Perfect, LIH. I’ll go report them again with that reason. There’s just no way those are authentic, but to someone who doesn’t kinow…someone’s going to get burned for a sizeable chunk of money if we can’t get ebay to pull the listings.

    Welcome!

This thread may be of use in figuring out the picture situation: http://windstoneeditions.com/forum/confused-about-images-links-etc-new-forum-heres-guide

Regarding what you have…based on the decade you purchased in, your dragon can’t be considered red nor is it a fledgling–that sculpt is relatively new, within the last ten years or so, I think? And the Ruby/Red Fire color schemes were also produced well after the ’80’s were over. Again, we’d need a pic to verify, but I’d agree with a previous poster. What you have is probably a Young Brown. I believe the three color schemes available during the eighties & early nineties were peacock, green, and brown. (Anyone feel free to correct me on that…I’ll admit my age & say that I personally never saw another color other than those three during that period. LOL)

The bat winged siamese is one of the four small flap cats originally released, along with the bird winged siamese and a black version of both with a white nose. The sculpt is still used, but both color patterns are retired. The original quartet come up pretty regularly on ebay in the $25-50 range (each) if you decide to complete your collection. I bought both siamese around the same time you got yours, and they were not onlly my first Windstones, they were my entire collection as I couldn’t afford the dragons back then! 🙂

FYI: the seller has added a note to the Trio of Dragons listing saying that they purchased these pieces from an estate auction, signed but no box or COA, and as they “are not an expert”, they can’t vouch for authenticity.

Of course, as with all such details added after the fact, this is in small print at the bottom of the listing, and no photo of the signature is provided. (Another forum member did ask the seller to see the signature and it doesn’t appear correct to her.)

If true, I hope for their sake the seller didn’t pay anywhere near what they’re asking. But why put an item up for that kind of price without researching what they have first? Let alone multiple such items? I have a signed first edition of one of Robert Heinlein’s books that I picked up when I was young and dumb…no provenance. Do I think it’s real? Yes, based on comparisons with verified signatures. I’m not a forensic document specialist though, and it has never occurred to me to try and sell it for what it’s likely worth without verifying that signature beforehand with an expert! The risk is just too high to chance, and a verified signature brings in higher prices. This is even easier–they just had to send a mail to Windstone to find out.

Also note their 79 feedback is a little disengenuous–they have 3 feedback as a seller, all for items under $20. This doesn’t show deceptive intent at all–everyone starts somewhere!–many ebayers won’t deal with new sellers, and this is one reason why. Too bad, things like this, whether fraud is intended or not, make it tough for other new sellers who do things the right way to get started.

Fingers crossed that the bidder is aware of all this. I’d hate to think of someone losing that kind of money.

    *pets poor dragon*

I’ll be interested to see what the seller says when they see those pics. *Most* sellers I’ve had issues with have been good, but some are just awful.

All reported. Wonder if they’ll claim they can provide a factory COA too if asked.

Another person wonderful with repairs is Kyrin. She fixed my male black griffon’s feet after a shipping accident. You can’t tell anything happened now.

Kyrin also fixed one of my dragons over the holidays…good as new. She was very easy to work with as well. I only wish I could blame someone else, even the cat, for the original damage. LOL (I was really careless, which is dumb when you keep your Windstones outside of any kind of cabinet.)

Don’t forget to check etsy & eBay.

And think outside the box…way outside it. For example: All my current jewelry projects are based around men’s cufflinks, mostly from the ’50’s and ’60’s. I saw a reverse carved crystal (also known as an intaglio) one day last summer that I couldn’t live without. It took six months to hunt one down (the first was not for sale). It was part of a rather surprising series of collectible cufflinks…and in finding that, I discovered that a lot of those pieces from that timeframe are superb tiny works of art. They also have an amazing variety of stones and crystals set into them…and if you hunt around, you can find them at dirt cheap to semi reasonable prices. And they’re typically pretty easy to convert to other kinds of jewelry.

Of course, they’re like Windstones. In finding the first one, we ended up with a few dozen of the darn things. Aside from the stash I accumulated for my projects, Hubby now has quite the collection, which I’m not allowed near. LOL!

Other vintage jewelry is another thing to keep an eye out for. Much of it is available in bulk lots for not a whole lot of money, and it’s a quick process to repurpose it. Or if your mom/grandma/aunts, etc. are like mine, there may be a stash they’re willing to part with! 🙂

    Whew. All set, thanks, Susie!

And OMG, Mama Foo is AMAZING. 🙂

    *deletes really NSFW language*

Cart dumped. Put everything back in. Got shipping quote! Hit continue… dumped again.

    Trying again now.

Safari on the iPad. Cart’s down to ten minutes…refreshing doesn’t work. Neither does leaving it alone. And it won’t let you cash out without a shipping choice.

Sigh. Might be a sign I should work on the rest of my PYO backlog instead.

Is the store getting totally stuck on the ‘shipping estimate’ loading for anyone else? I can’t check out due to it not pulling up shipping costs.

Exact same issue here. Been trying for ten minutes.

    *jaw drops*

I can’t even imagine the mess you’re coping with, drag0n–at least you’re to the point where you can laugh even a little over it. I’m with Wolfen–hopefully this means an equal mount of good stuff is just around the corner for you and your sister!

    in reply to: Reeling #892475

Thanks everyone. I’m still trying to take it all in. It still feels like a really bad dream and not real.

I may be around a bit more than I expected – I keep randomly surfing the web because it’s better than sitting around moping. No idea on when the memorial service will be yet – everything is just kind of suspended while we figure this out.

It’s been a rough few years for my family. My grandfather passed away a few years ago, then my aunt’s sister was killed in a home invasion (and her 80-year-old mother was shot in the head but survived), my dad got cancer and passed away, my grandmother passed, and now my uncle. Adding to the fun – the aunt whose was sister was killed is the wife of my uncle who passed away.

Honestly – This is way too much in too short of a time. We aren’t crazy people who party and drink and live the fast life-style. These have all been quiet retirees who exercised and took good care of themselves and were well loved. I just don’t know why this keeps happening – we need a break!

Aw, sweetie, I’m so sorry. It just seems like bad things run in stretches like that sometimes. Your poor aunt, this must be just devastating for her.

Great big hugs. Hang in there.

The closest thing I have to a grab bag or ebay family, these guys HAVE to be cousins or something!

*sneaks into Hannah’s house & bird-naps four gorgeously coordinated poads…*

    They really look stunning together!

in reply to: What are your squeaks? Tell Melody here!! #891624

Toasted pearl on Unicorns? Especially on the gothics would be my major squeak, but it would be beautiful on any of them I think…

I know horns are an issue, but I can still dream…

    Oooh! I’d squeak for that!

Darn horns anyway. *kicks disconsolately at horn molds*
