for the next couple of weeks while we move everything over. Then she can take her place as the centerpiece of my collection in the new house.
(I just have to figure out how the flip to childproof the display cabinets, given there’s going to also be a new baby in said house soon…)
Well, if we are, I’m in. (Depending a bit on deadlines, we’re moving this month, but it should still be workable for me.)
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I am so excited! 😀
Ah. Neat! When I see “enamels” I’m usually seeing people talking about these:
Proper stained glass does use glass that’s inherently colored, but the paints have been a thing for a while.
Hey, I know that person! Before I got an embroidery machine, she did all my patches for plush eyes and such. She still gives me advice and helps me with embroidery files and such. She’s awesome.
Well “enamel” paints and the kind you bake aren’t going to be the same thing. I haven’t used enamels much so I am hardly an expert, but they are two different kinds of paint. You might have good luck with something like stained glass paint that’s meant to go on glass? I’ve seen that at Michaels before!
If there are, I haven’t tripped over any, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
Painting your own is fun! I had to do that for the glow foos, since I wanted glow in the dark eyes. Though be aware, they’re not 100% archival, since it’s possible for the paint to peel away from the glass in the long term. We’re talking years, though, and even then it’s not likely unless you’re in a humid environment or have something else go wrong, but the actual tohickon eyes are baked on enamel, which is more permanent than paint could be.
Any of you guys see this on Deviantart?
I know everybody else wants grab bags, but I want more PYOs! The hippocampus is looking amazing, and I see the oriental dragon that I have been drooling over for months in the background there. I hope they get finished soon! (Although Melody is scaring me bay saying the oriental might not be a PYO. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed a PYO oriental dragon in my life!)
