I hate the 10 days thing. It should be less. 5 at most even.

And the ‘wait for someone to help’ thing isnt reasonable if you need to sell something for funds now. The economy isnt exactly kind at the moment. And if someone is selling for a reason(lost job, rent, etc) and suddenly cant update their thread, they should be able to make another one. The forums glitchiness isnt their fault. So they shouldnt have to wait on a mod to fix it when im sure a mod has bigger issues to handle.

On the one occassion I had problems editing my thread, I pm’d Jen, and within a day we had the problem worked out. If a situation is so desperate it can’t wait a day or two to fix, then selling stuff here isn’t going to make much of a difference.

I do agree that perhaps we need another mod or two, and there are plenty of people who are on here a lot who may be willing to take on that job. It certainly would help the mods that are here feel less overwhelmed, like poor Jen did.

Oh boy. I’m almost sorry I started this discussion, but really, The flea market has to be organized somehow, because as it is, it not real easy to use. And I do know how to use search function, but the problem arises with all the multiple threads for the same person with many of the same items, or old threads where something was for sale, and is now long sold. Makes it very hard if not impossible to find items you are looking for.

I understand both the way John is saying, and the way others are saying. I am on a huge doll forum with an even bigger marketplace (I’m talking something like 10,000 active members!) And we’ve tried both ways. And both ways work! But the biggest thing we’ve learned over many years is that the people who make the threads have a responsibility to take care of their threads!
1.)If it is sold, mark it SOLD! If the transaction is complete, item at a new home, “graveyard” the thread (where it is put in a seperate archive that can be accessed if needed, but no longer clutters up the marketplace.)
2.)There really shouldn’t be any conversations on sales threads, only bumps, status changes, or additional information if needed. Conversations on sales threads are only confusing. And if you’re looking for something you want to buy, post it in your WTB thread. If someone has one for sale, they can either contact you as a result of you WYB thread, or put the item up FS and you can contact them. We’ve already got tons of places in the forum for conversations!
3.) Everyone only needs 2 threads: one FS and one WTB.
4.) Subforums are great, i.e. hoofers, dragons, etc, but ONLY if it won’t cause a bigger hassle for the forum admins and mods.

Finally, and as a side note I’ve heard that a lot of people say they have had problems with pm’s. I never have on Windstone, either the new forum, or the old one. And alerts always come to my email inbox letting me know I have a pm, so I don’t miss them either. Not sure why so many others have problems.

I have, however, had problems with editing certain posts, so I know where that’s a frustration, but was also able to pm a mod, and get the post/or thread fixed, etc.

Also note, I’m female, and I can’t stand the clutter! There has to be a way we can all agree on to fix this! It took me over an hour one day searching through old threads for an item, only to find that the 2 pages of search results, all the items were either long sold, or double or triple posts!

I do like the idea of archiving old threads, and maybe just everyone limiting their threads to 1 FS thread, and 1 WTB thread? And maybe limit comments on threads to only questions about the items, or letting the person know you messaged them? And maybe make it that you can bump once every 2-3 days instead of every ten?

Would anybody care if we just took the older threads and moved them into hiding? I don’t think that anyone really needs to dig back through most of the posts. Or do they?

That would be awesome. As I said, it’s gotten to the point where it’s really impossible to search the FS forum.

On another forum I am basically when a thread is done, we mark in the title “done” or “please delete” or “graveyard” which is where the mods put old threads to save them, while at the same time keeping them out of the marketplace.

As for the store stuff, where susie puts her annoucements maybe that’s all they should be? Just announcements, and not discussions? And they only get bumped up if the items goes back into the store?

I love the rainbow glitter! I’m so happy Melody made them. I only managed to get the Lady cat. Will have to wait for the fat cat to come back in stock. But hubby won’t let me have until X-mas! WAh!

Definetly sounds like an abcess. Have had at least three kitties turn up with the same issue. It’s nasty!

And the desicated mouse wasn’t even the worst “dead critter” issue I’ve had….lots of cats over the years means lots of dead things…or not quite dead. Last spring they brought a live mole into the house. The dog started playing with it in my kitchen! And then we realized it wasn’t dead yet! Yech!
And rabbits…and snakes under the bed…dead rats on the bed…a live flying squirrel once….boy I’ve certainly seen a lot…you’d think I’d be less squeamish about the dead ones!

also, i know it’s not a rule, but it’s horribly confusing to search the marketplace because rather than people just updating their old threads, they post completely new threads of stuff they want/are selling. So it’s rather impossible to find what is still available, what people are still looking for, etc. I asked once but was told that Windstone can’t delete the old threads, because they might need to be used as a reference?

Graahh! I ordered those eyes from Tohickan on the 20th, and they just shipped them this Monday and now they’re “delayed at the origin hub”?! UPS!!! >:0 *foams at the mouth*

I ordered some special eyes from another company when the swap 1st started, and after several delays, they supposedly shipped, and naturally were lost in the mail. Since it took all this time just to finish them, I knew they’d never be done in time for the swap, so I had to send my piece with the normal eyes. So disappointed!

ok, I have some old clay jugs from the 17 and 1800’s in my house, gifts from my parents. One of them is really pretty, has a narrow opening, and a round belly, so you can’t see in side. Now, I don’t know why I decided to do this, but I picked the jug up and shook it yesterday. There was something inside! Figuring my 3 year old son had dropped something in, I turn the jug upside down. A magnetic letter, and my husband’s missing pocketknife fall out…should’ve stopped there…shook it again. Something’s stuck inside! Reached into the mouth of the opening, and pulled out…a mummified mouse corpse! AAAHHH! Now normally, i’m pretty level headed about gross things, but this time I jumped about yelling until my roomate came in, and he picked the mouse up and threw it out. Yuck! And then I started to feel bad about the poor mouse, who must’ve fallen in there, and died with no way out…sigh.

I love the sparkles. Is a moon dragon just a reversed sun dragon? Very pretty. Good luck everyone!

I shipped mine! But it’s going to Canada, so it might take a bit.

Hmmm…my friend brings Kinder Eggs from Germany for us all the time…
Oh, and they also have ice wine in germany, so I don’t think it’s just a canadian thing…
