I can tell just by looking at it you put a lot of effort into it. I guess it just surprised me that a – to use an understatement – brown griffin with shiny feathers can go for more than a big griffin male or certain OW prototypes. I don’t how much production cost is on the painted production sculpts, but I do for the PYOs, so comparing the intitial cost with the final caught me ooff guard. But the hourly wage comparison is good. Do you get any percentage of the sale price of your PYOs?
I think you’d have to compare with more similar item, meaning other one-of-a-kind pieces. If you do, you’ll see that the winner is actually getting a great deal on those. The cheapest one of Melody’s OOAK was actually the Wedding Cake Family at $735, followed by the Black and Tan Family at $855. And if you look at single pieces the next one in line Gold Leaf POW at $1428.
Although I guess we could discuss this all day without coming to a consensus. It’s all in the eye of the beholder really (or in some cases, in the bank account of the beholder! 😀 )
Here is the ebay picture of my fledgling but he is a little yellower live, closer to Mimi’s Old Warrior.

Nah, things can change in an instant Little- in 6 days I may decide I can put off a bill until mid-month to buy this piece. Always subject to change- besides, it could be a decoy 😈 Ya just never know- I’m CRAZY like that :p
😆 😆 😆
A question for everyone out there who have several white pieces…
How much variation is there in the white dragons? I just got my first white one (the fledgling) and I wouldn’t exactly call him white. He is a very, very, very, (how many verys do I need?) pale yellow with gold accents. I actually think pearl is an excellent name for him!
Don’t get me wrong! I absolutely LOVE the color and the dragon! I was just wondering about variation…
I can’t wait for the sitting spectral to come out in white, I think that’s the color I’m gonna get both spectrals in.

Anyone wants stats? High seller for Nam so far was the Shimmer Griffin at $405.00, but we have been starved for her stuff, so I guess it might go higher…
Not bidding (I only collect dragons), but watching eagerly!
GO! NAM GO!

Well, for some of us, it wouldn’t have made a difference anyway… My ebay ID is completely different that my Forum ID, but Skigod, Nirvana and several others I just can’t think of right now, have the same ID on both venues.

I kinda like to see who is bidding. I may feel bad for outbidding them, but it wont last long 😆 and it does not really keep me from bidding.
I kind of agree with both of you on this one… Keeping the IDs private will ensure that no-one refrains from bidding.
On the other hand, I do like to see who bids and who ends up with a piece and, like Ski, I have no qualms about bidding against one of you! 😉
But if doing it this way means that more people bid and that Windstone and Nam get the full value for their pieces, then I’m all for it!
Did you ever see Rugged Lark live? He always used to do a bridle-less routine in shows… In fact, I think he did one for one of the Olympics, I don’t remember which…
I just went to see them, absolutely gorgeous! I’ve been wondering Arlla… Did you get any of the PYO Dragons or do you plan to specialize in griffins? I’d love to see what you would do with a dragon.
Are there really more or are you just noticing them more? I know I’ve been reading fantasy since I was a teenager and that was a while ago. Although I guess I might have been spoiled since I got my books from a bookstore that specialized in fantasy and science-fiction… Shelves and walls full of nothing but fantasy and science-fiction! I could spend all day in there!
Was that in Germany? My former coach used to sell a lot of QH in Germany. I imagine he still does, I just haven’t been in touch with him in a few years. I remember him telling us (his students) that of all the european countries, Germany was the one where reining was getting really popular. He thought that if it ever made it to the Olympics, there would be strong competitors there. It seems Germans don’t mind spending a lot of money on good horses!

Near mint #520326I’m thinking that they will be available in gold as well, since the ones that sold as special editions were gold leaf… Not the same thing at all and none of the brown and purple shading of the new golds.
