*big kitty eyes*
I’m in Europe!
I do not own a single windstone yet (in da works) but I do dragon art 🙂
any chance to see a pic of the guy?Cards out, maybe you’ll get it tomorrow 🙂 if you want it bigger, I can make prints of the original size in A4 🙂
As for “small guy” when I get all datas resorted I will forward you the book files, officially the dragons never that small, that was just my own symbolism, officially he’s as big as really big truck. Wings all folded and such.
all floofy with a huuuge maneInkspell got translated? cool 🙂
I was not quite fond of the end. Bway, number 2 is out, Tintenblut (Inklbood, Inkspell was Tintenherz in German AKA Inkheart).
hmmm… must try audios, I liked them as a kid but at some point I got a really horrible example that imprinted into my brain/ears and made me stop trying it. Gonna check audible 🙂the card or a sample of it (think glitter stars) is “hidden” here:

finish writing my novelSigh… that was my resolution last year, and I never did it. Instead I started another one. D’oh!
My resolution is to not make any resolutions.
hehe… its my resolution since 1995…. heheh… yes I am slow… but its a loooooooooooooong book, with many twisting plots and critterzoids.
Even a group of betas that poke the needle in my butt every once in a while for continuation cant really help. All I know is that artist/freelancer and bookwriter dont really go hand in hand. Especially if you dont use your book artwork for the market (who would) and you keep believing the freelance molah is good for the day of publishing.
Oh well, see you here next year? shall we note down our word count? which I not really can as I am “reworking”…CLOSED!
Its that time of the year again!
Anyone interested in a card exchange?
my card goes out with a bookmark this time, the WIP can be seen somewhere in my scribbling thread.
This card goes out to you by anti-virtual mailing 🙂regards
Aky
Edit: if you wish for a card either reply here or go via akeyla at gmx dot ch

as every year, though this year I really hope for it to get to an end:
finish writing my noveldohhh,… those. ohgreat. But you were there first. I’ve seen many dragons being the dracomic critter freakazoid lover I am, but feathered membranes? Thats something I only saw on your works.
And of course we could start a whole evolution war of whose dragon was here first now, and two horns are stereotype, but the feathered head? the pointy curved hornes and the thick neck? that isnt what you could really call your everyday dragonheartcrocodileD&D dragon. ahhh… bookmarked the antishurtugal, must read in a calm minute 🙂
I read the second book cause I got it as a xmas gift and was curios concerning paolini and his age. Finished it then cause I hoped it would get better (I admit, I liked the begining). Last christmas I was gifted with both the english and german “Eldest” cause it had just become a fad round here. I think I read ten pages of the english one and then gave it away…
oh I’m bad tonight 🙂 Usually I support young writers 😈looking back at my older writings I am so happy my parents were not publishers or had a lot of money/believed in publishing fame being all you need.
that would be my hardest critique to the whole product of Paolini.
Nevertheless, amazing job on pulling it through, with or without the stepping stones errr slight inspirations.
Nambroth, I in particular curiosly eyed the design of Saphira, cause, except for the color and the fishy scales she reminded me a lot of your designs.*g*
arya was an elf, the lady eragon was eyeing 🙂
I am told that he really puts out all his flirting skills in the second book to win her love… ooohhh.. spoiler, bad me 😉yes, Saphira made the 12 bucks worthwhile 🙂
though there was some… anatomically painful wingfoldings, but thats just for the critterartistfreak AKA me 😉
I dont want to spoil anything for all you still wanting to watch the movie but I must say: had they done that to my book I would have twisted in my grave. Which makes me wonder wheter Paolini was there or not when setting/characteres/etc were done/decided. I can see Saphira very much as he had her written down in the book, the rest was… I dont know. It was more like “book sold great, they will come to the cinema” thing which made me a bit sad.
oh, bway, was it me or were some of the villages the same ones from Dragonheart?WolfenMachine wrote:Akeyla-oh my! That’s terrible! I can’t imagine having to talk to two differnet countries, trying to get someone to fork over $500. 😯 I wouldn’t have thought you could get so much for personal art work. How did you prove his value above the $150 in materials he cost?
I guess I was just very lukcy, and my boyfriend and Dad helped to hack em, cause they saw it was one of my biggest works to date. I value my work differently sometimes, I would have given up after the first complaint.
But I did have enough proves eventually, I also told them that if they could find something of a same size/detail in plastic, mass produced we could talk it over. Then still I could say “handmade one of a kind” and add 3 more zeros. And I had auctions and sales to prove, that if you remove the random markets fluctuations and personal taste, calculating on a scale of time and size I could have easyly charged something over a grand (I then told them I gave em 50% off due to age of the figure, it was back then almost 2 years old, my “oldies” are cheaper)
Mainly it also meant something to me to see if I could stand up as a hobby freelancer and fight for my work, hard headed like those office donkeys could insist on refusing their fault. Like a first step from “that random thing you did infront of TV” to something for sale. ANd the realisation for me that its not random clay mutilation what I do but a valuable product in the eyes of customers.
I wont do sizies again for international shipping though… never ever again such paperfighty. my head still hurts 😉BiPolarBear wrote:The airpump is a very good idea. Maybe one of those vacuum sealer products they seal for keeping food fresh will work, as a cheap alternative.
hmmm… indeed. I wonder if I can get one of them around here… then just to find a fitting uhm.. container. Translucent, incase if I’d ,like, suck out the plaster too in the process 😉
Anyhow I do plan new figurines for Eurofurence again. It was fun doing the ones last time 🙂dragonessjade wrote:That is a awesome dragon. Have you made another one like that since then?
thanks 🙂
uhm, not really. Scalon is untill today my biggest dragon and most detailed one. Next closest are:
http://cathuman.com/artnew/renewcat.jpg (old quality, was made in a bigger rush than scalon)
and sunsoul and soulmoon (http://cathuman.com/newart/kissing.jpg ) though those are papier mache and not sculpey.
I dont really do them anymore unless they are on commission. Size and postage and price are just to much.I’ve had many other cases where my sculptures broke. Including a centaur that arrived with a huuuuge dent in the side.
And if you think flatart has a safer travel:
I sent a painting to Australia in a really thick and safe cardboard envelope. With “no bend no tear” all in red over it. It was all fine until some friggin postman decided it was cool to fold the thing to get it to fit in the customers mailbox. Sometimes I wonder if barbed wire and landmines would be the answer to all prayers of a desperate shipping artist… -
