You guys are always welcome to express whatever thoughts you have about my stuff! That’s what this forum is for!

How ’bout I paint a batch of just brindle wolves? Then everyone can have one.
They could be still be a grab bag -all slightly different.

You are so sweet Melody, honestly!

A few dissented posts shouldn’t be mistaken for the general opinion of a large buying audience

This is starting to take on a belittling tone and it’s a little upsetting. The fact of the matter is that NO ONE knows the “general opinion” of the large buying audience, and to infer that your opinion is the opinion of the majority isn’t right either :/

We are just expressing opinions, and I don’t see why the discussion should take on an air or “right” or “wrong”. Windstone will decide to do what they decide to do. That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t express their views within reason.

Regarding the grab bags that Windstone lists on Ebay, I feel like if people had their hearts set on getting one specific grab bag out of a batch of +140, they were almost certainly going to be disappointed regardless of where that piece gets sold. Getting upset because you were deprived of the 1 in 140 chance of getting your number one favourite straight from the store seems just a tad unreasonable, but that’s just my opinion.

          (snip)

That said, if they are in the class photo, they should be included as part of the store stock, period. Pulling pieces for Ebay after they have been shown in the class photo seems like the only reason to feel misled.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to look at a class photo and gauge your chances at getting one of the ones that you love. It’s really up to each individual person on whether or not it’s worth the gamble – what’s “worth it” is almost certainly going to differ from person to person. I’m not sure if anyone said that they bought from this batch because there was ONE specific wolf they had their heart set on (maybe I’m wrong?), but I will say that there were a few that I would have really loved to see appear on my doorstep and the brindle was one of them. It wasn’t so much of “my heart is set on this piece!” as it was “ooh, I like these 10 in particular! I love the spotted guys, and that brindle is amazing!” I cannot ignore the fact that it was part of the reason why I bought from this batch.

I also agree that it’s not unreasonable for some pieces to appear on ebay – but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people who look on Facebook and see photos of wolves indicated as part of the upcoming Grab Bag Batch to assume that all of those wolves are going to be part of the batch. Though people who frequent the forums may be informed about the possibilities of pieces not making it to the batch, there are other websites that Windstone advertises on – and Facebook is one of them. It’s not unreasonable to assume that not everyone comes to the website, and not everyone is aware of the inter workings of Windstone behind the scenes.

ALL I am suggesting is that they are more sensitive to what they indicate is going to be in the batch, or at the very least – inform people when they put up each picture that it’s NOT a guarantee, so that there are no misunderstandings.

Frankly, putting an item on eBay gives more people the chance to see it and have the chance to purchase it. The thought that this is somehow unfair boggles my mind. Equally, with a batch size of 150, how can anyone think that just because they have fallen in love with a particular item that they will get it? ?

How is having every grab bag from the store photo included not as equally fair?
Regarding your second comment – I don’t think that anyone thinks they will get one particular piece from a grab bag batch, but it’s most definitely a weighing reason why people might purchase from a batch. And getting your #1 favorite is not out of reach – it has happened to several people before (myself included), and even on page two of this thread!

I think if the class photos are released before the grab bags are actually in the store, then it would take care of this issue as one can study the photos to see if the ones they are particularly interested in are there so it is also fair to the buyers.

Easiest solution to me is that the preview photos ought to be stopped and the only photo with a batch is the store photo. Then it truly is a grab bag.

          Yes – to either suggestion!

And I just want to make clear – I am not at all against Windstone putting some of their pieces on ebay – I just think they should not indicate that those pieces are going to be in the batch of grab bags and then take them out before they go into the store. I think this debate has strayed a little (my own included), and this was the core issue that really bothered me. Again – NOT against ebaying grab bag pieces. But not happy that they are, for all intents and purposes, advertised as being in the batch and then cherry picked out of it.

