Thanks for the compliments guys πŸ˜€ It makes it even more worthwhile getting the kind comments from others πŸ˜‰

@ Ela_Hara I would really love to do a swap with you guys eventually, I just dont think Im quite ready yet, plus with my first PYO’s, I really would rather keep them for memories sake. After I have a few under my belt, then I do hope to be able to join in on a swap! Does the swap decide on a specific sculpt or is it anyone a person wishes to contribute?

I was initially scared to death to start this guy, but after some trial and error, I realized these guys are hard to totally mess up, and if you dont like a color, just paint over it, LOL ! The many tips and helpful advice given by others helped tremendously as well.

I have a Kirin and a keeper dragon to work on next, and just ordered a Kitsune to! So I have lots to keep me busy… which one will I work on next? I really dont know yet, lol ! But Im looking forward to it !

So I really accomplished a lot lately, and am quite happy with my first PYO !! Please note the following pics are off some color wise, as the lighting wasnt the best. The metallic colors present are hard to pick up, like the hair for instance. Its actually a yellow-gold color, and the pics just dont do this guy justice. I still have to apply the sealant and glue in his eyes… but I just had to post some pics !!

So here he is, meet Mr Boomkin the Muse !! (He reminds me of a character from World Of Warcraft I used to play as hence the name Boomkin, lol )

Ok, I have to admit I love the ideas on the Holiday themed Grab Bags! Halloween ! YES !! Please ! *SQUEAK!*

And I was just even thinking the other day, have there ever been any Windstones produced as Christmas Ornaments? One that could even be hung on the Tree !? Now that would be awesome ! (I was browsing ebay today trying to find dragon related ornaments for the tree, and found very little- and what I did find was disappointing)

Also, I know lots of Windstone Collectors love the cute Baby-Hatching-Fledgling Dragons, but I myself dont really care so much for them. They are nice and all, but Im not going out of my way to collect that style sculpt. What I really prefer are the dragons who look older, mature, and serious. The Male and Mother dragons have my favorite style head shape- a longer larger head. The smaller pointy snout on dragons just makes them look like immature baby dragons- cute and all, But ……what I would like to see is a new sculpt with the more mature head, the longer less pointy style- like the Mother/Male dragons have. And to make it insanely cool, a new dragon sculpt that actually looks angry, like with a lip curl or snarl, or a teeth baring grimace to warn off intruders who wish to steal their treasures…… πŸ˜› Guess Im wishing for a dragon with some attitude … *squeak* … or *growl* should I say? LOL!

Wow…. these are all so so pretty !! I really didnt expect these to look so amazing, but they are really drawing me in. And even though Im not a big cat fan…. I do prefer dragons… well…. I couldn’t help myself , I done did it and ordered one !! ( I had thought they were all sold out ! )

Thanks everyone for posting these pics, you made me spend some money! LOL ! (I will post pics when she arrives, *hehehe* )

Im totally loving the “RAINBOW ASAGI” ORIENTAL MOON DRAGON TEST PAINT #1 BY PATRICIA , the colors are just so natural looking…. and they keep drawing me in. I cant stop admiring it ! I been hoping to get in on the bidding, but it is getting a tad outta my price range πŸ™

I do have a base coat. Plus this was an area I was having some issues with anyways, and the gold is painted over another few layers of color, as an accent to edges of large scales. Personally, I think its just the fact that its gold, and is harder to get that shiny smooth gold look from. Plus its over top of layers of other paint that also did not appear to be so nice and smooth.. lol!

This is my first PYO… and I know Im learning as I go πŸ˜‰ I have progressed more, and have more pics to post, if I ever get around to it, lol! πŸ™‚

So, there can be up to 10 differences, but no more than 10 total ?

So I been working with Golden Fluid paint- in iridescent gold (fine) and I cant seem to get it nice and smooth looking. It looks lumpy and uneven, and thats with 2 coats now. Any suggestions? Should I try mixing a medium in so it goes on smoother?

Thanks for all the recent tips! I like the idea of metallics, but dont have any yet. Maybe someday I will invest in some. For now I been adding some iridescent medium to my colors, and this has been giving me a nice sheen effect.

