Brandi did some test paints on dragons too… they look grand! ‘specially the Lap with the silver horns…
Oh God. I will NEED one of these.
No kidding! If I wasn’t leaving on vacation tomorrow, I’d blow my tax refund on these instead. That being said, if dragons show up in this color, I’m ALL OVER THAT!
I love these!

Bettas aren’t terribly difficult. Warm, soft water and a sponge filter in a 2-3 gallon tank are best. Plants are wonderful–preferably live or silk (plastic will likely leave his fins ragged). If you want to have gravel (which you probably will if you have plants), try to stick to a dark color if you have a dark colored fish or lighter if you have a lighter colored fish. Contrary to popular belief, he will not blend in, but will be more confident and more colorful. Yes, they’re pretty good jumpers. I had one that would jump from the water for blood worms I would hold for him. He was fun–but I definitely had a lid for him. Have fun with your new fish. They do ship well, so he’ll probably be just fine when he arrives. Just make sure to acclimate him to his new water slowly.
I’ll have to take pictures later this week or weekend, but I got one that looks almost exactly like the Amethyst coloration. I like it, but I would prefer a brown one with spots or something more natural.
I’m good with pretty much anything. I like the sketch idea, too. Or a printed page from “The Veligent” that’s signed.
Ahhhhhhh are the plants gonna disappear??? I have sent a bunch but I have been collecting the ones I want. I figured we’d be able to keep our garden of flowers!!
I’m not certain, but that’s what I’m gathering from the DC Forum. I think you keep the ones that are gifted to you, though.
I think that the Valentine’s Day event ends tonight. If anyone has grown plants, make sure you give them away before they *poof*.
Well, they let me out of there with a PhD, so probably not too badly. 😉 It’s been a while, though, so all I can say is that I’m done done done with school! Actually, there were some things I really enjoyed about it, but being a grad student, overall, wasn’t fun.
I didn’t do a thesis on the disease, alas. But I heard a lot about it from colleagues when I went to conferences and whatnot.
I remember when they figured out exactly what caused FOP (I was just finishing up graduate school with a thesis related to bone-forming cells). What a strange and debilitating disease. I certainly hope they figure out how to stop it. It might be hard to reverse damage once it’s done, but even moderate progress is definitely a step in the right direction!
February 10, 2014 at 11:26 pm in reply to: Has anyone had to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? #908697TDM is a wise woman. American society has relegated mental illness to a “shameful” or “imaginary” disease. It is an illness that should be taken seriously and treated. It isn’t an “attitude problem” or a “weakness.” It does require making a decision to help yourself and let others help you. If you’re ready to be better, you’re already moving the right direction. But don’t believe that it’s a lonely road that you just have to tough out. Allow friends and family to support you, and get medical help–not just pharmacological, but also counseling of some sort. You are not alone, and it doesn’t take a war to suffer from PTSD. I think that there was some evidence out there that showed that 9/11 actually triggered PTSD in a good number of people who weren’t physically at any of the locations that were affected or even have a friend, relative, or acquaintance directly involved. Most recovered after a few weeks or months. But where other issues are happening at the same time as PTSD, it can be harder to recover and they can feed off each other.
Anybody want any of our snow? It hasn’t snowed in a few days, but our driveway and sidewalks are starting to look like canyons.
Sent LIH and Siri PMs. Enjoy!
