Those are the CURLS or Curlies or Curled Dragons like you have in your signature. Good luck and I’ll watch for you. Reminder that though some may be up on ebay selling for more than retail, the ones that are Out Of Stock in the store here, are supposed to have more batches done in time. If they discontinued it altogether, the photo and info wouldnt even be there at all (such as we no longer see the white, emerald pea, russet, etc).

I know, i thought to check my sig. AFTER I posted πŸ™„ I like both molds, but the wee little ones are more in my wee little budget haha.

So all the out of stocks should someday be offered again? that’s great. I asked them to put me on the list for a silver, and a pink. Still bummed I sold all the first ones that came out, wish we’d have sold something else but oh well. I’ll get them again someday I’m sure πŸ˜€
I noticed too after I posted my initial message about what was what, that you had a curl in your sig. Thanks for not calling me out on that saying, “yo, stupid. I know which is which as I have a curl in my sig with a saying that shows I know it’s a curl!” πŸ˜€

Yes, from my understanding and experience, when it says Out of Stock, but still appear in the store with info and pic (or just info), there will be more batches. Windstone has helped up out in understanding what will never be for sale again but taking the listing completely out of the store so we dont even see or think about it anymore. Hence, the reason why you do not see the Out of Stock White Curl or EmPea Curl or Russet Red Flame curl, etc. The ones that you see remaining should be painted again, restocked (likely to go fast in newer colors such as silver, pink, etc). Plus, the addition of the NEW colors of curls we havent seen yet but are coming eventually.

When they restock the Golds, BGs or older colored curls currently out of stock, those will likely sell slower since they only recently sold out for XMas. New ones will be gobbled up fast and you have to be in the right place at the right time. But, with new colors like silver, there are sure to be several batches painted and since I think they are doing Silver as a production color, is not likely to be retired anytime soon.

Of course, as you know, lonely ole Emerald color curls are still available to tie you over! πŸ˜€

At the moment,, I thought I read somewhere that the Coiled molds have a snag in them which is why they are on hold right now. Dont know what the problem is but Melody did say something somewhere some time ago that the reason no new colored coileds have been offered is due to casting issues for the time being. But, that theyd come around again. Probably restocking the BGs, and new colors to match the newer curls.

Can’t call you stupid when I screwed up the title, AND have the right one in my sig 😯 πŸ™„ haha.

I have to laugh, in hind sight, wish I’d have kept the white one. I had all the first ones when I had to sell off, and I kept my two favorites (Emerald and black gold) I think dollar value had something to do with who sold as well, but the BG is by far my fav. one so far, but I really liked the white as well. Since I see now I can still get the emerald, makes me wish I’d have sold him haha. Oh well, it’ll all work out.

I’m anxious to see what new colors they come up with. I really like the silvers, and I”m not a pink fan, but the little pink one I saw on eBay was cute. I think white with blue trim would be nice too, instead of the gold trim. They could really go nuts with white ones with different trims…..reds, rainbows, blues, greens…. πŸ˜€

I thought when I saw (the first pic) WOW, wish Windstone would release that dragon 😯 I think he looked really cool in the first pic, til I saw that he was the peacock, then I thought “wow, that’s a horrible picture”. here I thought I stumbled across something really unique haha. (glad you guys are around, I came rushing to see if anyone had posted him!)

The bay may look lumpy cause your paint is too thin. It’s especially easy to see the discoloration in the darker paints. Maybe use a bit thicker paint?

Yes, painting by hand is hard! I have an airbrush, but I’m too afraid to use it! All the cleaning required when changing colors or putting it away for the night. Now that’s a pain! I’m a lazy slob. If I have to buy new brushes every couple sculptures is ok. But I’m not diciplined enough to take care of the airbrush πŸ˜†

HA! I got a chuckle out of that last part πŸ˜†

I’d have never thought my paint was to THIN. I think I thinned it down to less than skim milk, thinking 100 light layer would be better than 5 “semi” thick ones.

My husband made me promise not to cheat on these and go use my AB. What a weenie. πŸ™„

I bought an airbrush once someone didn’t clean too well, and ended up putting $100 of new parts into it. I bought it through eBay, and ended up getting a full refund since I was buying it as “well taken care of”, and it was so messed up the peices all kind of glued together. I had to soak it for about a week to get stuff loose enough to break the needle to get it out. What a nightmare. It still doesn’t work quite right, but it’s good enough I suppose. So yeah, if ya don’t clean it, don’t use it hee hee.

