Well, it depends on your tolerance and living situation.
Sun conures are LOUD! If you live in an apartment and you’re prone to headaches it’s no bueno. They are also bigger then an average ‘starter bird’. Sometimes handfed babies are oh so sweet and cuddly, then they change and will bite and be nasty. The bigger the bird, the bigger the beak, and they HURT!
I would recommend a parrotlet or a green cheek conure. They’re little clowns, and are big parrots trapped in little bird bodies. They screech sometimes, but it’s not nearly as loud as a sun. A parrotlet can live up to 40 years and a conure lives to be about 25.
Your conure is so cute, Wampus!
This is Jinx, my green cheek conure. I got him from Petco, after going in for 2 weeks straight and admiring him. I convinced my husband three years ago that I wanted him for an anniversary present. 🙂 When we went to go pick him up, the sales associate stuck his hand in the cage and tried to grab Jinx, so of course Jinx flipped out and started biting. He flew out of the cage and landed on my shoe. I bent down and offered him a finger to “step up” and he did immediately. The guy was like “HOW DID YOU DO THAT? That bird has the nickname ‘Demon’ around here. He’s evil.” Noooo, you just have no idea what you’re doing. 😛
Here’s my baby. He knows quite a few tricks and I enjoy his company immensely. Sorry the video is sideways. :/
Wow! That’s an excellent find! Congrats!!!
I love its coloring!!! Too cute! Grats, Kiya!
Yay!!!! Can’t wait to see pics!!
Kiya! Did you convince your husband that you MUST open yours today? ;3
Actually, yes! Apparently falling down and spraining my shoulder, burning myself twice while cooking dinner, breaking the rice cooker because I was trying to do too many things at once, and having a major crisis in school was enough to make him decide I needed a Poad to cheer me up.
However, now I feel kind of guilty so it’s just sitting on the counter, in its box…
Ack! Hope you’re feeling better! A pretty poad might help too!
