I am so proud of this piece. I mean, I was super proud of my azure opal dragon and autumn wolf, but I think this tops those because it came out exactly as I thought it would, and better.

For the horse section I wanted to go for a gypsy vanner black and white koi look, and then also use the chinese colors of luck, which are red and gold.

Although I didn’t use interferance paints, I got the same look by using gold metallic paint watered down some, so it shimmers just right in the light. Overall it was entirely painted in metallics, which were really a pain to blend and get a nice solid coat…so it took a LOT of coats…about 5 or 6 for the belly! But it was so worth it.

I need to make a set of these in every color! I so should…

I do not have any orientals, but I’d be willing to trade something else. I’d love to have one.

    Ok, I’m changing the comment.

Ok guys, I edited the topic and added the DA link to the photo, and it will hopefully get a whole lot more people buying them up! I keep sending so many people Windstone’s way who ask and I just hope they do order, but also get to see what Windstone really are since apparently not as many people as I thought knew about them.

I feel bad for her if she hasn’t painted one yet and thus has no sample of work to show, or the sculpt itself…because that really helps. But I do understand about building up sample paint jobs and getting started…but yeah those turkey feet and wierd but kinda cool. This is why Melody needs to release that sculpture bird muse thing people can sample paints on.

I love the two on the far right (viewer’s right) in the front row and in the back the most. I know exactly how you feel painting so many of one shape though I haven’t painted half you have. I’m kinda sick of painting the griffin form myself, lol, even though I love it…I know that makes no sense but it’s just that I want to paint them but it just takes so many days until completion and I get anxious.

I’m amazed how fast you can paint these all up. You always do amazing work. I am also working on a black gold wolf but it’s wildly different…I hadn’t considered this color option. I do think I like Ski’s bubble gum dragon better though. But black never shows up quite right in photos.

I tried to make this one a little more smoothed out in color, but I do have to say the antiquing looks very different, almost kinda aged. I don’t think it shows in the photos. Next up is to finish my lucky fire KiRin!

This is an example of just about how close I can re-do a paint job, but of course no two will ever be alike. I hope the commissioner likes this one since it is a bit different than the last.

I’m just letting those of you who don’t know this, that the dragons and Ki-Rins come in more eye colors then just brown and blue or just blue. The KiRins and Dragonlings come in all the same color eyes as the griffins. I just got a shipment and they are stunningly awesome, especially since there are many jewel colors for the dragons as well!
    EDIT:
Here is a photo for eye color and size comparison:

Wow, I made a big oops here. I thought this was my own thread on my ACEOs and not Vantids (didn’t look honestly, when I went to hit reply since I am watching both topics)…and replied to the above comment wrongfully. Sorry about that Vantid! I do love your cards and plan to bid on the lion.

Everything USPS within the US seems ok and arrives fine, and I’ve never had any problems with shipping from Windstone, so no worries.

in reply to: Copperplate Gryphon Auction #520872

I did complaign but nobody gave me my money back because they said it was Friday afternoon when I shipped it and the weekend screwed it up, so nothing back for me. Also, I never ship USPS anymore, at least not overseas or on big ticket items because it almost never arrives within 2 weeks, not by my track record anyway. It once took over a month for something to get to Alaska by USPS. I NEVER ship overseas USPS because it’ll just never get there.

in reply to: Copperplate Gryphon Auction #520870

It’s why I never want to ship overnight…it has yet to work for me either as a shipper or reciever, and Fed Ex always charges the most…but that’s what the client wanted and it was $75 bucks each time. I have gone ot other pack and shippers around here and they all charge quite high rates for anywhere overseas. I even call places an hour away to see what they can do for me in regards to price, but they all are along the same wavelength so I don’t know how you guys are getting cheaper rates unless you’re picking a service that’s like USPS or like it gets there when it gets there kind of thing.

I always try to ship through UPS or DHL Priority since I find it to be the best service. I just got a quote to ship to Japan my two PYOs that recently sold for $60. I haven’t shipped with insurance on that because overseas insurance becomes like a terrible duty fee. I don’t know why shippoing to Germany was more expensive than Japan but I can only tell you what I am quoted from my shippers, which always goes against anything I find on the web site for some reason. I also try to get an item to its owner within a week’s time, though haven’t shipped express on a PYO yet.

One of the most expensive items I shipped was actually a 6 page document Fed Ex that HAD to arrive overnight to California from here, Illinois, and it cost $75 and didn’t get there for 3 days!
