thanks, here is another shot of the Emperor with a Mother dragon – we discussed a long time ago whether he was factory paint or if he’d been “touched up” He’s cool either way 😉
More trail
and I think my favorite from the trip
Since I know there are some bird lovers here, this fellow was looking me over as I had a snack
Cathedral Rock, near Sedona
a trail to view the Red Rocks
looking up, nice bold color
Near where the “iconic” photo for the Red Rocks of Sedona is always taken, but I didn’t want to get soaking wet to get there…
I’m not really sure where to post this, I’ve seen photos here and under General Art.
Anyway, I took off for a few days to the northern part of the state, looking for what passes for fall color in Arizona 😉
Hannagan Meadow, often the coldest part of the state
White Mountains of AZ.
Some pictographs at Petrified Forest Natl Park.
Crystal Forest, petrified logs.
Jealous of all the wonderful collections out there. Here is a recent group photo of my small flock, not including a few PYOs in progress (eternally, I think) Also includes a guest appearance by my little wizard
since a lot of you are able to recognize feathers, I’m hoping someone can ID these. I won’t say who has possession of them, just to protect the innocent. I will say that they were discovered laying on the ground, while someone was taking a walk in the nearby National Forest. About 11 inches long.
thanks for any help
The white coiled male dragon arrived today, packed so safely I almost couldn’t unwrap him 😆 He’s in great shape, if I hadn’t known his tail had that tiny little chip I don’t know if I would have noticed it.
As Nirvanacat says, he doesn’t even smell like cigarette smoke, more like the very faintest whiff of incense – and that’s only with my nose just an inch away from him. I’m definitely happy with the transaction.
Thanks Nirvanacat.
PMd with a question…
hey, cool, I recognize that place – first the trail under the overhanging rock, then the gift shop area – falls took a minute. I was just there on vacation back in July. Looks like you had a really good time exploring. I couldn’t do much, I had injured my foot, so only made it down the trail as far as the old bathhouse on the beach where I soaked my foot for a while. There was a little more water when I was there in mid-July 😉
What I want to know is where in the world do you find bacon with that much meat in it !? All the bacon I ever see is more like the opposite of this pic, incredibly thin bands of meat with huge bands of fat 🙁 I love bacon but I don’t even buy it anymore, it’s not worth it.
I don’t think it’s just humidity, more like a combination of heat, humidity, type of gloss coat, bad luck…
Always make sure to wrap them with the smooth side of the bubble wrap inside. I saw a picture someone posted once it looked like the poor horse was attacked by an octopus or something, covered with “suction cup” marks
😯Worse though, someone sent me a finished custom once, that she hadn’t let the finish “cure” long enough. She wrapped him with toilet paper then bubble wrap, shipped him from cool humid WA state to hot dry AZ – removing the TP also removed paint 😥
I don’t know if this will help at all, but something to try before you take more drastic measures.
Like some others here, I also collect model horses. Sometimes they will also get the bubble wrap impressions, especially the glossy models. A recommended tip was to put the horse (or dragon) near a warm lamp for several days, hopefully in a dust-free environment, turning it as needed so it warms on all sides necessary. This can soften the gloss coat just enough to relax out the wrinkles. Of course, be very careful handling it while it is warm to avoid any fingerprints.
I know this has worked for people on glossy models, either factory finish or custom repaints. I don’t know if it will help with a Windstone, but it’s worth a try.
based strictly on handmade quilts I’ve had in the past
A quilt is a “sandwich” made of
the top layer – the squares or odd pieces that you sew all together
the bottom layer – usually just a plain complimentary fabric
the middle layer – the batting, this is the “insulation” to make the quilt warm and fluffy. You tie knots or sew a pattern through all the layers to keep the batting from shifting around and making lumps.
sorry, can’t help with actually making one. If you’re just using squares all one size, you should be able to just sew them all the same, giving yourself a uniform seam allowance so that it ends up aligned correctly. I’d probably sew squares into long strips, then sew the strips together. Keep in mind I haven’t done any sewing in years, and never made a quilt 😉
yup, peanuts.
I don’t remember where I came across it, but there was a story about baseball fields becoming “peanut-free zones” or they had a special “peanuts allowed” section. It’s all because so many people have peanut allergies now. You can’t even send peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches in the kid’s lunches anymore.
Same reason you don’t get peanuts on airplanes anymore, they just have those stupid little pretzels (which, I just found out on my vacation, they are now charging $3 for a tiny tiny bag! what, the plane ticket doesn’t cost enough…! )
Dragon87 wrote:What you want is a crate and a small room or pen that they can call their own. You can try to train them to poop in the crate if they are old enough (as in, not newborns).
ok, this is probably going to be a stupid question, but why would you want them to poo in their crate? We’ve only had one crate-trained dog in our family, but my understanding was that the crate is supposed to be like their den, their safe place to hang out and sleep, so if they need to be crated they aren’t upset over it. If the dog is pooing and peeing in his crate – hm, I can’t see him being happy to be confined inside of it. None of our dogs wanted to sleep among their own poo.
sorry if I’m wrong on this, as I said, we didn’t crate train until my brother got his Brittany – who was supposed to become a bird-dog which was why he was crate-trained. 😉 for safer transport to the hunt site in the back of the vehicle with other dogs, etc. Yeah, never did become the hunting dog.
