Heh, well, I am not bidding on that one. 😉 I love plum but not chartreuse! I like the contrast on that Sun though, an awful lot.

Oh YES, the blues! Both fantasy and non-fantasy, everyone seemed to want the blue Unis. Blue roans or sapphire metallic, yay blue!

I am more concerned about the tar that would be on a piece from possible smoke exposure, as opposed to the smell.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about tar. I bought a white male pegasus from a smoker, and it was so caked in smoke residue that it looked beige. But all it took was a five minute scrub with a soft cloth dampened with warm water to restore it to pristine white.

What Bullsquid said. 🙂 There was tar on mine also, but I gave my DP Oriental a good cleaning with brush, soft cloth, and warm water and all of it came off.

I did this with a white Fledgie I bought also, who came from a smoking home. He had yellowed, but with a gentle cleaning, he matched a non-tar-stained White Lap. So even on a White dragon they come pretty clean!

I am not as sure about plastics though. You are right to be cautious there!

As a PYO noob myself, does anyone have a good brand recommendation for Acrylic retarder/blender?

The closest thing I have found is a watercolor blender, and I’m only somewhat happy with how it works.

Brand/Product names would be a huge help!! Thanks!

KP, in the Quests forum, one of the Quests was for members to make their own PYO tutorials, and they were great to watch! Dragonfeathers’ and KoishiiKitty’s were my two faves, but they were all wonderful! I got some great tips watching them!

Regarding the violet–I bought the very first red-eyed CP Oriental Dragons, and ended up finding a happy home for them because they just never grew on me. BUT, when this new version came out, with more copper and purple, I snapped them up! I liked these so much better.

….and then was a little disappointed because the Adult and Young I got from this new batch don’t have even a quarter of the violet that the store photo shows. Love the copper highlights and amount of patina, but miss that violet.

So yais, more violet! It was a selling point on this color for me. 🙂

(Edit–If anyone has a pair with lots of violet and prefers them the other way, I’m down to trade! Seems like everyone likes the violet though.)

So exciting!!! I am just dying for a solid green/blue like Kelpie. She seemed to be a ubiquitous favorite in the last batch….If there are a couple like that in this new batch I will totally try for one. 🙂

Fresh air and time seem to work wonders for pieces that smell of smoke. I bought a Dark Peacock Oriental that came to me smelling as if it literally had had an ashtray dumped on it. Yucky!

After being on my shelf for about 2 months you can stick your nose against the felt, and not smell smoke even if you try. 🙂

I don’t mind more excuses to keep him. I can see myself easily becoming a Windstone collector someday when I have the spare $.

Famous last words, heehee! Welcome! Windstones are known to be quite addictive. 😉

I’d suggest the little paper and string tags you see on jewelry and small flea market items. Most craft stores should carry them. You can loop the string around the tag, and remove them at any time. That way your labeling won’t risk damaging your pieces!

                        Win! 😀 Great idea!

Hmmm… the Male has damage on his wing, and the Mother on her front claws, and it looks like they were painted gold after that happened. And the overspray on the felt you mentioned. And anywhere the gold has rubbed, or on the bottoms of the statues, and a couple thin spots in the gold paint, looks like they used to be peacocks underneath. Also there doesn’t seem to be any antiquing or other accent colors.

I would guess that they’re repaints… Could be wrong though.

I feel so awful for anyone who gets migraines.

                              Except this one time….

My very best girlfriend brought down her boyfriend for 4th of July once. I never liked having him as a guest. He was rude. Rude things he did at my home on this particular 4th:

                              – He became morally offended that there was cat hair on the cat’s sleeping mat in the corner (can’t make this up), wouldn’t stop pestering me about cleaning it until I finally did just to shut him up.

                              – Wouldn’t go outside because there “were too many ***holes out there”

                              – Complained about the brand of beer we bought

                              – Wouldn’t eat a hamburger because he only likes hot dogs. I knew this, and when shopping for the party purchased a pack of hot dogs just for him. He didn’t like the hot dogs I bought. He only eats TURKEY dogs. Made his girlfriend WALK TO THE STORE (forget driving, no parking) ON THE 4TH OF JULY just for turkey dogs. He wouldn’t eat what she brought back. Why? She brought back a pack of turkey sausages. For grilling. “I don’t eat sausage.” After some disagreement she had to walk BACK to the store. Brought back a pack of turkey dogs by the same brand. The only difference? Wasn’t size. Wasn’t appearance. Ingredients were the same and listed in the same order. These just said “turkey dogs” instead of “turkey sausage.” That’s it.

                              – Later he gets a migraine. It’s 4th of July. It’s loud. I find this guy insufferable but I don’t want him to suffer. Offered that he should lie down in the back bedroom, because it’s nice and dim and quiet there. He wouldn’t get off the couch in the noisy living room and wouldn’t stop complaining about his head. The kicker? He had migraine medicine in his car. HE WOULDN’T LET HIS GIRLFRIEND WALK TO THEIR CAR AND GET IT FOR HIM. After 30 minutes of her trying to convince him to take his damn medicine, and watching this whole stupid scene, I finally grabbed her and we went and enjoyed ourselves outside and left him to be miserable.

                              No words.

What made me maddest was watching her try so hard to please this man-child. Had to really flex my acting skills when she told me she broke up with him.

XD Unnecessarily long anecdotes kill boredom right?

Do you mean a complete repaint, or a repair of the damaged paint?

Complete repaints (where you change the original paint of the dragon to look like a completely different scheme) are actually a bit of a legal issue for Windstone Editions and gently discouraged. It’s a sensitive topic.

The good news is, if your Emperor just has some damage on his chest, there are people on this forum who are just masterful at repairs! They can make your dragon look brand new. 🙂

I’ll buy ANY Oriental Dragons, but oh man would I love to see Indigo become the “production Blue” that people have been wanting. I think that Indigo would be perfect. <3

I love the turqoise also, but I wish he had more contrast on his fur, rather than being monochromatic. The different colored fur on the other schemes just seems to work perfectly and gives the piece more life, IMO. 😉
