  • I won’t even deal with sellers using Ebay’s Global Shipping Program.

Guess I’m going to be following your example as well!

The first photo I posted is when I first opened it, before I even touched anything.

It’s awful, you can see they didn’t even tape the inner box back up, or bother wrapping the dragon fully – or put the bubble wrap all the way back around the inner box!! This is SO BAD for a courier, let alone one endorsed by eBay.

I’m just… gahhh. It’s not really a “replaceable” item on top of everything even though it’s a production colour. It’s the orange-eyed male which is hard to find. I was excited to find him, and hoping to someday get the female to match.

Aww, I love it! I would definitely be interested.

If it’s really old though, they may no longer have the mold.

Having seen the Emperor, I am in LOVE. 🙂 Perfect eye choice!

Thank you everyone for your input.I was just curious. I just stained[added a little gold interference in places] the bright white one,she had arrived damaged and I didn’t have color matches. When I did,I saw something I hadn’t noticed when it was white. The finish is crackled. When I stained it they popped out but I still like it.

Maybe that’s it then, something to do with the finish not holding together perfectly? If you remember it being just as white as the new one anyway. I’ve seen this on a white lap before on this forum, but I don’t remember if the colour was off or not.

Edit: I just realized I misread and the newer one is the crackled one. :p Could still be the finish… or temperature changes maybe?

in reply to: Albino Colour Schemes – Red Eyes Vs. Blue Eyes #934036

I tend to regard them as two separate colours almost. The blue-eyed ones are white and the pink-eyed ones are albino!

I really love those “Snow” test paints, they are gorgeous.

My entry was received last week, right?

I sent mine in yesterday as well. It’s no hurry or anything! I just want it on record that I sent it just in case I messed up the address or something. :p

Whew! I almost forgot to send in my entry!

I love the blending on this PYO’s feathers, and the stripes on the face and the legs came out so clear and thick! I’m really curious how you managed it? I tried making purple tiger stripes (it’s a fantasy tiger look) on one of my PYOs but they look a little on the transparent side in a few spots.

    Thank you!

I used diluted paint for the stripes on his legs… I had it mixed with airbrush medium, but did not end up airbrushing them on obviously :p I just can’t stand to waste paint, so I had the mix saved from sometime before. To make sure it was dark, I waited till it was dry, and then carefully went over all the stripes a second time. The second time was kind of stressful, lol!

The thickness was easier on the face, since I didn’t dilute the paint. It took a very steady hand (well, as much as I could), a fine brush, and a ton of little touch-ups afterward!

:O NICE JOB!!! He caught my eye real quick on Ebay and he is VERY well done!!

Thanks! I figure if I sell this one, I can afford to buy another one to paint 🙂 Buying all the stuff to START painting ended up being more expensive than I’d anticipated, but at least now I have a basic setup.

Wow, that is stunning! I love the colors. And the antiquing. And the cleanness of the stripes. So much work must have gone into it!

Ahh thank you, it was my first time antiquing anything, so learning by doing was slightly terrifying! I still don’t have the hang of it. But at least I didn’t ruin anything yet 😉

in reply to: Tiger Macaw griffon – My first PYO! #933469

Oh wow! Great work!! The stripes are nice and crisp….i love it!!

Thanks for saying so.. the face took forever, haha 🙂 I may have picked an overly complicated first colour scheme.

Thanks so much! The encouragement means a lot to me. I enjoyed it a lot, though it was frustrating at times. :p

I want to start on another one right away! I’m kind of broke, but my hobbies always tend to fund themselves in some respect, so maybe I can sell something to make the extra. The nice thing about PYOs is their low price!

Ooo, colorful! Me likey. Very nice job! I especially like that delicate aqua green along the top of the head.

The shade of green was actually kind of a happy accident. I had originally meant to do a more primary green to match with the other colours, but during mixing I found this shade and just went with it 🙂

in reply to: Clear coats? Help! #933319

Update: I’m impatient and despite like a billion google results, I still felt unclear about how interchangeable some things are, and what things are the same as other things but with different names… So I just tested some medium/varnish combinations on my own, then went ahead and did my statue. Fingers crossed!

    Wonderful, thank you!

This leads me to another question: I have Liquitex Satin Varnish that I picked up last night.

It says “do not thin with water,” but… don’t I have to thin it to make it work via airbrush? (The matt coating was easy because it came in a spray bottle lol, this one does not)

I have Golden brand airbrush medium, but I don’t know if that’s the right thing to use here.