(EDIT: Etruscan, you just hit 2000 posts!! )

She ebays the stragglers that get left behind. A few get left out of every batch because of small paint defects that I want to fix, like scratches or missing mouth stripes. Once in awhile she pulls out one of the unusual ones, so everyone can have a chance at them.

I understand what you’re trying to say here Melody, but I think that when they are included in the grab bag batch, everyone does already have a chance at them. When they are put on ebay, arguably less people have a chance at items because their prices almost always skyrocket from the original store price. That systematically cuts people out that can’t find it in their budgets to compete.

In any case, I appreciate that it seems like the brindle being in the photos was an oversight. However, can you guys please try to be more sensitive about that type of thing in the future? I don’t think it’s a secret that many of us watch for pictures and start dreaming depending on what we see in them, and I hope you can understand why some of us feel pretty disappointed that something that was implied as included in the batch now is likely completely unavailable to us.

I am so sick of the USPS. The “Tracking” they provide is laughable at best, and its driving me nuts. My package was supposed to arrive today, and was listed several times as “on time for delivery on Monday.” Now it says “on time for delivery on Tuesday.” They clearly don’t understand the meaning of “On time.”

Also, the last few packages I’ve shipped or received they listed the shipping label as being created…about 5 hours after they listed the package as picked up. I’m no rocket scientist, but I’m pretty sure the fact I have a tracking number and the package was shipped have to come before the package is listed as shipped, but it’s backwards nearly all the time nowadays. One of the last trades I did the tracking didn’t even show up until after the package had been delivered.

It’s just so frustrating that they’re all over the place with their info. It’s not like I’m shipping organs or anything, but it drives me nuts how haphazardly their system is run.

YES! They were great for me up until a couple of months ago, and now “2 day” delivery packages take upwards of 3 at the least, and tracking is completely unreliable.

I also noticed the last time I had something shipped to me that the label was marked as “created” 5 hours after I got notification for it.. and it was from a time zone BEHIND me, not ahead. Still, the package delivery going days later than they used to is the thing that upsets me the most, and it’s laughable that they can change anything to be “on time” if they can just switch the day it’s due..

I think Melody has mentioned before that a few GBs of each batch are held back for ebay? Maybe someone else said that but I remember that from somewhere.

I had always just assumed that this meant they held back a few randomly from the batch. Knowing now that they hand picked at least one of the more special ones is pretty disappointing. The brindle was one of reasons I got a wolf, and although I knew my chances of getting him were slim, it’s still disheartening to see that he was purposely taken out and my chances are now zilch.

I do see mine – it’s marked as Payment Received. I was hoping that mine would get sent out before the weekend but no luck there. They probably have a lot of orders to sort through though!

These are the pretties that I am the most smitten with from those we can see 🙂
Of course that’s bound to change, but I certainly think the ones with the brindle and spotted patterning are the most beautiful, despite my aversion to the bi-eye look!

Oh, and I will start a new thread about this later on, but I WILL be accepting more pictures for the gallery of wolves (You can see the pictures I received from the last batch by clicking the pretty wolf in my signature!). I was going to start a Colt gallery but I only received 4 entries for that one so it never took off (for anyone wondering what happened there).

In any case, even if you don’t see my post about it later, if you’d like to see your wolf in the gallery below, send me a picture of your beauty from the front (see the gallery for examples) and send it to me in a PM or by email 🙂

Has anyone here attempted to re-seal a crazed piece? (I don’t recommend this– do it at your own risk)

This is what I was thinking. I may attempt it on a piece and watch it for results – I have an old male dragon that has some crazing and I would be willing to try re-sealing a section of it with some of my Liquitex paint-on varnish to see if it does anything. I figure I can try it on a section that is less visible. He needs some repairs anyway 🙂

(edit: I’d also like to vote for a slightly larger sized class photo pic, just so we can drool a bit my closely!)

This! I always have to artificially enlarge the pictures when I am looking for favorites >< is there any way we can get a larger picture in the class photos? They used to be a bit bigger ^^
