“Silver Birch Autumn” looks good. I especially like his flanks. Congrats!

D: I was in a hurry when I sent mine (my ride to the post office gave me NO warning that we were going and gave me absolutely no time to even write a nice little note, it was horrible) so mine doesn’t even have a ‘please love me’ note with it! XD It should arrive at its destination on Saturday but its new owner probably won’t get it until Monday I guess. (Darn!) I have tracking though, so I’m stalking it every step of the way. (Or at least stalking it as much as I can!)

Oh, my sympathies! That lack of warning would have annoyed me. Will your recipient have any way of knowing who painted for them? You signed the felt pad I’m sure, so that should help.

It’s good to hear all the positive comments on USPS. It is reassuring. I’ve usually had good luck with receiving packages and such from them…but I’ve never had cause to SEND a package anywhere. -laughs- And it was worrisome to think I might have made a wrong choice for my first swap. But I’m not worried anymore. Just looking forward to all the arrivals and hoping my recipient likes what I did for them.

              ‘Queen Ghidorah’

This is the 5 Headed Dragon incense burner that I decided to repaint. Because of all her nooks/crannies, she was a challenge. I chose the name Queen Ghidorah because her color scheme was inspired by King Ghidorah. In the future I will try to stick to Windstone PYOs for this thread. Besides, Windstone PYOs are smoother and in general more fun to work with. Despite all this, I do like how she turned out. I decided not to put different markings on each of her heads. Because the heads are so deeply textured I didn’t think they would work or look good. Though I am disappointed not to have been able to add them.

lol, I promise she doesn’t look quite as ‘flat’ in person.

                I LOVE Peacock Pride’s Eyes!
What is the eyes’ color/finish/type called, do they come in other colors, and where did you order them from? DreamingTreeStudio.com perhaps? 🙂

He is quite gorgeous and I totally agree about the eyes. They’re amazing and fit with his color scheme beautifully.

I sent mine out yesterday afternoon! Gosh, I hope I didn’t pick the wrong kind of shipping! I used USPS and paid about $16….. But I double boxed and used quite a bit of bubble wrap and peanuts and I did make sure to insure the package so…. I hope I didn’t faux pas. I’m freaking out now. ^_^; They said the package should arrive around Friday (though with it being a holiday I don’t know how that’s going to work).

Everyone should have received an email 🙂

Please ship sometime between, like, right now and next Monday. (My teleporter’s down… so I can’t ship right now 🙁 )

Please, please, puleeze post a note in the thread I’ll start as soon as you receive your swap. There’s tracking and people tend to panic if the tracking says “Delivered”, but the person doesn’t post about it.

If you can, post pics. Show off the new member of the family! If your dog (or cat or ferret) ate (or hid) your camera, do say so and the artist will post and show off for you.

                    So let the anticipation begin!

Please send me an e-mail with the address I’m supposed to send to. I don’t want my recipient to miss out on the fun.

I didn’t get an e-mail at all. I was hoping to ship this morning and now I won’t be able to.

Eee! Getting down to the wire and the excitement is ramping up. Deep breaths, deep breaths. I’ll be sad to see mine go too…hopefully the person I painted for likes what I did. I’m terrified I went too simple. -crosses fingers-

Ohhh man another embarrassing silent streak XD After finishing a project this month nearly a year and a half since I started I now have the space and time to get back to my PYO’s.

Mr Keeper #1 is just drying from his first varnish run getting ready to antique. I added some Bright Yellow Pearl EX to his highlights and finally got him to pop. I couldn’t help but pounce on my new Foo mom as soon as she arrived, leaving the oriole phoenix who’s as old as the Keeper to sit on the side.

I still have THIRTEEN blank PYO’s sitting under my desk from 3 years ago. I can’t tell you how eager I am to be knee deep in the game already, but I might have a costume I need to get done for February @_@ It’s not easy working in the winter either not being in my mom’s studio anymore. I use one of my giant photography fluorescent bulbs with umbrella for adequate lighting when the sun hides away. Hopefully extended use time wont burn it out fast.

I am thinking about opening commissions once I get a griffin done after these guys, though I realize shipping has doubled since I last remember. Now that I see there is a lovely selection of glass eye suppliers I’m thinking of offering some of what I have already for cheaper supply cost and just getting the required eye/jewel color.

I have: 3 phoenixes, 1 keeper, 2 unicorns, 2 dragons, and maybe a wolf or two. I wont do previous color schemes I’ve done for this batch, but you can squeak for one on a PYO sculpt yet to wear it.
Keep your eyes peeled in the new year for my post in the Commission Rates thread!
I also have a facebook page for updates if that’s easier for you: https://www.facebook.com/echoeslight

Sorry for the huge absence guys! You’re always welcome to punt me a PM if you have a question or wonder if I’m still alive- I get email notifications.

Ooo…. I love that dragon! Amazing set of colors and arrangement. But hey, I absolutely love vibrant colors when they harmonize. So I have to say the phoenix’s colors are quite nice too.

But I’m really looking forward to seeing the Momma Foo when she’s completely finished. Are you planning on keeping her so white? If so, that’s a really striking color combination. I don’t know, there is just something about an animal with white fur with black lips that really…I dunno, stands out to me. Is that weird?

What a nice first go! I like the effect of the red showing up between the black scales. That’s something I definitely want to try for myself some time in the future.

I think this is an excellent question. In my limited experience, white glue is great for eyes and small gems. With the larger gems, I have trouble getting the gems to stick with white glue…so I used super glue.

White glue is nice because it cleans up easy, dries fairly clear and if you decide you want different eyes/gems in your piece it supposedly doesn’t damage the sculpt if you remove them properly.

Super glue has better hold BUT if it squeezes out from behind the gem/eye, can dry with a white, crusty appearance (depending on the super glue). And if it gets on the gem itself will give it a foggy appearance. Yuck! So be careful if you use it. I’m wondering if the super glue made expressly for use on glass would be a good choice. It dries beautifully clear when I’ve used it in the past. However, I’ve never used it for a PYO Windstone.

King Ghidorah looks like it might be a good choice.
Another idea would be to maybe have a main color for the body and pick close analogous colors for the heads, to give each head a personality of it’s own.

Good Luck… can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Oh! Instead of different analogous colors…perhaps same color heads but different facial markings! XD Thanks!