I like the patterns you’re using.
I have to constantly go over the paint to smooth out the color on the unicorns I do. They usually end up getting darker than I imagined, but I like sooty colors over normal bays and chestnuts.
So I would say keep going over it until you can’t see the discoloration on the bay.

I still haven’t been able to find a palamino/buckskin shade of paint I’m happy with.
    Yours looks great.

I can’t really see where the drybrushing is, but does look like the highlights come through. So you’re doing a great job!

I usually hate the unicorns I paint until they’re finished! So just keep them going!

(at the risk of sounding like a snob) I’m so used to painting something with an airbrush, and it not looking awful, painting by hand is a real… 😯

I have a lot more admiration for folks who paint everything by hand. Hail to them.

I think the patterns aren’t bad. I actually almost like the palomino’s color. I haven’t dry brushed her, but somehow that happened?? So I’m thinking maybe I’ll skip over trying to drybrush that one, I might just move along to the shading, and then white markings πŸ˜€

The bay looks “lumpy” uneven color, even with thin paint.
I am blown away that anyone can do this on a regular basis. I’m gonna keep trying. I hope these two turn out, that would be encouraging πŸ™„

This is patches. I have painted some of the white in, but haven’t made the brown and white edges meet yet. I wanted the brown parts to be totally finished first. I don’t really like this one much, honestly. I think the brown looks sloppy. πŸ˜₯

in reply to: Dry Brushing Details #657820

Ok, you have to be nice πŸ˜€

This is Sunshine. I just blocked her pattern, I haven’t done anything to the white. I wanted to get the brown finished and sealed before I did any white. She’s actually a nice color, she needs some shading, sorry if she looks weird yellow, she looked ok on my screen. She’s a palomino tovero.

Kachina had a good point. Wipe on a paper towel or something until the paint barely comes off.
I get impatient as well and mine start off really cool, and then I add a little more paint and then you can see the lines of the paint from the brush. Then I have to start over.

I let them dry overnight, and I tried again. I think they STINK. I’m so bummed. I am trying to download pix right now, but so far none really turned out. They just didn’t get the effect I was going for. I tried almost no paint on the brush, but I didn’t really see any difference on the horse. This is defiantly something that’ll take a while for me (I’m a slow learner 😳 )

in reply to: Dry Brushing Details #657817

Thank you both. I think I’ll try again tomorrow. I think part of the issue was that I am sort of impatient, and they may not have been DRY. They weren’t wet to the touch, but the paint came off really easy with my finger, so of course the brush took it off. πŸ˜• So I am going to seal them (they’re dry now) and play again tomorrow with them. I dig them, I’ll see if I can get a good picture to post.

I know there’s stuff about how to antique and dry brush. I’m not very good at finding stuff, I’m actually not sure how to search so I just flipped through old postings. I have the Windstone article open, and I’ve read it about 4 times in the last 2 minuets. But, alas, this is my first time trying, and my horse’s neck keeps looking muddy.

I’m doing 2 Unicorns, both pinto’s, first time I’ve ever hand painted anything. I’m sure I”m doing something very wrong. I just wanted to get that effect where the top of the hiar is lighter than by the skin, but instead I’m loosing some of the layers of paint when I carefully remove the (thinned paint I’m using to antique).

So, do I need to seal the finish first? Is the paint I’m applying too thin? It did say use thick paint, and when I tried to brush that off, the horse looked scratched.

    Thanks! πŸ˜€

I want to say, he is very pretty, blue pony! I love his blue interference and his depth of color ranges in the browns and tans of his body.

I also like the marble backdrop you’ve got him against πŸ˜† if you need to take more pictures before your photo set up arrives, I recommend using the same spot! πŸ™‚ It shows his colors nicely

Thank you for your comments! His wings don’t glow quite that much, that’s the flash, but they do have a nice sheen.

I actually plan to use that cloth, but in my photo box once it gets here. I like it too, but the fact that that picture turned otu was just luck 😯

No worries, I have two more wolves coming from Windstone (he’s my fav of all of them, no doubt). So I’ll post them when they are done, maybe you’ll like them more. I want to do a dragon like this wolf too, think that’d be cute?

I think that would be very cute. Can’t wait to see pics.

Like 6 months ago. I am pregnant, and didn’t touch anything for about 4 months (smells really bugged me) so I totally dropped everything. Now that I can paint again, had to order more PYO’s and start selling older stuff πŸ˜€
