I’m with you Arlla, I would prefer ones like the production white, with gold hair, versus the deep yellows on the Sun. A little too buttery for me too. 😉

I would think, for Melody, that part of the “fun” is not having to paint anything in particular – just pick colors and everything depending on mood and what might be neat to do. Try new things.

Good point! Poor Melody. Mostly I just thought it would be a fun poll, to see what everyone likes, since it’s always so different. 🙂 And to see what the “universal favorite” seems to be. I’m curious!

What I’m tired of is the overcompetitive behavior and dibs-calling among members that’s escalated with this newest, hottest batch. It’s taken a lot of the fun out of the whole thing. If a one-per limit helps that, if not posting the batch photos beforehand helps that, so much the better, but enough is enough.
I just want these things to be fun. 🙁
I don’t think the big picture should be removed instead I propose an idea that came to me earlier…
perhaps Melody could make several of each color to make the chances a little more likely that people have a chance to get the one they want…I’m not saying put the batch out the with more in them, just giving us a few more of each color in a batch so people aren’t trying to get that “one” that they know they only have one chance at and it’s not a likely chance at all and or buying more to get that “one”…
And if there was a poll, you’d have a SCIENTIFIC BREAKDOWN of color demand! [nerd.]
…and as much as the group photo is fun to look at to get yourself all psyched up about the new batches, eliminating it is probably a good idea in the future. It is really fun seeing them all together though when they all get ready to go into the store and I would like to think we are all mature enough to be able to see it and not loose our minds so I’m really 50/50 I guess on that one. ^_^
I feel the same way, I LOVE seeing the big batch photos together, because then I can see which ones I have a chance at, but it’s awkward watching the frenzy it seems to cause with people trying to get their dibs in. :/ 50-50 for sure.
Hey, we should do a poll! Make a list of the colors that have been done and see what’s liked the best. And have an “other” if you want to enter in one that’s not been done yet.

I’ll have a go–I don’t have too high of hopes of getting one of the 25 who have yet to be restocked, so if anyone is feeling like selling one of theirs I would be happy to buy one!
I like lots of pieces, except pinto ones, so if you have a solid or an appy that you don’t like I would love to hear from ya. 😉
I’ll see what I can do in the trade forum re: many grab bag unicorn threads. I regret that I will unintentionally ‘bump’ many topics in doing so– everyone that has an active sales or trade thread that is NOT related to the grab bag unicorns may bump their thread one time, just this once, since I am doing this. I am trying to keep things happy and fun. 🙂

Perhaps eliminating the “group photo” would cut down on the angst. A notice that the new batch has crazy colors and sparkles would be enough to grab peoples’ interest. No photo means no chance for people to fall in love and be disappointed, since they wouldn’t be able to see all the possibilities in advance.
I can’t believe no one has thought of this yet, but I think you hit the nail on the head. Not till the photos are posted do people start getting attached and competitive. What about, in the future, having something more like the store photo? With a sampling of the colors instead of showing every piece. I really really really love seeing all the new babies that I have a possibility of getting before purchasing, but these advance photos are TOO effective at hyping the pieces I guess….
I think people just really fall in love with certain ones and want to feel like they did _everything_ to try for that special piece. So it is kind of understandable, but it’s just happening too much when people are getting uncomfortable to post photos of their babies.
If I posted a pic and said “I really would like to keep this one, so no PMs please”, and still got PMs, I’d just ignore/delete them if I didn’t want to deal with it. Sender feels like they did everything they could at least, recipient chooses if they want to read or not.

They already did a white with gold hair run on ebay 1-10 but I would DIE for a Turquoise one!!!

I have been craving a White Oriental family forever. I think they’d be a perfect store color to commemorate their big return!

They have 3d printers that can scan an object and reproduce it with a plastic composite.
I imagine the technology allows for minor adjustments in scale.
I also imagine it’s astronomically expensive….

I agree that it’s become a bit out of hand.
I too am tired of seeing multiple threads of people wanting to buy or trade, trying to out-bump each other on the Sell/Trade forums. I can’t even keep my sale thread on the first page and I’m not going to over-bump it and be rude.
Seems a little simpler to work together and post them in one thread, that way someone who wants to trade a piece can look through one thread instead of having to search them all out. Shoot, if I had a Uni from this batch to trade that’s what I would find easiest…
The limits on these were put in place right in the middle of April. I’d advise Windstone to see if there was a rash of new accounts created then. I don’t think there is an army of people out there cheating the limit system. A bad apple or two can ruin the fun for everyone.
And as much as I’d love to have two Unis from this beautiful crazy-colors batch, I have to admit that making the limit ONE PER ORDER will give more people a chance at purchasing one.
And I hope that those who have multiples, maybe consider selling versus just trading, and let someone who hasn’t gotten any in on the fun. 🙂 I know I will in the future, if I ever get another GB Baby.
And if you don’t want to sell your Uni, I hope you’ll still post pictures along with a mention of “I do not wish to sell/trade”, and simply delete PMs that you get from people who insist on saying “Oh, but surely that didn’t apply to me, because I want it so much.” No one would fault you for that and it irks me to see members go into hiding over this.
Remember…. it was supposed to be FUN!!!!!
