Hi! Nice Site update… I looked at the Store site and found it easy to use and found some product pieces I didn’t see before.
For example, in the PYO category I saw that there were some items (Black Rescues) I didn’t know could possibly be available at a later time. I’ve already clicked on a couple to be notified when back in stock. 🙂
Question, though… the far right column in the Store doesn’t seem to be formatted correctly, those category icons/boxes are much smaller. I assume you’re working on a fix?

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comThanks for the kind words, everyone! I must say I can see getting addicted to this very easily. It had been a long time since I did anything like painting and I forgot how relaxing and enjoyable it is- I had a lot of fun planning this guy and then seeing that vision turn to reality. I have a winged wolf to paint next and am hoping that the Keeper dragon models get restocked soon.
Ela_Hara- I’m sure yours will turn out even better! I think the best advise I could offer is to spend the extra money on higher quality paints and to really plan out what you want to do ahead of time, both of which were in the PYO tutorial. I thought it was really helpful and actually walked around with it up on my smartphone while shopping.
Oh, believe me, I’m really big about researching, which could be a good or bad thing depending upon your take on it (takes a little bit of time for me to actually get to the ‘doing’ part). There’s A LOT of great tips on the Forum posts and I’ve just about read every one in the PYO and repairs forums going back to 2011 or earlier. A really good one was using a Cake decorator’s stand that is basically a ‘lazy susan’ to be able to revolve your PYO piece around without holding/picking it up unless you need to. Great tip!
Good Luck on your Wolf! 🙂

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comThank you everyone! I will definitely look up those threads rock-reader! 🙂
I’ve been wondering, I thought a poad was a budgie cross guinea pig but the name (to me) suggests a pigeon crossed with a toad! Which is right? 🙂
Poads(tm) most closely resemble budgie / guinea pig hybrids, but their bums are rounder, and they have stubby little tails that guinea pigs lack entirely.
They have no toad in them. I just made the name up and it stuck.Hey, I was partly right!
I thought the Poads’ heads/faces were patterned after Budgies (also known as Parakeets)! I used to have a pretty green budgie when I was a kid, they are so cute and intelligent! 🙂It also makes more sense now about the guinea pig back end, although I initially thought ‘hampster’. I was trying to figure out how the ‘-oad’ worked in with the name, and just couldn’t figure that part out.
Good to know! Thanks for the full explanation, Melody!

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comIn Maryland we also see more ‘Piebald’ and White deer, but there have been one or two actual ‘Albinos’ with pink eyes seen on our Eastern Shore.
I’ve personally seen one of the ‘Piebalds’ which are mostly a mixture of almost all white with tan spotting along the back to the tail, around the shoulders, neck and head … more like a tan/brown/white Tobiano Paint horse. They’re very pretty.

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comOh Wow, What a Beauty! He’s a Fantastic First PYO!
He looks like Lava to me!I’ve been lurking around the PYO Forums to research painting my first PYO also. I’m actually going to start with my Muse, even though I’ve also already bought a Foo Mom, Small Dragon and a Keeper Dragon. I’m also going to check out painting supplies this weekend. Unfortunately, I’m usually extremely busy in the Fall, so I might not actually get to paint any of my PYOs until mid-November or in December.
Hope my first PYO’s turn out as nicely as yours did!

That Rainbow Pumpkin is Fantastic!
I like the fact that the dragon doesn’t blend in with the rock and is so colorful – it does remind me of a reptile you might encounter in a South American Rainforest.I Love It! 🙂

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comSeptember 12, 2013 at 5:17 pm in reply to: Need Advise to Fix Emerald Peacock Mother's Eye Rim #902592I find that running eye socket under warm water loosens up the eyes as long as they were put in with white glue like the factory uses I then gently work just the glass eye very carefully with a fine toothpick until eye releases. Be careful not to damage eye socket further. The glue residue releases the same way. Warm water to soften it up.
Thanks! I’ll try it. I’m sure my Mother is from the factory, so I should be good. 🙂

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comSeptember 11, 2013 at 7:22 pm in reply to: Need Advise to Fix Emerald Peacock Mother's Eye Rim #902551I’ve got another question regarding the eyes for my Emerald Peacock Mom …
She has her blue eye intact, the one with the rim area issue, but her other eye is missing – I bought her this way from eBay, and I thought I could try and fix her up, it seems like an easy fix. The eye socket for the missing eye is in perfect shape – just has some residue glue.Susie was kind enough to send me not one, but two replacement blue eyes, in case the replacement eye didn’t quite match the good intact eye.
If I do feel like replacing the intact eye, is there a good way to safely remove the existing eye, and what about the empty socket I’m putting the new eye into – suggestions on removing the residue glue?
Thanks!

Since I’ve never tried doing a repair and/or a repaint, I’m getting an older dragon with some issues to practise on.Here’s a photo of the area at the lower eye rim. It doesn’t look like much and It’s not really too serious. it’s enough to be noticeable to me, maybe I’m picky. I just don’t want to make it any worst.

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comI would vote tuxedo or forest! But I don’t know if I’ll take part, because I’ve never even painted up a PYO for me yet! (I was wavering over buying one soon along with a Christmas gift.)
Yes, I’m in the same position… not sure if I will participate. I guess I’ve got until Sept. 22 to consider it.
I haven’t painted one for myself yet either. I’ve gotten PYO Muse, Dragon, Foo Mom, and Keeper Dragon to paint when I get the chance. I haven’t painted in so long, I need to get back into it.

I’m going to have to sit this one out and perhaps join the next one, especially if it is after the New Year. But I’ll be curious about what everyone paints. After the final swaps, does everyone post what they received?🙂

*** Come visit me on deviantArt at http://ela-hara.deviantart.comthey say it’s an emerald but it really looks like there’s blue there to me…which makes me think emerald peacock but the eyes and stones are wrong for that one…are my eyes deceiving me or did someone switch out some eyes and stones?
I’m sure the affect is caused by the flash on the person’s camera. The eyes and gems should be a deep red and they look washed out, especially the eyes, which look more deep orange than the deeper red. Artificial lighting will also affect the final color of the subject.
When I take photos of any items I want to post, I try to photograph my subjects in natural light if I can, I keep my flash off, and then work with the exposure and brightness/contrast settings in PhotoShop on my image for this very reason. I found that doing this offsets any color or ‘bleaching’ issues the flash could give the subject by adjusting the settings to bring the picture of my item closer to it’s more realistic colors.
