OK, my first “Ask Melody” question, lol, please by kind. And sorry if it has been asked before.
Have you thought about releasing the Coiled Mother Dragon in a new color? I think the sculpt is beautiful and graceful, but, unfortunately, it is a little out of my price range on Ebay. I know you said you are trying to reduce the amount of things in production, so I just didn’t know if maybe the male might disappear and the mother reappear? Maybe, I don’t think that far ahead! The Coiled Mother is one of my favorites, but the male coiled dragon with the globe outsold her, so she got put aside for awhile. I think she would sell just as well as the male if she had a globe instead of an egg.

No, we may re-issue any dragon. We just don’t repeat color schemes after they are retired.

OH! That dragon. Right.
The little coiled dragon’s egg is made out of pewter with a real gold plating on it. It can withstand a good scubbing, just be careful not to get anything too abrasive on the momma.A film? oh-oh. That could be the paint coming off for some reason.
The eggs are made out of the same gypsum as the dragons, and they are painted with acrylic paint. The paint shouldn’t come off, but who knows what has happened to yours. If the film is just tobacco smoke or grease, it should be safe to wash it gently. The only thing that will hurt the paint is acetone or other solvents. Don’t use vinegar or any acid as a degreaser. Those can damage the gypsum underneath the paint.
Wait a minute , I just read the subject line of your question again… Our dragons don’t have golden eggs.. are you sure your dragon is a Windstone?pheonixx wrote:Hi Melody…just curious about a piece. I bought a Windstone figurine today that I’ve never seen before anywhere. It has the Windstone felt and the Pena tag, but even Astral Castle doesn’t list it. It’s a cat playing in a sack with just the tail and rear end visible out the back and a hint of a couple claws coming through in the front. Is it authentic? If so, when was it made? Thanks for the insight! (Or to anyone else who reads this and knows for sure)
Yes, that’s a real Windstone.

They are blue, turquoise, green and violet.Very much like the Old Warrior prototype in the Ebay gallery.

Could we please see a picture of the current version of the hybrid emerald-peacock dragon??? It would be much appreciated…. 😀
I had a nice picture to post, but my camera was among the missing when we got our car ransacked.
(it was on one of the camera cards, all of which were in the case with the camera, of course.)Whine.
I can find another camera, and take another pic. I’ll post it in my gallery soon as I can.laphon1 wrote:Melody, have you ever considered having all your prints, drawings, paintings etc. published in book form? Or anything in a similar format?
Yes, we have. We think about things like that all the time, but just haven’t got a spare moment to work on a project like that. We can’t even keep up with the website’s needs!
We’ve talked about doing a Windstone collector’s book too, like all those other fancy companies have, with pictures of all the pieces, with dates of issue and retirement etc. but we never did that either. Probably never will. It would be cool though.
I was seriously thinking about doing a simple Cafe’ Press calender with Windstone dragon pix, just for the forum members. I can’t seem to get a clear answer from Cafe’ Press about what rights, if any they have to my copyrighted art if I publish it through them though.WolfenMachine wrote:I know this would fit better in the “Old Warriors” thread, but was afraid it would get lost in the 5 pages of replies.
Melody, do you have any plans on doing the Old Warrior(or any of the larger pieces outside of the family) in the new Hybrid color any time “soon” (3-4 months)?
What about the gold paint? I’m trying to budget 🙂
Yes, we plan to do most or all of the dragons in the new colors eventually, the only problem is the Secret Keeper in Hybrid em pea. We said in the auction that there would not be any more of those! However, I stated in the Ebay words for the prototype Old Wariors that any of these test colors might be a new production color, so we can do the regular warriors in Hybrid.
I plan to do a paint sample of the Emperor soon as I can get to it, we have one of the warrior, so all we need is time to paint them. I can’t tell you exactly when that will be! I don’t know. Windstone does’t operate with scheduals and time tables and calanders. We do stuff as we get to it.oh right, thanks for reminding me about both things.
Greater Basilisk wrote:Dragon Master wrote:Greater Basilisk wrote:I still like Viridian best. Aurora isn’t a color or a stone, so it wouldn’t fit with any of the other color names.
Peacock, Brown, Black and Ggold, Gold and Green are not stones either
Brown and green are colors, and Black Gold is a color with a precious metal. So they fit the list. Sorry for not specifying. 🙂 Peacock is the only one not a color or precious material by definition, and even that is used as a color name.
I still think listings like “Windestone Edition Male Dragon in Neptune” or “Triton” would sound strange.Peacock is a mineral. I think it is a type of coal. That is what the peacock dragons are painted after, not the bird. http://imagesource.allposters.com/images/pic/NGSPOD01/100334~Close-View-of-a-Large-Chunk-of-Peacock-Coal-Posters.jpg
John, the husband thing, came up with Blugruple, Griffin, the brother thing, came up with Empphire.Dragon Master wrote:I just came up with Triton since he is supposed to be the King of the seas
Also known as Neptune.
wolflodge100 wrote:if I saw a dragon called sapphire I would expect it to be dark blue
Me too. But sapphires come in almost all colors.
dragon_egg wrote:What about the color name of Sapphire Jade? Sapphires come in pretty much every color (except red which is ruby).
I love the name Sapphire, but do these dragons look like Sapphire? Seems they need to be more blue. But then, the dragons we called Emerald aren’t really emerald colored.Good Emeralds are deep green. The Jade dragons weren’t jade colored either- so naming the colors incorrectly is part of our tradition!
ddvm wrote:I like the name tourmaline although after seeing the picture I now want a lifesaver.
yeah I thought of tourmaline, but it isn’t usually the deep colors that this dragon is. I’ve only seen it myself in kinda a pale green and pinkish purple.
