All I know is that it’s a factory error on the emerald paint job- early on some pieces were put out that were a darker, more bluish green than the standard emerald. Not many made it to the stores, and not many pop up. They don’t seem to be in all the sculpts, but since it’s an error and not something the factory kept track of, nobody knows for sure exactly which poses it may have been produced on. It seems to be most common on the regular Orientals, but there are male coils and scratchers also, and others I don’t remember… there was a post on it recently, I’ll see if I can find it. It had photos comparing it and emerald.
EDIT: I haven’t found the jade thread, but Rusti has a lovely collection of Orientals, with emerald and jade in both regular and young. You can easily see the difference here.

Also what limited edition old warriors will be on ebay next since the ivep ow’s are gone?
The next lp Warriors will probably be old green, If I have enough paint. Or rainbow, if we haven’t made those yet.
OMG MELODY I LOVE YOU! *BIG HUGE HUGS*
Sorry to holler, but you about made me fall out of the chair with that one… my dream dragon *drool*
of the ones not produced in that color. It doesn’t even have to be next ,just that it may/should come to be… that would let me save a little more money lol.
Don’t remember seeing a rainbow, except isn’t there one in the factory?
WindstoneCollector, I think you and I are loudest, but I think a few others are old green fans also. Maybe DragonMaster and DantheDragon? I forget. 🙄
I don’t get the feeling, from what’s been said, that it’s an either/or with the OW and the curlie in green? Melody has said recently that there would be green curlies, and now she mentions the OW. Maybe there’s enough paint for small quantites of each.
*oh, I’m so happy! Worried because I’m broke now, but so excited*
There are a couple jade Orientals up also, from the looks of the photos?
OLD GREEN! 😈
It’s nice to dream, isn’t it? 😛 Even if it is impossible.
Maybe if I keep squeaking…Melody wrote:pipsxlch wrote:So, is it a surety that at sometime there will be old green curlies then? Just trying to make sure, there’s someone who’d like my empea curlie, and I’ll let it go if I know someday I’ll have an old green one.
We are out of castings right now, but soon as we get some I’ll work on it.
Thanks so much for letting me know! No hurry 😆 , I can be very patient when I know it will eventually be.
And DITTO DITTO DITTO what WindstoneCollector said! (except maybe for the spectrals, and please please I’ll pay to get the curlie)
EDIT: Sorry to ask another question, but what will the probable price be, do you know? I see that the signed ones are $60 and ‘regular’ limiteds are $50.
Just that I’ll sell the empea I have for what I should have to pay for the green. So, is it a surety that at sometime there will be old green curlies then? Just trying to make sure, there’s someone who’d like my empea curlie, and I’ll let it go if I know someday I’ll have an old green one.

It’s the only green color scheme other than emerald? 😀 I love green. Emerald is a little too ‘off’ for me though. I like the natural look of the old green.
Hear hear! 😆 🙄
And I agree with Travistie, it IS a very pretty, natural color.Though, SPectrals are the 2 poses that I’m not looking to get in old green. The darker and metallic colors ‘work’ better with these poses to me for some reason. Something to do with the eyes, and imagining them as nocturnal creatures. My 1 Spectral is peacock, and I’m looking to get the Riser in peacock also.
Now, if there’s enough old green to use on some Spectrals, how about a couple Old Warrior prototypes before they’re gone lol…
That’s the way I understood it also… so I’d be willing to let this one go in that case. Maybe I should go ask first. They were $60 originally, right? Seems to me shipping was something like $14 to here…
I do have the COA and box, of course. And we’re close enough shipping wouldn’t be much, or we could meet somewhere.I’m more than slightly computer illiterate myself, but figured out how to do it using Photobucket (I didn’t try the other sites, so I can’t say whether Photobucket is easier or harder, just it was able to be used pretty easily by me). When you get the picture onto your computer, Photobucket can sort of grab it from there. Once you’ve downloaded it into photobucket, there’s a button you can click to edit the photo. Click that and then the ‘resize’ button, and change the size to ‘messageboard’ (took me awhile to figure out that if ‘messageboard’ wasn’t a size option, it’s already that size). Once you’ve done that, it’s ready to use. Copy and paste the bottom address under the pic- it’ll be something like [IMG]…./[IMG]. If you click on the right spot on that line, it’ll copy for you. Then come to your post-in-progress here, right click in your post, and click ‘paste’. That should put the address-thingy in your post, and when you submit, the picture will be there.
