The oil spot fledgling has an error in his description. First line of it says he’s “fire berry.”

I missed out on a lot of GB stuff, so I know that I’ve mentioned I’d love nothing more than to see more baby kirin or mini-keeper GBs (though it was pointed out to me that the scales are a pain in the butt to paint so it’s less likely to see them as often as other GBs).

That said, I’m with Hannah on the no-unis GB (preparing to dodge projectile debris…). There have been a lot of them! (No doubt because of the smoother sculpt and ease to paint.)

If scalies are out of the picture for now, it might behoove us (oh ho ho! so punny!) to do a pegasus GB? I don’t know if such a thing has ever been in contention but I imagine baby pegasi or even hatching babies could be something people would be interested in. Personally, I think a hatchery GB would be fun, even if it takes a little more time to do…just think of how the eggshells could be varied!

Who wants to bet it was an orange-eyed emerald mother, eh?

Orange-eyed emeralds seem to have the worst luck!

Thanks Etruscan, yes, I noticed, hope some loser isn’t just raising the bid cost for kicks. Course if they are what goes around comes around figure.

What a tasteless and classless thing to say. Congrats on your win. If I hadn’t had travel and car insurance I would have put around $375 on him as that seems about his worth to me. He’s a gorgeous piece and I would have loved to have him.

I don’t usually engage with people who are obviously trying to stir things up, but name-calling and veiled threats are not appropriate behavior for this or any forum.

I don’t really think that’s what Werepanther is doing. It sounds just like a somewhat miffed rant (personally I don’t think there’s much cause for it, either, as I think that getting that gorgeous griffin for the price she did is quite a steal) .

Also I wouldn’t have put it into terms like tasteless and classless; but, if this were an actual complaint, it would certainly be presumptuous. One never knows what’s going on in another person’s mind let alone their methods and strategies for bidding (there _are_ people that are juvenile and will ante up just to cause trouble but people like that are few and far between).

That said, I do agree with that there is a time and place for speculative rants and that such things are best left out of forums, with exception to specific boards or topics which are specifically meant for those topics (like our lovely “whine is served” board). Obviously, threats and slander shouldn’t be tolerated, either; however, as I said, I don’t see that at all in Werepanther’s post.

I don’t know what kind of camera you use, but if it’s possible, you might try manually adjusting the focus (or if you have any nearby friends/family members whom have a good camera, schedule a drop-by shoot).

You also might want to try flipping the button upside down so that the heads of the beasties are pointed toward the countertop _then_ take pictures, if only to try and get a better image of the lettering/flag details down there. Natural shadows alone would make it harder to read clearly in a picture without something akin to a ‘professional’ setup or studio lighting.

Looks like this poor green mother met up with a can of silver spray paint.

    I don’t even…

    What…

    …….

Even if I had no clue what Windstones were, the eyes are so cloudy I’d be suspicious…

    Pitt & Co.

They were a London-based button company beginning in 1875. In 1895 they moved to Maddox Street. (So I assume the back reads Pitt & Co. down one side of the back, and Maddox on the opposite 180 that we can’t see in the picture.)

In 1973 they were bought by J R Gaunt of London just before Gaunt was taken over by the Birmingham Mint.

That’s all I could find in a quick 5 minute search, but it’s a place to start.

    OOOoooOOOOoooOOOooo!

    Thanks etruscan!

This looks like it was fun! I’d have to think of something super creative if they did this again. Hrmm…

No I wouldn’t be rich, I’d just be homeless on the street! LOL I might become homeless to own a Secret Keeper…wouldn’t that be worth it? πŸ˜›

Absolutely. I can picture it now:

You, curled possessively around your secret keeper, resting in the cave you discovered in which to sleep, gently stroking the statue’s head, muttering to yourself “My preciousssss…”

Its colours remind me of the Rainbow Road in Mario Kart. πŸ˜€

    Lol!! … which one? xD

    Mainly ’64! πŸ˜€

That takes me back a few years! XD
My college buds refused to play that map at all if I was rotated into the lineup, as I was a champion cliffjumper (a.k.a. the not-so-secret shortcut that wastes a ton of time if you flop the landing and fall into the black beyond). πŸ™

    It’s a learned skill, not a hack! >_<

I thought I loved black with anything (black and green, black and red, black and blue, black and gold, etc.) but I’m not thrilled by Black Rainbow. πŸ™

I do agree with you on this, etruscan. I do love how the colors on the black rainbow phase into each other; however, because there is a literal rainbow of colors, I feel you don’t get as much room to show gradients and phasing. It’s still pretty, but the pieces with fewer colors look prettier to me.

in reply to: Safari and Fantasy Tadpoad Show Off Thread #936393

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a few tadpoads. I may not be crazy about poads, but I do like the gamble of a grab bag, and the tadpoads are at least easy to fit into a display case.

So here are my new babies!

I’ve no idea specifically what the first one is…possibly some kind of smaller rodent/ground mammal or a bird of some sort. She’s up for trade, as she’s not to my style.

I like the fantasy tadpoad but I was hoping for one that was blue/purple, or lavendar/violet color combos. I’m not unhappy with it, though. I’ll be open to considering trades for her.

I was incredibly happy to see the tiger! At first I thought it was a zebra when I first looked at her–I was looking at her belly and it’s all white and black–but boy was I quite surprised when I turned her over! I’ll be keeping her (personally I think out of all the tigers I’ve seen so far, I like her best, especially the black dot in the center of her forehead…makes me think of a bindi or a third eye), unless an offer I just can’t refuse comes along.

    in reply to: October? #936236

Lol! What an awesome way to ask.

Not that i can answer the actual question, but it made me laugh.

Which i really needed. So thanks a lot for that bit of fun creativity! πŸ™‚

You’re welcome! I love making people crack a grin. πŸ˜€

in reply to: RIP Ashley (the cat) #936200

    My condolences. πŸ™
It’s certainly never easy to lose a loved one, whether it’s a furkid or a person, moreso when the buggers have such short lifespans compared to the average person. Just be sure to cherish the memories, and be happy she held on just for you.

When I lost my two cats, I ended up making a journal and wrote down all the things I could remember about them. Silly moments, funny stories…the kinds of things you don’t want to forget. Even now I still add to it when I remember tidbits from time to time. It certainly helped ease the pain of their passing and now I have a permanent reminder (as if I could forget) of so many times they brought joy to my bleary days.