I have added a green mixed with iridescent medium over the black scales (that were previously messed up) and they look kinda good now πŸ™‚ I have progressed quite a bit on him lately, and will try to post some new pics in the next week or so, when I have some more time.

    in reply to: Snow! #917911

Snow !! Lucky you !! I LOVE the snow ! Cant wait to get some this year, hope to get some half decent amounts as I got my own pair of downhill skis last year, and only got to go on one ski trip so far with them. Last winter we actually had TWO snow days, where it stormed so bad that work shut down for the day and I got to stay home, got paid, and got to enjoy the beautiful snow ! πŸ™‚ And where I work, it has never shut down because of a snow storm in over 30 years from what Im told, so last year was an odd one !

Fall is my favorite time of year though, the cool crisp air, the fall colors, no more bugs tying to suck your blood, lol ! Just cool enough where you can get away with a light jacket or a sweater and dont have to bundle up too much… and then there is Halloween !!! What more can you ask for ?? πŸ™‚

Its been a muggy sticky summer so far… yuck. Last week its been cooling off, and you can feel fall heading this way ! It will be such a relief… I get so uncomfortable and cranky in the sticky heat…

in reply to: I finally got my first Windstone Dragon !! #917811

CONGRATULATIONS that is one of my favorite colors and that one looks perfect

    Thank you !

OK, here is a update :

Been adding some more color, layers, a bit at a time. Added a lighter orange over the darker orange on the feathers to create a more natural look, and I liked the outcome. Added Black to the scaled area on the belly, and more purple to the curvy scales to try and darken it some– but Im finding the streaky look there is hard to get rid of. Painted the fur/hair areas yellow to start that off. Added more green to the scales above the wing, to darken them and try and cover streaky looks…. also finding this area hard to work with. Oh, and seem to be getting little dabs of paint in areas I didnt intend it to be…. any tips on removing this, or covering it up?

Then things went wrong…… I added more green, then a light layer of black to try and cover the streaky look…. didnt look right, tried to whipe the black off.. and made an awful mess !!! Acck ! So then I tried to remove all the paint in this area so I can redo it. What a mess I made !! I used a damp sponge to try and rub this off… Im guessing this is NOT the way to do this properly? Any tips on how I should have done this to avoid the mess I made ? πŸ™ I now have random spots of the green paint I tried to remove over other areas of my Muse… πŸ™ I could cry πŸ™

Also added a dry brushing of grey over the black scales to try and give them some depth, as I found the black just made the whole area one big black blob with no detail. (Not sure if I did the dry brushing the right way? But I dont think it turned out too bad… just a tad lighter than I wanted)

Added a tad more detail to the feathers… now I think I liked them better before I painted the center spine of each feather a darker color… ugh… messed up by trying to add too much detail.. they do say sometimes less is more. :/

Added more purple to these scales… just find these hard to cover up properly… wondering what steps to take next here to make these look better?

Today I painted that mess that used to be green, black as a base coat…. not sure how this will work out now. I would still like to make these green, but not sure how to make this show up over the black…

This is definitely a learning process ! Any tips would be appreciated πŸ™‚

in reply to: Ebay seller sent me the WRONG dragon …. #917775

I messaged the seller again, and asked them if they would consider giving me a good deal on the BG Mother, the one I had originally wanted. And even though I already left them good feedback, they still wanted to compensate for their error and told me they would love to give me a deal! They said to go ahead and place an offer on the BG Mother as they had just relisted it, and they said they would accept it, no problem! And they did not specify how low I should go !

They were asking $125 this time for her (was $105 last time). I initially offered $75 for her the first time, which was accepted… so since this was supposed to be a better deal, I offered $65, and they accepted within seconds of me offering this πŸ™‚ I told them I was going to offer $50, but that I did not want to go too low as it didnt seem right, so I offered $65. They replied back to me and thanked me for this, and said they would try to get the right one in the box this time! πŸ™‚

It is nice to have such nice people to deal with, those that go the extra mile. Its like a breath of fresh air ! There are just so many nasty unfriendly people out there…. its a pleasant surprise when a decent soul is encountered πŸ™‚ The sellers name is auction-victoria , located in BC Canada. They do have a few more Windstones, if anyone is interested. And they all have “make an offer” as bidding options. They are great to deal with πŸ™‚