Sorry this is so long- if you’re as bad as I am, it took me forever to figure that out- so hope it helps!Since my collection suffered a tragic-but-hopefully-affordable loss and I think/hope to have a little extra soon for the piece I’ve been wanting, I’m looking for:
A young dragon in old green, towards the lighter yellowy/green with lots of brown end of that color spectrum. Minor flea bites or paint rubs are okay. I really miss my poor guy! 😥
A peacock rising spectral, brighter with lots of blue and green. Once again, minor flea bites and paint rubs are okay, but please no damage that would require sculpting!
Everything else I want is either in production so can wait (rock dragons, candlelamps, sconce, bookend) or is a fantasy like Melody’s Keeper PYO prototype or the black head and garden dragons. I am currently calling the SK a fantasy 🙄 .
Thanks for keeping this list and watching for us!
If it is a take-it-to-the-bank truth that there will be old green curlies, I’d part with mine. I paid extra for it since I missed the original auctions and bought it second hand, but for an old green I’d trade even or let it go for what the old green cost me.
Deep royal blue (leaning towards deep blue violet but not quite there) and silver would be very striking, and popular I think. Maybe keep the silver to where current colors are highlighted with gold (horns etc.), with silver eyes, and lighter on the belly leading to the deep blue on the sides and back.
I don’t really care for chocolates or sweets; guess I better make sure my will is in order for the stoning I’m about to receive. 😆 Of course, I’ve never tried really fine chocolate, but why waste it on someone like me? Now, popcorn (drool), chips, or pretzels…
I voted brown; it’s my 2nd favorite color after the greens, and if done like the sand, I’d have dragons in it too! Since it’s retired and the sand is so similar, I doubt they’d be chosen, though.
I like the idea of a blue or blue/purple scheme. As others have pointed out, there are other ‘warm’ schemes currently in production. Empea is ‘cool’, but it’s the only one, and most that I’ve seen tend more towards the green. What about one like that lovely blue male Chessie painted when she was 12?
Maybe add more purple/interference for more depth and a more contrasting eye color like grey?
That paint job Melody did on the Keeper, though… I’d KILL for that color! 😯 YUM!
Ooh, I’m in LOVE… I’d replace ALL my emeralds and empeas, even maybe some old greens for that, though I’d prefer an orange or red eye for contrast… Yes, I know this is an impossibility sigh.Back on topic, though, if not like Chessie’s, maybe something a little like this GORGEOUS PYO? (think it’s Watergazer’s, not sure now)
There;s never been a proper blue, true many peacocks had a lot of blue, but not consistently- and that color scheme proved its popularity.
October 14, 2007 at 11:29 pm in reply to: What Percent Of Your Collection is Retired / LE / LP #622109Actually 100% of mine is retired/LP, but I’m one of those who doesn’t have oodles of pieces. I only have 18 at the moment (was 19 but my daughter managed to throw a ball onto my young the other day and knocked it to the floor, where it SHATTERED 😯 ). My emphasis is on the old green color, so they’re all retired or LP- have them all yay! (or did before my young’s tragic accident 😥 😥 ) The ones not available in old green, I have in emerald or empea (only the OW, who is prototype #6/10, and the curlie are empea, so they’re LP). The only exception to the green is the sitting spectral, which is a nice bright peacock.
I never PLANNED on having only retired or LP pieces, it just happened that way. I like old green is all, started buying them in ’86.:P If they introduce any new dragon sculpts (or when I buy a PYO or some candlelamps or whatever), then I’ll have something current.
In the meanwhile, anybody know of a nice yellowy-green young in need of a home lol 🙄 .
Ever since I was a baby, I had this thing for lizards, then dinosaurs when I discovered them as a toddler, then dragons. Just something about a lizard or lizardy creature with the freedom of flight and power of a big predatory dinosaur (nope, pterosaurs were too bat/birdlike to hit the spot). I always imagined and drew them, fell in love with McCaffrey’s Pern (have a fire lizard tattoo), and then one day wandering in a little gift shop near my job I found this awesome, totally realistic family of dragons that looked like my dreams come to life. Unlike most dragons I’d seen, they looked like wild animals- not some wizard’s pet. I admired the scientific artistry of the sculpts (if that makes sense), the richness of the paint jobs (the shop had an old green family and a brown one), the lifelike glass eyes as opposed to flat painted ones… So here I am 21 years later (and still have that old green family I paid for weeks but had to have!)
