Thank you! I’ve had those eyes for a few years now and I’m glad to have finally been able to use them on a deserving piece.
Another piece is done! This is Sandstone Koi (why are there no koi emojis?)
I painted this one to test out how alcohol inks worked on gypsum, and I think their opaqueness worked great here. This little fella also got his own marble and special eyes! Looks pretty fierce from the side, huh? Too bad he’s not so fierce-looking head-on…
To the best of my memory I’ve had a small dragon with an air bubble, another small dragon with a miscast toe, an oriental with some air bubbles, and a unicorn with a bit of a missing ear, though for the last one I don’t remember if it was chipped off or miscast.
I checked my last oriental, again a March batch, and the belly seam was much better (not perfect and I could round it out a bit if I really wanted to), but some of the underbelly scales on the tail need work and the fur’s messed up on its upraised arm. The fur at the elbow looks like playdough does after you slam it on a flat surface. At least that bit can be fixed easy enough with some carving, but it’s an odd spot to get that kind of damage.
If the Orientals are relatively recent it would be good to check them and see. Consistent issues with the casting could mean a bad mold.
I consider bubbles to be a side effect of casting. Sucks to get stuck having to patch one but it’s a normal thing that happens.
Thanks! I’ll have to see how the ink takes to varnishing (namely to see if it bleeds), but if it does well I’d love to make more of them.
Another piece in the ice cream series is done! This is Mint Chocolate Sprinkles. I really love how the sprinkles pop against the brown of the fur.
This one is being sold via cross-posted auction in the classified ads section here and on the WE Fan Club over on Facebook.
Here’s the link to the classified ad: https://windstoneeditions.com/members/mika/listings/view/1658390/mint-chocolate-sprinkles-pyo-ki-rin-for-auction/He looks great! I’m super excited to see him show up in the store!
Also I realized I’ve switched O and P up, and I can’t edit the OP anymore. Please go off of the letters in the picture and not my oopsie-d list.
PMs work the best for me. It keeps everything neat and together.
Here is the swap piece I received from Adrienne Hall all the way in Canada! This space-themed fella looks absolutely stunning! The scenery looks amazing and I really love how only the blue and silver areas are metallic – it gives the piece a nice bit of pop without being overwhelming. There’s also a faint gold sparkle on the black parts of the body that shows off the best in bright light.
I love this piece!<3I like that egg’s color.
And here is my newest finished piece, Deluxe Mint Choco-sune! She’s the first of four mint chocolate ship themed pieces and is part of a larger ice cream flavor themed series. She’s also very proud of getting all that chocolate sauce on herself.
She is also up for auction! The auction is being cross-posted both here in the classifieds and on the Facebook fan page.
