Thank you, thank you!
I had a really good birthday and lots of ice cream cake (with double chocolate crunchies). 😛
I came into to work the other day and my manager ran up to me and said “we have griffin chicks! look how cute they are!” … so I know how you feel.
We have a policy that employees can’t buy new items until they have been there for at least 2 weeks. So I have to wait 😥
Awesome. I went on a DC trip back when I was in 8th grade too. It was a lot of fun, and I have been back 3 times since then. There is so much to see. I highly reccomend the Holocaust museum. It is really sad (and I couldn’t get through it without crying), but it is definately worth seeing at least once in your life.
They have emerald mouse wizards. If it isn’t on the website, send them an e-mail about it. I believe they were $100. Last I checked, they had like 3.
Me and my co-workers call this the “wal-mart effect”. People nowadays are so used to getting rock bottom pricing from large corporations that they are usually appalled when someone charges what something is actually worth. However, when you really think about it, most of what those places sell is literally cheap crap (unreliable, inexpensive, flimsy items that won’t last you worth a damn).
Whenever i do a commission for someone, price is the first thing I will discuss because it lets me know whether they are serious about it or not (before I waste any time getting details from them). Whenever people give me those “but I can get it from such and so for this price” I always respond “then go do that.” I’m not one to be baited into an argument by things like that because I know whatever product they end up getting will not be as good, well-made, or detailed and they will be disappointed with it in the end (which is satisfaction for me).
yeah, people do that all the time, and it is rude to tell someone how to price their stuff. It is basically them saying you are not good enough to be making so much money, and it is really not their business to decide that.
*sorry if this sounded angry, but people like that make me mad* 🙂
I have done a few. What I do is sculpt them in sculpey until I’m happy with the way they look, then I bake them and sand them smooth. After all that, I cut them apart wherever I think is convenient for molding. Then I make a mold of all the pieces in plaster. After that, if all the molds are successful, I cast all the pieces in resin and assemble them like a model kit.
Then prime and paint. I do wings the same way except I cast them out of clear casting resin and use transparent paint (it gives them a really pretty stained glass effect).
I will try to find some pictures of them, they come out very good. The faces are usually the hardest thing, for me anyway, because they are small and detailed and I like to make them as realistic as
I can. If you have the natural ability to sculpt it will be fairly easy, otherwise… practice practice practice.Greater Basilisk wrote:Narno, Giselle is lovely. It’s the only ballet I’ve ever been to, but some day I’ll find time for more “culture.”
Of course, the first one was deluxe, in the empress’s theater in St. Petersburg, Russia, with world-class dancers… Anyway, if it’s done right, it’s great.I would die if anyone ever took me to st. Petersburg to see a ballet *dream*. Thanks for the confidence boosting (I have never seen Giselle before, but I know the story). I’m going to see the boston ballet, but I have seen them many times and they always do a very good job (with the occasional slip up).
One more thing to look at, before you think someone is charging you way too much for shipping, is their location. For example, many places in the orient (China, the phillipines, etc.) charge major export taxes on things being shipped out of the country. I’m sure there are many other countries that have those kind of regulations as well.
I’ve been waiting for “The Last Unicorn” movie to get going for years now. They have had the website up for a long time and it was in the planning stages, but I’m not sure if they actually officially dropped the idea yet *hopes*.
I am also waiting for the “Battle Angel Alita” movie. Since James Cameron bought the rights to make it, I have been waiting and waiting for that one. It was my favorite manga of all time.
…..in the realm of reality… I can’t wait to take my little brothers to see Harry Potter. I haven’t read the books, but the movies have been entertaining to me. No real interest in Spider man, I heard it was kind of bad anyways. Pirates of the Carribean lost me after the first movie.
Aside from windstone, I also collect the Sheila Wolk pieces from Dragonsite (because her work is amazing). Lots of reading, sewing, prop-making, and sometimes commissioning of various things.
I’m also pretty damn good at throwing knives. My uncle taught me when I was little and he has a whole wall in his basement that is just a big corkboard target. Not a very useful skill nowadays, but undeniably fun.
I am interested in the black cat if anything falls through with the previous claimer.
I am taking my mom to see the Ballet “Giselle”, because she has never seen a ballet and I think she will love it.
My husband is planning on getting me something (even though we have no children). He says it is “just because I have the potential and biology to be a good mother” (awww).

I love that song.
January, 10. Go capricorns.
I would never let my cats outside because we have had problems in our community with someone poisoning stray animals. I am very careful making sure they don’t get out. Plus I don’t need ticks/fleas/diseases causing my babies any unnecessary harm.
The only time I take them out is when I take them to work with me sometimes. They always stay near me so it’s kind of fun (our store is pet friendly *thumbs up*)
