I was wondering what kind of paints people use to do the PYO? I haven’t done any ceramic type painting in.. well.. forever. Haha, I don’t even know if I stand a chance at making one look good, lol. I’d be starting with brush painting, if that turns out well I will then look into learning how to airbrush..

Any and all advice is welcomed! Thank You!

        There’s a tutorial here: http://windstoneeditions.com/sites/default/files/pyo_tutorial.pdf

There’s also quite a bit of information in the stickies of the Paint Your Own section.

And the more experienced artists (of which I’m not) are usually happy to answer questions. 🙂

I use acrylics. Some mix it with a retarder, I use use a little bit of water to avoid streaks as much as possible.

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

As a PYO noob myself, does anyone have a good brand recommendation for Acrylic retarder/blender?

The closest thing I have found is a watercolor blender, and I’m only somewhat happy with how it works.

Brand/Product names would be a huge help!! Thanks!

KP, in the Quests forum, one of the Quests was for members to make their own PYO tutorials, and they were great to watch! Dragonfeathers’ and KoishiiKitty’s were my two faves, but they were all wonderful! I got some great tips watching them!
