Apparently the river in Cairo has already dropped a whole foot. Down to 60 feet from 61. I wish so badly that no one had to lose anything, but looks like this is going to work as expected and bring at least a little relief to the system as it was designed.

I work in Carbondale at the newspaper! 😉

Come see me sometime, I get bored.

Depraved so far is my favorite. I think I’m going to have to order a 5ml bottle of it.

I gave away most of my last little 1ml samples (or imps, for the initiated) at work because I didn’t appreciate them that much. I still have an imp of New Orleans that I need to get rid of, if someone wanted to swap me.

Well, I’m amused at any rate, since I live just over the bridge from Cape. We drive over there to do some shopping.

Yeah, Cairo is in serious danger. If that floodwall breaks, the whole town will be swept away. And I can just about guarantee that it wouldn’t recover from that.

I’ve got a great uncle who lives in Cairo too who won’t leave because he’s afraid the looters will carry off his house. And he’s probably right.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did let Cairo flood, unfortunately. What a mess.

I live in Southern Illinois and I’m running out of options to get out of my county and get to work 40 miles away in Carbondale.

This is the tiny gallery of pictures I stopped to take on the way home today, complete with caption descriptions.

Tomorrow I’ll probably have to take a different road! (And there is a (voluntary, still) evacuation order for Cairo. The Ohio is licking at the top of the floodwall down there.

I’m usually pretty easy to please. I think Mario Brothers is as much of a given as Okamiden was, but I still have 8 pounds to go to the next game. I like Legend of Zelda for the Wii too, so if there’s something for DS in that vein, I might pick it up.

Tell me, what’s so great about the Pokemon games?

Hope this shoes up this time. I’m going to be really embarrassed if all four attempts all of a sudden pop up.

I just tried to post a new thread in the Community forum and got this error and as far as I can tell, the thread hasn’t posted…

I tried twice, and I don’t see it showing up anywhere.

You paid the $130 for him to play track. If it were my mother dealing with me, I would either be paying her back the $130 or finishing the season, my choice, but I would most definitely not be getting off scott free.

I think it’s a good opportunity to remind/teach him what commitment is. Any kid of mine would finish the season. He wouldn’t have to continue on next year, but he’d definitely finish what he started.

Yeah, I thought about hitting up the Golden Needle over there, but it was one of the ladies there that gave me the jeans needles that don’t fit mom’s machine. They’re nice folks, but I am currently unimpressed.
