  • Oh yeah, here are my little carpetsharks, Fritter (7 years, left) and Moxie (3, right), with my lovely sister somehow managing to hold them still for a moment.

I have lots of photos of them, but they rarely sit still long enough to capture them together. 😛

I had a male once, too, but he died at age 2 of extremely early onset lymphoma. The little guy was an angel. <3

Thank you so much for all the kind words and thoughts. I’ve been worried and stressed all week, keeping me up and whatnot.

The ferret I put down on Friday was of unknown age. My 7-8 is still with me 🙂

I’m so sorry to hear that. 4 Years of good care though! It makes me so glad to hear of successful rescue stories.

My eldest was born early 2009 sometime. She was my little heartlifter during those long days/nights at college when I’d return at 3 am, tired and missing my boyfriend (now husband, happily) because school kept me from having ANY social life… She’s also the only ferret I’ve had who always loved to cuddle with people, not just when they grew older and calmed down a little. She used to cry when I’d cage her for the night, so I started bringing her to bed with me, too.

Predictably, from that point on the bed was “hers” and all sorts of toys showed up under my covers all the time, lol. When I bought her a playmate, she made sure he knew that he was NOT ALLOWED in that bed!

Sorry, I got lost in thought there <3

Anyway, good(ish?) news from the vet this weekend!

The x-rays look the same, but he could not find the mass with his fingers anymore. (And if you know ferrets, you know they are basically made of Jell-o, so he really should have felt it if it were still there.)

He thinks her intestinal walls are thickened, though… Which could mean a lot of things, or nothing.

Basically, since she seems active has a good appetite, we're just supposed to keep giving her protein supplemental food and keep an eye on her for now.

She really is responding well to all the extra "treats," which she loves. She is still stumbling and occasionally falling due to her back leg weakness, but still, I haven't seen her run towards anything this quickly in months! Hopefully the extra protein will help her rebuild that those leg muscles.

I love those green and brown Kirins, they are gorgeous!

That’s the worst part, you know? Without knowing what the mass is, I feel like I can’t make an educated decision about surgery vs. Just letting her live happily for as long as she can…

Ela, I would love your friend’s contact info. Just warn them about me so it’s not weird getting a message from a stranger out of the blue 🙂 lol

Congrats! A lucky leap year 🙂

It’s so hard to read things like this, I know how hard it can be to pay for medical care without the insurance coverage. And for children no less 🙁 Poor dear.

The site seems to be working for me by the way if that helps any.

Congrats on retirement 🙂 And good luck with your business! I did dog and cat boarding for a few months when I needed money after college – You meet some really nice people (and animals!)

I’m so sad I missed these! Maybe I’ll get lucky and someone who isn’t quite in love with theirs will turn to the classifieds 🙂

    Hahaha!!! Store credit!!!!

Sorry you’re not feeling well…maybe you could upgrade to version 10.1? 😉

I’ve often felt like if I could just trade in my skull, maybe my brain wouldn’t be in such pain all the time! :p

Oh, and I’m currently unable to sleep and buried under a mountain of tissues now. Definitely a cold/flu at this point.

I’m used to migraines, but I don’t get sick very often. A simple little cold and I’m such a mess.

I have suffered from migraines from the time I was 2 years old. Bad enough that as a child I was taken to the ER to get morphine for them and even that never helped, so that so called fix wasn’t tried more than a few time. I lived most of my life with them (they started when I was 2 years old my mom says and I’m 44 now) until about 7 years ago. I finally decided to try acupuncture. I figured what the hell I have tried everything else and nothing ever helped.
I went once a week for about 2 months and within the first 3 weeks my migraines went from 3 weeks a month down to one or two days a week.
Then it was reduced to going once every 2 weeks. By this time when I did get a migraine it was at least one I could mostly kinda ignore.
I then dropped to going for treatment to once a month for 6 months. Since then I haven’t been back and I get maybe 4 migraines a year. And they are very rarely so bad that I can’t see anymore.
I don’t know if this will help you. But it might be worth a shot if you haven’t already tried it.
    Either way,get better soon! Hugs

I’m so sorry to hear that. I am very glad that you’ve had notable improvement though!

My migraines didn’t kick in til I was about… 13? 14? Whenever it was I first started getting my period. I didn’t understand and I thought they were just really bad headaches. Now I know that headaches aren’t usually accompanied by the trembling weakness, photophobia and host of other issues!

I have a whole list of things I’m going to try now that we finally have benefits (literally just got them this past couple weeks.) Massage, chiropractics and acupuncture are all on the list 🙂 I’m tentatively excited. I don’t really remember what it was like to just… not always be in pain, you know? That’s without hyperbole; I’ve learned to tune out the lowest levels but it’s always there.

I thought I was getting sick – killer sore throat all of yesterday, and persisting. Scratching, and coughing, and generally just being raw and sore. I had forgotten how miserable such a simple little ailment like sort throat can make you!

But tonight, I’m up because I’m somewhat nauseous, enough to keep me awake at any rate. Not really a symptom of strep or a cold that I’m aware of.

I’m starting to highly suspect acid reflux 🙁 I had a lot of issues with that and heartburn while on Zoloft. But my medication has not recently changed, and I haven’t eaten anything spicy in the past days. So I have no idea what caused it!

Anyway, I’m wide awake at 3 AM. I’m feeling pretty mopey about it.

I have chronic migraines so at times it feels like I’m always sick. 🙁 I have to plan every event around the very likely possibility of my headaches worsening to the point of not being able to ignore. So when I get SICK on top of that, I get so fed up with my body!

Why can’t my parts just work the way they are intended? Can I return them for an exchange or a store credit??

    WHINE!

The noise I made when I saw this should not come out of an adult human!

Chickadees are my favourite birds 🙂 I love it. Congrats on such a lovely purchase (commission?).

in reply to: Demeanor of Posts and Other Bad Intentions #942202

This sort of thing happens occasionally in literally any type of selling group I’ve ever been a part of. I think it is human nature to want to reach out to others when one is feeling upset. But when all’s said and done, I think most people generally agree that posting about other community members tends to stir the pot more than ever really fix anything.

So I guess what I’m saying is that hosting any sort of public forum is always going to have its drama-related bumps in the road – and these may happen more as a community continues to grow. But I don’t think it is indicative of a larger problem. We have good moderators and good people. These things can and will happen, but they always pass.

I’m not sure about a “strike” situation as whether or not it was “earned” can always be in debate… I have seen temporary bans work well on other forums (or otherwise temporarily restricted posting). It sounds very severe, but realistically it’s usually just a day or two to help the participating parties calm down. And even then, only if they persist after moderator requests to stop.

Not suggesting it in this situation per se, as it seems to be mostly over. <3 Just a thought for the future.

I got 96 emails about the kirins but I’ll be sitting this one out again…..

lol! I got about 10 I think? At least this way if I miss new stuff, it’s my fault. :p

Sitting this one out as well. Still, can’t wait to see what these guys look like!
