You might need to re-sign up for the newsletter. I think there was an issue a little while back and some names got dropped off of it.
Hmm. I didn’t know these were a thing; I might have bought one had I known. I will enjoy the eye candy 🙂
They are a new thing. First release.
Congratulations!
These all look wonderful!
Ouch! Feel better soon Bodine!
Melody tends to give her equines heavily feathered legs. This allows for extra support because the gypsum is fragile. The young qi-lins have extra feathers in the same spot.
January 21, 2023 at 9:25 am in reply to: What are your squeaks? Tell Melody here!! (part 2) #1667514Okay. Received my piece last week, held off on opening it until I finished mine (it’s incentive). 905 by L. Sparling—it’s dealer’s choice, so I don’t know the specific theme she was going for. Phoenix on rose quartz with charcoal and green with metallic gold and silver, custom eyes.
Here’s the problem—I don’t have Photoshop anymore, and for some reason my current photo management program won’t let me shrink the file size. So I don’t have any photos here because they’re too big! They are over on the Facebook page because that will compress them. (This is especially annoying because I use Photoshop for work all the time, this is a thing I know EXACTLY how to do… in that program. GIMP doesn’t have what I’m looking for, at least not where I can find it.)
It only lets me do 4.
Melody makes the original sculpture, they make a mold of it and all the ones for sale are cast in gypsum from it. Then they are hand painted and airbrushed. The 1996 on the sculpt is the year Melody made and copywrited it. All castings will have the same stamp. The copper patina finish would be worth more than the stone one because less were made. Whether it is worth that much more is up to the folks bidding on it. Usually though, pieces in that size range don’t go that high unless they are test paints or retired and really rare. This piece is postponed production, so they could possibly make more in the future.
I don’t remember getting an email, but an announcement was posted here and on Facebook. Also the pre-order listing was on the main page of this website. I don’t think it was posted anywhere else, so if you were looking on the product pages you may have missed it. The announcement here posted on 9/11.

(part 2) #1662878Definitely “silvery silver” and not “intense black silver”. It almost looks more like the “overcast” color Gina did a while back.
Any chance of Autumnal or Halloween themed grabs in the near future. (I don’t really expect it as it looks like you’ve been very busy with other projects, but figured it didn’t hurt to ask. 😉 )
I am having the casters make a batch of pebble wolves to do as pumpkin spice wolves! I hope I’ll have time to do them.
The African Wild dog hippogriffs I am working on now will probably take me a few more weeks, that leaves only a short time to get pebble wolves painted before Halloween!I’m sure no one would mind if the pumpkin spice wolves are a little late. Of course, winter wolves would be super gorgeous too.
I like the blue eyes with the Carnelian because it picks up the blue accents in the scales. Metallic gold eyes would be pretty too and pick up the gold accents.
Those cranberry ones look like the darker pieces in the ruby collection.
