I’m with Nambroth. I’ll let John handle this thread.
littleironhorse wrote:Well, I sort of think that Melody’s test paints also serve to promote the confusion, somewhat.
I mean, when there were only production colors, it was easy to say: “Oh yeah, that’s a Windstone Editions dragon by Melody Pena in peacock”. But with so many test colors, some of which differ only slightly, and even more coming out regularly, it’s getting more and more difficult to draw a line.
Again, I love all those test colors and could not be happier that Melody is offering them for sale. But I feel that the situation is not as clear cut as it once was. That is why they come with a letter of authenticity, and are signed , to prove they are real.
WolfenMachine wrote:Hi Melody! Will the Sushi Cat art print be avaliable any time soon? Its so beautiful from the little picture on your website. 😀
Probably not, we weren’t planning another printing run soon, far as I know. We may in the future.
I was going to put it on a couple Cafe’press items when I got a chance. It would make a cute mug or tile. I’m glad you like it!Kyrin wrote:I just bought a Mother Dragon in Brown from eBay, and unfortunately her felt pad is totally ruined. Is there any chance I could get a replacement? If so, how do we do it?
I understand that Windstone won’t sell the pads directly, due to making it easier for fraudulent attempts at copies, but I’d really like to restore this girl. She has a few chips too, that I plan to repair.
Anyway, could I arrange to ship her to Windstone, have you guys replace the pad and then ship her back?
Nambroth mentioned storage issues, but I figure if I clean the bottom of her of all remaining felt material so she is ready for her new one, send her, then the staff there can put a new one on her and ship her back the same day she arrived.
Let me know if this could be done. If not, then I guess I’ll just get some felt from the craft store and replace it, it isn’t like I ever plan to sell her, but it would still be nice if she could be original in every way after she is fixed.
KyrinSorry I didn’t answer quick, I’m not at home so I don’t have regular internet.
I’ll need to ask John about whether we could send you a new pad or not.We want to be sure that the dragon is indeed a real Windstone.Save the pad if you have removed it.I’ll tell John you’d be willing to ship us the dragon.ddvm wrote:Just saw the announcement – didn’t even read the thread before ordering. And, yes, I put Love, Fuzzy but I blamed Melody.
heehee. She’ll kill me!
dragonmedley wrote:Is everyone gonna sign “Love, Fuzzy”?
Do it!
purplecat wrote:I think I remember seeing something a large PYO dragon a while back and I thought I’d ask since I’m working up the bravery to do a PYO. Are they available? Also thought I’d ask about a PYO flapcat as I’m itching to do one purple.(we need a begging smiley) (insert one here!) Last question, I promise. If you find a damaged windstone and would like to custom paint it after repairing it(say light blue male or fledgie) is that allowed, and I’d have to keep it, right? I really don’t want to step on any toes so I figured I’d ask. Thanks.
The large pyo dragon is cast in epoxy and ready to have molds made. Our mold maker is on vacation, so everything is at a halt!
I am going to let John answer the question about repaints, because I really don’t know the answer!tsija wrote:This might seem like a stupid question but…
How is this pronounced? Is it Poad like toad? Or is it Po-ad? Or something else altogether.
Just curious… Like toad. Though I like
Po-ad.mikki wrote:Melody wrote:So, no matter what, he would be worth more than fifty bucks! Good deal.
oh, he’s definitely worth more to me 😀 I just wonder in case, god forbid, something happens and I need to raise cash… Not to mention I sometimes wonder if I should consider insurance on some of the collectibles. I just started mentally adding up how much one little case of Artist Resin horses I have is worth… 😯Just a big bookcase full of OF Breyers adds up…
tsija wrote:Sooo…that little thumbnail of the Autumn Leaf Secret Keeper is driving me nuts. I’ve been waiting for weeks to see the pic and, now that it is up, it is so tiny I can here my inner demon chuckling. I keep checking back to see if the larger picture is up…hoping it will be soon… 😯
Ok! I got it to work! There is a big pic in my gallery now.
mikki wrote:Melody wrote:BUT the pad looks real; is there a Windstone stamp on it? (you can’t fake those too easily)
The pad does have the Windstone Editions logo and North Hollywood California. It does NOT look like it was removed from another one, it’s a little dusty but otherwise clean.
Quote:Something else that seems unusual is the sort-of blobby bumps on the very close up pic of the tail/ hip area.
Not sure what bumps you mean ? Unless it’s the tiny ones on the dorsal scales right above the wing tip, etc. They really don’t show up if you just look or touch, it’s the close-up and the flash that brought them out. If you mean the ones that are following the line of scales two or three rows above the wing-tip, those are the scales right where it changes from upper body scales to leg scales or under-tail scales. It’s the same on both sides.
Quote:Is the dragon as heavy as other Windstones?
um, what’s a real Emperor weigh ? My only other production pieces are the Young dragons, coiled, and curled. (deep nervous breath…) He weighs about 10 pounds.
Unfotunately, I can’t contact any previous owners, because I bought him at an antique mall in 2005.
My best guess is that he was an original brown, and someone went back and repainted him by dry-brushing the flat gold color over his sides and tail. He really is not shiny, that’s all from the flash. The belly and legs are just the normal orangey-brown with darker brown antiquing. Would someone at the factory have done that, or is it an after-market addition ? 😆 Of course, if that is the case,to someone else he’s only “worth” what a body Emperor would cost, I suppose.
btw, the stones are blue-green (turquoise, teal ?) if that matters…
thanks again, Melody 🙂 He sounds like a real Windstone to me, ten pounds is about right, the stones are the right color, the pad is real.. and the old browns did have dark brown antique in the cracks. So, no matter what, he would be worth more than fifty bucks! Good deal.
SPark wrote:Ha! I KNEW IT!
John said that you couldn’t do a google search for “something dragon” and get pictures of Windstones. But I KNEW that at some point in the past I’d been looking for something not-Windstone dragon related, and had found heaps of Windstone pictures. I just couldn’t remember what the heck I’d been looking for.
I did it again today though! Do a google image search for “hatching dragon family” and you get Windstones! (You also ALWAYS get Windstones with any search for ki-rins.)
See, I was right! *thbbbts*Did I ever say you weren’t right? *tthbbbs* Of course you are right.

Edit: SqUeAk!! Emerald Peacock sQuEaK!!I told Olympia today (she’s the head painter) that we need to paint production O.Warriors in gold, for starters, but this project will have to wait a couple weeks, till I get back. We are heading up to Corvallis,Oregon again this weekend.
Nytetyger wrote:Greater Basilisk wrote:They come with Poad cards? Ahhh – as if the Poads themsevles weren’t enough to collect, now we’ve got another incentive.
The card is really nice; I like it better than a certificate, as I can actually put the card next to the poad. It’s signed, too, as is the poad, and you get an amusing fact on the card about how poads communicate, and that they come from Melody’s comic, Reptangle(tm).
The poads are larger than I thought; I’d wondered at the price myself, but they’re a LOT bigger than a curl and quite substantial.I’m glad you like the card idea.. this first batch of cards I made and printed out myself on our copier, but I was thinking of having a nicely printed card for everything, instead of those dumb letters.. I mean, what do you do with a letter? The cards are cuter, and will fit in those protective plastic collector’s card sheets they sell for game cards.
I am planning to do ten.
